Beauty Find of the Day!!!

Saturday, December 30, 2006

I completely forgot I had this in my makeup collection! It's L'Oreal HIP eyeshadow in Playful. It looks really pigmented in the case but you have to layer up the color for intensity. But I like it anyway especially how it looked today with my L'Oreal Star Secrets lipstick in Kerry's Rosewood.

Beauty Find of the Day!!!

Friday, December 29, 2006

I gave myself today a long, overdue manicure.I hate paying for them because I do just as a good job as any nail salon. My polish is the Beauty Find of the Day or more like a Buried Treasure. NYC Nail Glossies in Cognac Sparkle is a just what it is Cognac Sparkle and simply fantasic. It's from this NYC holiday story in the pic above.

Looking Back...Resolutions of 2006

On New Years' Day 2006 I sat down and did my Fashion and Beauty Resolutions. They were all based on a fortune cookie fortune I got a week before that literally said,"Simplicity and Clarity should be interpreted in your dress". What a revelation! So alot of my resolutions for the year was a reflection of that phrase. I only make resolutions in fashion and beauty because they are alot more fun that "lose weight, save money, go to church, find a church home(well,I do need to do that)."

Here they are:

1) To have a maintain healthy hair-I did it!I finally came off and under the emotional and synthetic weave. And for the first time,I love my hair!!

2)To read 12 new books-I did it! I read alot for work but also enjoyment.

3)Organize my style/beauty journal book-I did it! matter of fact, I condensed to a journal and I can carry it around with me. I once left it and work and felt lost all night!

4)Whiten my teeth-I tried. But all those kits irritate my gums. I must seek professional assistance!

5)Buy 10 pairs of good pajamas- I got to five and resorted back to Old Navy Tanks and drawstring pants.

6)Buy a piece of Tiffany jewelry(I wanted the silver ball earrings and the Elsa Peretti teardrop necklace)-I didn't get it but its still on my wish list

7)Buy the perfect suit-Decided I didn't need one. It's not my style and I look like a corporate monkey in a suit.

8)Buy a new black skirt and pants-I did this several times over!

9)Find balance, simplicity, and clarity in my dress-I did this but it felt a little boring and was falling it a flat shoe rut.

10)Buy three more Coach bags-I got two out the three.

11)Buy a piece of Tracy Reece-Didn't get:(

12) Find my signature scent-I'm very close, Philosophy Falling In Love and Sharon Bolton Scents in Truth

13)Invest in a high end foundation-Didn't do but found four great drugstore ones.

14) Do my jewelry sexy, simple and all around-Did this but like the style,I felt a little boring.

I'm posting the 2007 Resolutions on Sunday for a new RebelleBAP!!!

Beauty Find of the Day!!!

Thursday, December 28, 2006

I found The Thymes Filigree Body Creme at Z Boutique in downtown Spartanburg. I used get this at Paper Skyscraper in Charlotte back in the "day". I love Filigree Body Creme scent. It reminds me a lot of the Graces: Philosophy's Amazing Grace, Pure Grace, and Baby Grace.Matter of fact,I layered it with Pure Grace. I also picked up the matching Body Wash.I think I'm going to get the perfume spray next.

Diary of a Nouveau Nappyhead Part VIII

This is me this morning after the Fat Boo and his brother to the allergy specialist.Their father/person joined us. Don't I look nauseous?lol! Anyways, this is the lovely head of hair that has spurted in the last three months. I have changed again products,AGAIN. The longer it gets the different products have to be used in order for me get the curly look I want without the texturizer.Nothings wrong with a texturizer,I've decided to lock it soon. Yep,I'm going to do it. This is the new combo:

Queen Helene Cholesterol Conditioning Styling Gel-It doesn't flake at all.I love it. I put a little olive oil in it for shine.

Garnier Fructis Soft Curl Cream-I used this about two months ago and it didn't work like I wanted it. But the trick is to rub it good on the hair so that coats the curl really good. It's kinda waxy so you have rub it in good or your hair will look ashy.

Dr.Miracle's Temple and Nape Gro Balm-My Aunt from N.Y. brought this down for me. I have thin sides from constant relaxers since I was 8. It looks like it might be working. I just hate the smell.:(

Jamie

PS-I also wearing my new L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara,Milani Shimmer Stripes in Miami Glow, and some red sheer Bourjois lipgloss(they never have names to them).

Today at Target...

I saw some new L'Oreal products:

L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara- CG Last Exact knockoff.I would think that CG had a patent on that brush.

L'Oreal True Match Bronze Glow- Comes in a mini size bottle like its original foundation.

L'Oreal Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Blush

New shades of H.I.P lip gloss( about eight of them)

H.I.P. Color Truth eye liner pencil( four shades)

I only got the mascara. Will give a review on it later!!

Experiencing Dreams....

Today at 11:10 am I saw Dreamgirls.

It was

A

Religious Experience!!!!!

That damn movie better win super big at the Oscars and the Golden Globes("Golden Globe" is my #2's line name:))!!! I'll can't even really write paragraphs about it, so I'll do my usual ADHD snippets.

Beyonce-Did I good job acting and her performance in even musical scene was crazy. I didn't see much of parallel between her"beyonce" and Deena. It was very different in my opinion. Catch her smoking a Newport, yall!!

Jamie Foxx- Didn't show any of his corny-ness. Even in Ray he was funny but he was not funny in this movie. His character reminded me, believe it or not, alot of my kids' father.

Eddie Murphy- He was funny, though. James"Thunder" Early was serious.

Anika Noni Rose-I'm such a fan of hers now. I love her evolution in the movie.

Keith Robinson( CC White)- Remember him as Lil Dee Dee's boyfriend on Half and Half? He is Delicious!!! Cute and can "sang"! My perfect combo.:)

Jaleel White- Yep,Urkel is up in that piece for a minute. Looking sexy.

The music- the musical numbers, especially the big production ones were out of this world. They make want jump out of your seat and scream like you are in them. Every last one Ms. Jennifer did alone were like all eyes on her!

The fashion and makeup- The movie's costuming especially when they got to the 70s was breathtaking. Of course Beyonce's wardrobe was on point. But Jennifer's...I would have worn every single, umpire-waist caftan, wooden earring and necklace, glossy plum lip on this planet. There is one scene that Beyonce's wearing this bowl-cut wig with this striking turquoise eyeshadow. That shadow will be rocked by me soon!! But you can't overlook the eyeliner, thick line, thin line, full eye. Must do black liquid eyeliner...soon.

Last but not least...

Jennifer Hudson- That woman is out of this world. She acted, she cried, she bullied, she begged, she lost and she won. She gave me a new belief in winning in life. What I got from her story is lay down the pride and CHANGE.:)

Go see it now!!'

Beauty Find of the Day!!!

Tuesday, December 26, 2006

I found The Healing Garden Organics Body Lotion in Olive and Aloe at Walgreens. The smell is very "green" and refreshing great for early in the morning and the moisturizer is lightweight and goes on quite smooth. I kind of wish it came in a body butter, but that's me...I must be smothered in lotion!! But a great buy otherwise. It also has a body wash and body spray to match.

Just Another Day...

Christmas this year felt like another day. I wished that it could have been joyous but I wasn't for me. Other than watching my children play til they collapsed in toy induced coma, yesterday felt majorly empty. I wanted to be away from it all. So, I buried myself in The Accidental Diva for the third time and sipped cups of hot cocoa and E&J to soothe the pain of not seeing my Dad rant about the massive amounts of toys my children received. He would have been even more pissed if he had seen all the clothes they got. They can wear something new each day for a month! That's the amount clothes and outfits they got. Before he passed he had bought them US savings bonds that arrived in the mail Saturday. What a man:)

I got a couple of things. Not much. The boys' father/person gave me a gift card to Target. At least his ass thought about it this time. My mom bought me a 1/4 dark grey wool coat with a coordinating scarf. God, did I need a coat!!! I ate good food and waiting for the day to end. The new year is approaching and I'm working on my fashion and beauty resolution list. I don't make those resolutions like lose weight and save money. It never happens. Instead I make fun ones that I know I can hit. I'll post that soon.

Here's a pic of me Christmas Day. I'm wearing on my eyes, Wet N'Wild Mega Eyes Trio in Mojave Mauves smoked out. I'm also wearing a head wrap. I wear them especially on days off when I want to give my hair a rest. And yes I finally got my worn out digital camera fixed!!

Why It Pays to live in a Small Town by Jamie

Sunday, December 24, 2006

This morning I recieved a call from the main post office here in town telling me that they had a package for me from Hawaii(It was a swap from a MUAer) and they thought it might be a Christmas gift and for me to come up there and pick it up before 11:00 am. The main desk part was not open so I had to ring a"bell" and they opened the door and gave me FOUR packages. and last night was just on my knees for the zillionth time praying for God to move me and my kids up out of this piece!! I still want to leave but I just thought that kind of kindness would have NEVER happened in Rock Hill ( which is about 60 miles away) or (please...) Charlotte. Ah...Su'thern Hospitality!!!!

Beauty Rush...again!

Saturday, December 23, 2006

Tonight and tomorrow while children are at their father/person's house, I have assemble toys and still find"him" a gift. Thanks Yummy for the advice. I'm going to get him a picture frame and put some pics in it and get him a DVD to add to his Spike Lee movie collection. I'm also going to do a dessert for Christmas lunch/dinner. If I can get in the kitchen. My mother holds that fort down hard.

So this morning for work I was running late as usual. I decided at about 10:45am that I was going to take my morning power walk around the park. I should have did it earlier but I was sound asleep. When I got back, I took a shower, did my hair( which it taking longer each day because it's getting longer) and didn't have time for makeup. I threw some things in a miniature shopping bag and took off.

Tarte Bronzer in Hotel Heiress- I got this in my Tarte package couple weeks back. I've used it twice but wasn't impressed. The color just did nothing for me. But I applied it in the library's bathroom and it gave this sienna brown softness to my cheeks. I adore it now!

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes! in Black

Revlon Lip Glide Sheer in Sheerly Raspberry- Read about this on Dilly Dilly's blog. But didn't think it would look good on me. I bought it anyway and adore it too. I reminds me of Bobbi Brown Blue Raspberry gloss I once had.

L'oreal HIP Foundation in Cappuccino-I actually applied this with my fingers since I didn't pack my Essence of Beauty Foundation brush. I can't tell you the last time I put foundation on with my fingers!

Loreal LE Rhythmic Eyes Duo( from the Color Remixed Spring 2005 line) in Harmon-eyes-It has a pink side and bronze side and its a cream to powder type of shadow.I've only seen these once from L'Oreal.

Cover Girl Queen Collection Powder Foundation in Soft Copper-I just used the sponge out of this compact for the bronzer.

mark.kohl play eyeliner in Sienna- Completely forgot how great this color is.:)

Back in Biz-ness...

Thursday, December 21, 2006

I'm back. and I'm tired:(

This has been the longest week of my life handling the arrangements for my Daddy's funeral. Today was the funeral and it took everything I had left in me. But I glad to know that my father no longer has to take chemo or radiation or go to doctor every week. He is in restful peace. I want to thank everybody who posted their condolences on the blog. I love "youse" all!

So after the services, the family, and the cold fried chicken meal at the church, I went SHOPPING.

At Wal-Mart( also known as "Wals-marts":)) I pick up the Devil Wears Prada DVD,January's In Style with that weird action photo of Beyonce on the front, and People Magazine with the year's best in it. I'm ready for a night of fashion, since I'm pretty sure Ugly Betty's a rerun.

At my fav hometown boutique, Almost Pink, I got the knockoff Chloe Paddington Bag in Tan. They are now carrying some Louis Vutton in there. Well, knockoff Louie and unfortunetly they(the owners) thinks it's real. I didn't want to break there hearts and give them a copy of Ebelle's How To Spot Fake Louie.I also didn't want to tell them that South Carolina has a strict and no nonsense law on selling counterfeit goods that will put yo' ass on the chain gang. But I've found so many great Fendi Spy knockoffs there!! So I won't say a word.

At Cato's I scooped up the cutest chocolate brown suede ballet flats with little rhinestones on them.

I was thinking of going back to work tomorrow but I'm needing a vacation from everything including Union.I promised T.Hall a visit so I might head out.

My Daddy...Rest In Peace

Monday, December 18, 2006

On Sunday, my Daddy, Michael, passed away of complications from colon cancer. He fought hard against it from the time he diagnosed over a year ago. This is him and my oldest twin, Spencer on the twins first birthday. As you can see...he wasn't a big picture taker. I could never understand why God had in his plan to move me back to my hometown. But when my Dad got sick a year after I got here, I understood more clearly. We had the common love of movies, reading the newspaper, watching the news, and being dressed to impressed. I will miss him deeply. I love you,Daddy!!!!

House of Dereon At Marshall's?

Sunday, December 17, 2006

I found this House of Dereon Bag at the Hillcrest/Spartanburg Marshall's for 39.99. It was just hanging there by its self. Now,It's a little "gaudy" as my Mom would say, but I wasn't going to leave it there! I can work it into the collection. It will probably but the only piece of HOD I'll ever own, unless Bey and phatty-phat hips come up with a plus size line. Even Apple Bottoms and Baby Phat come in Plus Sizes. But according to my homie/soror/cuzin-in -law T.Hall the jeans are very ill fitting unless you are stick thin. And she is stick thin.:)( Love you Tasha!!).

Family Issues...

Wednesday, December 13, 2006

My soror "T.Hall" emailed me this question. She's pretty new on the scene of makeup fascination. I try to school her as much as I know how!!

"I was in Sephora and had a question about bronzer and the dude that was helping me seemed not the least bit interested.....so, I thought I would consult with my resident make-up expert. My question is, is bronzer designed to be used by itself? Does it go on top of foundation or can it be applied to the bare face?I would like to re-create this look. I think Ms. Eva "Marcelle" always looks beautiful. Her makeup artist is off the chain!!! Can you make me look like that? I have this new fascination with makeup for some reason...and I don't even wear any. I just like how it looks on other people. Go figure."

"Okay T.Hall,

You are looking for a powder bronzer that gives you the same glow as Eva the Diva. Easy, mama, easy.:)

First,You can wear a powder bronzer with or without foundation. But if you wear a moisturizer, don't skip it. Put that on first.

Second,Get a brush that will allow the bronzer to applied perfectly. Normally these are big fluffy brushes. You don't have to spend alot of money unless you want to. I introduced "E-dub" AKA "Yo' LS Erica" to Essence of Beauty Brushes that are sold at CVS. They are amazing quality for drugstore. The one you would look for is called "Powder Brush" It's fluffy and will pick up just enough product for a natural application.

Third-Bronzers come either matte(no shimmer) or Shimmer. Eva probably uses one with shimmer. Here are some of my picks:

KLS by Kimora Lee Simmons Highlighter in Brilliant Butterscotch.-I know it doesn't say bronzer but it works just like one, not making you look darker but giving you a punch of color. Because bronzers are not made to alter you skin color but give you a healthy summery-I-just-did-St. Tropez-with-Diddy-and Kim-and the-twins look. Don't let NO ONE sell you a dark a** color.

Milani Shimmer Stripes in Bahama Bronze-If you go to the Bobbi Brown Cosmetics website they sell this product called a Shimmerbrick. It's like $40 and highly popular and fantastic but some smart low end cosmetics company named Milani got slick and copied it. And works just as well.It gives a little more sparkle than the KLS hightlighter. Plus it requires a little practice since you have "swirl" you brush in the color to get the colors to mix. I love it though.I have all the Milani colors of this.

Watch out for bronzers that are made for the "face and body".Their formulations are some times good for the body but to too dark or heavy for the face

Now, I also use liquid bronzer. It works better for me because I have dry skin on my face and body. I mix it with moisturizer. Here's my two favs:

Wet N Wild Mega Pump Bronzer in Brazilian Bronzer-just a dab mixed with a moisturizer gives the Eva the Diva glow.

I hope this helps!! "

J

PS. I bet you that Eva probably uses more than one bronzer for that effect. We can experiment when I come to visit!:)

Weekend Rantings and Ravings...

Sunday, December 10, 2006

*I have a appointment at the Bobbi Brown Counter during an "Event" they are having.I'm broke and don't know if I should go. If you got an answer for me, let me know.:(

*I finally found those WnW pallettes that everybody on the MUA are screaming about.I got Deck The Halls. I hope to put up a FOTD picture this week.

*Dear Santa:Please bring me a new digital camera.Love, Jamie

*I'm going through a spell of "city-itis" and I'm ready to get the hell out the country!!

*I have rediscovered my MAC pigment samples. This weekend I used Vanilla,Coco, Tan,Chocolate and Fairylite and Blue Brown.I got new ones in Shimmertime,Azreal Blue,Golder's Green,Softwash Grey,Night Light and Gold Dusk.

*Why do people ask you if you are ready for Christmas? No, I'm not!

*Everybody:Read the Dreamgirls article in Vanity Fair. Beyonce is mess!

*Alert! New Loreal HIP Limited Edition!I think its for the Golden Globes like last year Loreal did Photomagique and introduced the infamous Front Page Peach Blush. There's a blush called Coquette( a bright punchy pink) and a liquid shimmer called Infamous.

*January Edition of Marie Claire is definitely alot better.I still left it on the shelf at B&N.

*Calgon has a new Lotion called MMMMMM! Cotton Candy.I must have it.:)

Super Rave!!: Tarte Eyes...

Wednesday, December 06, 2006

A few weeks ago I received a package from the extraordinary company called Tarte. The only item I had even own from Tarte was a Cheek Gloss in Tipsy which I love. It was a mini size given to me by a swapping friend over at the MUA. I still have it, use it, luvvv it! So was crazy excited to dive into my box of goodies. I literally got much stuff that going to do a three part segment starting with the Eyes...

Tarte Picture Perfect Lash Curler- I'm not crazy about any makeup tool that isn't a brush. So in trying this one morning like had read so many times in books and magazine, topping it off with the fabulous faux violet snakeskin covered Tarte Lights ,Camera Lashes Mascara, I fell head over lashes in love! Where have I been and why haven't I been on the eyelash curling boat?Tarte's Lash Curler plus the Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara in Black is a perfect combination for a big open sexy eye framed with doll like lashes.

Tarte Indelible Wink Liquid Liner & Shadow Set in Black- Sorry, but I'm not crazy about liquid eye liner either. But I remembered again what I had read and read applied the liner and topped it the powder tip shadow and then some Light,Camera, Lashes in Black. Okay I looked very Beyonce-esque Cat-eyed with slight normalcy to it. Its not harsh but still gives great glammed eyes.

Tarte Peep Show Smoky Eye Palette in Amber- Buy it immediately. Seriously.:) I mean I'm kinda speechless in giving a good description in the perfect bronzy smoky eye.And the best thing about it it that you need nothing extra to put the look together. It comes with the right brushes, liner, and shadow base. Again, buy it immediately!

Look out for Part II!

Rural Glamour's 200th post and Beauty Find of Day!!!

This my 200th post here at City-itis. I just want to say thank you to all that visit and support and love this blog just as much as I do. It feels good to know that I have gotten this far and can't wait til the 1st anniversary of Rural Glamour! Now on to Today's Beauty Finds!!!

Wet N' Wild Mega Eyes Trio in Mojave Mauves- I'm truly impressed by this wonderful trio of chocolate, deep mauve and vanilla. Plus they go on so satiny and have some serious staying power. I also picked up Belgian Chocolates Trio.

NYC Pencil and Pout in Teaberry Duet- This came out of The Beauty Buyble sample box and I love it. So now I want them all. I such a compulsive collector. Let's not start on my collection of L'Oreal Colour Juices.:) My favorite thing about it that the pencil matches exactly the gloss. I only wish the gloss was a little more sheer and had more product on the wand when it came out.

Ringling Bros. vs Sephora!!!

Oh no they didn't!!!

Ringling Bros. Sue NYC Retailer Over Trademark Use

(CBS/AP) NEW YORK The Greatest Show on Earth is finding no amusement in what it claims is improper use of its circus trademarks, filing a lawsuit Tuesday to bring down the curtains on a holiday sales pitch by a beauty products company. The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Manhattan against Sephora and its parent company, the Paris-based LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA. The circus' lawsuit seeks to stop Sephora holiday advertising that it says uses its trademarks, including the phrase it uses heavily in its program books, coloring books, playing cards and stuffed animals, "The Greatest Show on Earth." It also seeks unspecified damages relating to profits by the San Francisco-based Sephora or lost business of its own along with $5 million in punitive damages. It said it has used the trademark "The Greatest Show on Earth" continuously since the 1890s. According to the lawsuit, the circus learned this month that Sephora was using "The Greatest Gift Show on Earth" and other circus references and designs in its holiday advertising in stores, on billboards, in catalogs and on the Internet. Sephora displays circus-style lettering on one Web page that includes a circus monkey and five icons containing links to products it's selling, the lawsuit said. Another online animation shows a model made to appear to be a trapeze artist swinging across the screen, it said. "CIRQUE DE BEAUTE," Sephora's Web site says. "THE GREATEST GIFT SHOW ON EARTH." Telephone messages left with spokeswomen for Sephora were not immediately returned Tuesday.

What I want for Christmas....2006

I've been working on this Christmas wish list for two weeks. Like I'm going to get something.:( But it's fun to dream.... And now for J's What I want fo' Christmas:

1st- For my kids to have the best Christmas ever!!! As a child I was always loaded down with lots and lots of toys and clothes. My dad used to say that Toys R Us relocated in our living room. I want my children to have all of what I had. Super Rave:Maryam's Soap Nook and all her Divineness!!

Friday, December 01, 2006

Okay...this whole post is going to sound like I'm screaming because the excitement about the products that I'm about to review is boiling over. I feel like one of Oprah "venue-ette"(I think they call them that) that comes on before the show or as a commercial with the special effects and Oprah hollering over it all. Maryam's Soap Nook...just please...get your credit cards, money orders, Rush Debit cards out for this!!

Hand made soap in Pomegranate and Wild berries and Sleeping Beauty- Handmade soap is the best.It makes you forget all of the Caress bars you have bought the past. Besides these bars being pretty, the scents are awesome. Made with palm oil, olive oil, goats milk, shea butter, monoi de Tahiti oil and Vitamin E, there will not be a dry patch in sight after you towel off.

Whipped Shea Monoi Body Butter- My mother is corporate buyer,USC educated and also a body butter thief. This great moisturizer comes in a 8 oz jar and she dipped a tablespoon in it and stole half of it and put it in a Tupperware mini bowl and took into her bathroom. I asked her why did she do it, she said "That cream made your bathroom smell so good, I needed some it!"The Whipped Shea Monoi Body Butter in Ginger Cardamon will lead your mother to a life of beauty product crime!

Japanese Camellia Blend Body Oil in Sensual- You not need a perfume for layering for this great oil because it so powerfully scented. I used this on days that I'm curling up in Juicy Couture tracksuit( still wear em' homies) and it has such a beautiful feel.

Luxury Body Mist-My cousin tried to get me for this. I call it a dry oil,I actually put it on one day as a moisturizer and it worked for me. I have the Tahitian Pearls scent.

I've have more of her products to review next week. Please visit her great and also informative website @ http://www.maryam-soap-nook.com/ !!!!!

Beauty Find of the Day!!!

Saturday, November 25, 2006

Now, I know this is not a beauty product per se, but I love candles. But after I moved back to my mom's house I stopped burning them because I love them all over the house and my mom, well anybody who lives with parents knows, what you did in your house you most likely can't do in their house!! But after discovery very cute shop called Divas on Main in the SPBG, I have went back to my old ways in a good way. Tyler Candles in Ira Jean and Pristine are simply fantastic. First, the scent immediately starts to fill the air after no less than a minute. Second, the scents I choose, Ira Jean and Pristine make the air around you so pretty and soft that you feel like sitting at a vanity and applying body powder with a puff!!That's very girly indeed! I plan on getting more soon, I love love love them!!!

Toyota Corolla Beauty...

Today was running late for work and I hadn't eaten anything so I hurried did my hair got dressed and pack a makeup bag with a few items. I ended up doing my makup in the car while I waited in the drive thru at Bantam Chef. Here's what I used:

I quickly did my brows with Milani Easybrow in Dark Brown. Then I dusted my face with KLS by Kimora Lee Simmons Highlighter in Juicy Java. For my eyes, I packed my Smashbox Highlighter Quad and used the dark pink color from lash line up to the crease then the bronzey peach color from the crease to brow bone, blended well of couse. I added three coats of Bourjois mascara and for the lips, MAC Viva Glam VI lipglass. I looked better than when I spend time in a bathroom mirror!!!

Beautiful cropped afro...
Baby Momma of the Year...again. Holding it down!!

Big Girl Fabulous!!!Love it
Lately( this week) my "diva fabulous"(as my las chicas la"Crew" would call it) level is at all time low. I'm just not feeling like...beautiful. Maybe its the looming Thanksgiving holiday that my children will be spending with their dad and his family in Atlanta or maybe that the ever present boredom cloud that will hover over me on those the days. Believe me ya'll I do try myself to keep myself busy if I'm not working. But there is so much you can do. But getting back to the slump, I posted that my hair is at the stage of "what to do with me?" and new clothes+Christmastime with two children= Jamie gets no new clothes!!! But that's okay, the boys are going to climb the walls with their new toys and that's better than any ole' factory store Coach bag.:) I ran across these pictures while checking my blog list that made me feel a spirit arising.

Beauty Find of the Day!!!

Tuesday, November 21, 2006

I know ya'll are thinking for someone who is always screaming broke, she sure does shop a lot. I'm not the outdoorsy mom who likes to romp in grass or go to park. I take my kids where I like to be, shopping in stores. And believe it or not, the boys like shopping, So today the fam and I traveled to the SPBG again this time to Marshalls to see if we could score some early Christmas things. Well, guess what was waiting for me AGAIN:

Kiehls Musk 19.99!!

I didn't get any though. Instead, I picked up Chocolovers by Aqualina for 9.99, same folks who make Pink Sugar. I've been through two bottles of Pink Sugar since it was introduced so I was excited to grab this up because I wanted it anyway. I was MUA one day and someone said they had found Chocolovers at Marshalls. I also scored Korres Vanilla Cinnamon Body Milk for 5.99. I don't know about everybody else's TJMaxx, Marshalls, or Ross but the Korres products are always the scents that didn't smell that great. I was very happy to pick this up also.

I will probably be back at these spots again after Thanksgiving. I'm the fool who likes the crowds every though I worked retail since I was 17.:)

Diary of a Nouveau Nappyhead Part VII

Monday, November 20, 2006

My hair and I are having growing pains. It has probably grown a 1/4 inch since I cut it and my routine of wet it, condition it, gel it is not working anymore. It akes more time in the morning to get to look like something( more than 15 minutes). Grrrr!! It's not long enough to double strand twist and look good.It is taking every thing in me not to cut it down again or texturize it. If I cut it down again then I'll be waiting for it to grow and if I texturize it at this length it will look like a starter jheri curl( do you know that Jheri Curl has a entry in Wikipedia?)!

I'll figure something out. Suggestions let a sista know!

Dreamgirls on Oprah:J's Fashion Yummy-ness!!!

Jennifer looked so cute in this empire waist dress...I love it!I wonder who makes. If you know let me know!!
Anika is a darling. She reminds me of my Soror E-dub...

Now, Miss Beyonce, as you all know I luv, could have done something different. I know the purpose was to "stand out" but her dress look like her momma made it an hour before the show. Very cheap looking and too short AND too summer-y. I mean don't they film in Chicago?

Please try to catch this Oprah show. I remember when Oprah came on at 9pm when I lived in Rock Hill. I miss that.It was really good and Jennifer got mad props.

How Yummy!! Big Girls Edition!

I consider myself a half- plus size girl. I wear a 44D bra and 16 pants and now I'm just getting into L and XL shirts after a year of XXL. But I can't wear a shirt out of Lane Bryant and most of the things in Torrid and Ashley Stewart are a little too big, even at the smallest size. I gained the majority of weight AFTER I had my children and moved back to Union. My eating habits were a mess plus I though need to lose weight because I thought that's what the "plaintiff" liked. Well, a year and half later and changed lifestyle and mind ,I became more accepting of my curves and how to dress them better. I love fashion and all because it comes in a size XS doesn't mean I don't think its cute. But I will not give up my weekly jaunt to Applebees' to be "skinty". I just want to be healthy, energetic and wearing size 14!!! Well my search for cute clothes for half-big girls I came across B& Lu, a very sweet plus size line. Above are some my wishlist items...

Musical Selections...

Monday, November 13, 2006

I'm not a big CD buying person. I tend to download a song or two from Rhapsody or I'll buy a CD only after I have listened to all the tracks on line. I love music and have played various instruments since I was young so I think that's why I'm picky. Plus I'm getting to old to listen to some stuff. I live in the hot bed of Southern Crunk/Get it Crunk/Let's shoot up the club music/ area( only three hours from Atlanta) so when you turn on the radio, that's what you hear. Thanks God for V101.9(hits and oldies) out of Charlotte or beat my car radio with a bat!! I like old stuff like ALL THINGS LUTHER VANDROSS and Old School R&B. For example I just downloaded Silly by Deniece Williams on to my Zen Nano. Ahh...I feel like that sometimes... Here's my list of got to get it music:

Kingdom Come by Jay Z-

Bees,Things, and Flowers by Incognito

Fantasia by Fantasia

Get Used To It- Brand New Heavies

Make Like Lovers Do and Uncovered- Chante Moore and Kenny Lattimore

Young Lioness- Teedra Moses

Tamia:Between Friends-Tamia

Dreamgirls Soundtrack

In My Mind-Heather Headley( a replacement)

Weekend Rantings and Questions...

Tested the new VS Angels Fragrance Desire. I loved how it smelled when it went on the but the dry down smelled cheap. Almost bought it....

Til' I bought the December Elle and there was a coupon in it for a free one...

Whew!

Why is Beyonce being pumped up for an Oscar? I don't believe it...

But I am exicited about seeing Dreamgirls!!

Check out this Dreamgirls blog!!

What happened to Marie Claire? The covers are so "dry" and feel like I'm reading National Geographic and not a Fashion magazine.

The Devil Wears Prada DVD...December 12!!!

Where in the HELL is my December Lucky mag!Dayum Conde' Nast!!

Should I make up an order from Sephora just to get the deluxe sample bag?

What do I want for Christmas?

I love that American Idol revisited show!

OMG...I can wear a size large from New York and Company...(considering I could wear nothing from them last year...and they cut big)

The Jill Marie Jones Beauty layout in December's Essence is stunning!!

I think Mikki Taylor's "Mikki Says" should be waaaayyy longer.

Who will I play my Sephora Monopoly with when I buy it?

Review:JR Watkins Natural Body Care Kit

Friday, November 10, 2006

You know I love a samplers. About a week or two ago I received a package from JR Watkins. It was the Natural Body Care Kit and it included:

All-Natural Lavender Hand & Cuticle Salve (0.25 oz.)
All-Natural Lemon Body Oil (1 fl. oz.)
All-Natural Lemon Hand & Cuticle Salve (0.25 oz.)
Aloe & Green Tea Hand & Body Lotion (1 fl. oz.)
Lemon Cream Shea Butter (0.7 oz.)
Mango Shea Butter (0.7 oz.)
Peppermint Foot Cream (1 fl. oz.)
Vanilla Hand & Body Lotion (1 fl. oz.)

My favorites were All Natural Lemon Body Oil layered with Lemon Cream Shea Butter. I smelled like lemon pound cake!!!I love to have the Lemon Body Oil in a big size. I also loved the Peppermint Foot Cream. It was cooling and moisterizing at the same time and held well after i took my socks off the next morning. The Hand and Cuticle Salves in Lemon and in Lavender were immediately put in my handbag. They tend to be more of a cuticle salve unless you have very dry hands or you like oily hands. My least favorite, but not terribly bad, was the Mango Shea Butter. It smelled like Hot 6 Oil or one of those "Miracle Grow"Hair Greases! LOL!They just need to rework the scent. Maybe not mix it with Shea Butter?

Overall,Out of 8 items, only one didn't grab me.It's great if you haven't used JR Watkins products, which you buy at Target.
