~FOTD~ Wet N' Wild Fauna Collection....

Thursday, March 29, 2012

Today, I played with the Wet N' Wild Fauna Collection...... I was kind of excited...after I swatched the shadows, the colors looked gorgeous! I even liked the gloss swatch! lol!

The Fauna Collection includes:

Eyeshadow trio 33830 Fauna
Blusher 831E Pearlescent Pink
Glassy Gloss lip gel 311 A Glass Confusion
Fast Dry 227C Teal Or No Teal

I used everything, every color, except for the polish, Teal or No Teal, which I already own. It was in that 2011 Summer Nail Pail they had and its a permanent color.

Excuse all the highlight under my brows...I'm trying to perfect that sculpted brow look but I'm have trouble finding the perfect concealer to do it with. I swear, when it comes to learning makeup techniques, I'm on the lowest reading level, it takes me forever to get something right. smh....
I just did the diagram on the shadows, purple on the lid, teal in the crease, yellow-gold highlight on the brow bone. I only used UD Primer Potion on the lid before applying and the pigmentation of all three colors is great. However, they are HELL to blend, so get your elbow grease ready!!!

The gloss had a hint of color once it hit my lips but not much. The color reminds me of a old MAC lipglass I was crazy about called Morning Glory. I went thru like two tubes of that.:)

If you had to choose between Flora and Fauna.....get Fauna. Fauna was more usable for me than Floral.

Do you own this collection? Let me know!

~Fresh Coat~ Sinful Colors Morning Star....

Hey Everyone!!

Today I'm wearing on my nails Sinful Colors Morning Star. I got this at Walgreens, $1.99....a picture of the display that it is on is below....:)

Two coats of Morning Star is perfect. Its between opaque and sheer...actually that's perfect to me. Its photographs a bit sheer but it looks opaque in natural light. One coat would have probably made it opaque.

I also have it on my toes:/. I don't know how I feel about blue toe nails. Its a little too "young" for my taste. I'm NOT adventurous when it comes to my feet. I like the standard pinks, reds, and nudes. I can't even tell you why. *shrugs*

Morning  Star is part of the Sheer Shimmer Collection. It does have a low cast of golden pink shimmer, very subtle. Morning Star is definitely  purchase from this collection!!

~FOTD~ Wet N' Wild LE Flora Collection Look....

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

As promised, here is the first of two FOTD on the Wet N' Wild Flora and Fauna Collections. If you don't know how the sets look in stores, here's a picture below....

Also, check out my post of the swatches of the trio, blush and gloss in this post....CLICK HERE!!
 Flora consists of:
Eye shadow trio #33829 Flora
Blusher 833E Mellow Wine
Glassy Gloss lip gel 314A Mow the Glass
Fast Dry 33599 Twining Vines

I knew I wasn't going to use the gloss. It's too sheer, almost clear for my taste. I also didn't use the polish...I'll save that for another post.

I used an eye shadow base and a bronze cream shadow, just to see if I could give that shadow a bit of lift since the swatches were pretty sheer....
I did the yellow shade from the inner eye to the middle and orange on the outer corner of the eye. I used a line brush with MAC Fix + and applied the green shade on the bottom lash line. The yellow and orange barely showed up on me, even with a base and heavy packing on the color.

The idea of the three colors is beautiful, but I didn't get much color payout with the shades other the green which was applied wet.

I love that blush, which I think is a permanent color...not sure.

~Fresh Coat~ New Sinful Colors Spotted & Mini Haul.....

Monday, March 26, 2012

Hey Everyone!!

I was in Walgreens on Sunday, and spotted two "new" Sinful Colors polish displays. Now, ya'll know how SC does it ( maybe you don't but I'll tell you.:)). Sinful Colors will do a funky display and you will think its new colors but its all re-promotes OR a mix of new and re-promotes. *Deep sigh* So, when I saw this display, my mind went bonkers! "I haven't seen these displays on any blog!" "Did I miss a post on these colors?!?!" "Are they re-promotes?!?!" "Are they new??!"

I still don't know...so I kept an open mind.

Color Block looked pretty but skipped any purchase of these....
Sheer Summer Collection ( hope they are not really sheer.:/)....looks a bit like some of the colors of that OPI Holland Collection....chime in if you know something. Sinful Colors will do "inspired" colors of another company's collection, I'm just sayin' #noshade.

I got Cinderella and Morning Star...then had the nerve to walk over to the SC main display to see if the colors were over there. smh.

Stay tuned for Fresh Coat posts of both colors!!:)))

~Fresh Coat~ Revlon Colorstay Polish in Bare Bones #300

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Hey Everybody!!

I wore Revlon Colorstay Polish in Bare Bones over the weekend. This is two coats and I could have gotten away with just one. The opaqueness is just everything! First two days, no chips, the polish looked great. However, Sunday rolled around and the chipping started rolling in. By the time I washed my hair today, I was seeing polish in my hair, big chunks of chipped polish. I don't know what the time frame suppose to be on these, but Colorstay, Colorchips in four days. Womp:(

I thought Bare Bones reminded me of a lighter Essie Case Study. I like a taupe-y nude shade. I'll probably try this on my toes too, since I do like a neutral color break from all the colors I wear in the summer.

Colorstay had some other interesting colors. Do you own any? What colors should I pick up? Let me know!!!

~Haul~ E.L.F. Cosmetics...

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Call it rant....but I can't buy E.L.F. products like everyone else can in their local Target:( Local as in 30 miles away...no 45 miles away....and they MIGHT have a sprinkling of e.l.f. items but not a full wall like some Tar-jays. Sheesh.

I braved another e.l.f. order haul...the last one, over two years ago, was not good. I waited two weeks to receive it. I got this order in less then four days. Every since then, I've been picking stuff here and there from Walgreens, Big Lots and my new makeup hot spot, good ol' Dollar General.

Here's the haul!!!

I got two of the Blending Brushes, an Eye Crease brush and the Studio Powder brush.I see alot of girls on YT use the Powder Brush as a foundation brush and I can attest to that claim that it is an AWESOME foundation brush!!!
I also got all three of the Eyelid Primers. I've used the the basic shade and champagne colored one and they work really good so far.
These two new products caught my eye. I got the High Definition Concealer Setting Powder and Mist & Set Spray. Using them as we speak...reviews soon!!!
I must be obsessed with red polish because I got Smokin' Hot and a hot peach shade in Party Peach.....
Lastly, I got two of the Matte Lip Colors. The nude shade is a no good for me. Wayyyy too light, not even workable. The red is perfect, just perfect!!! Also, got one of the Waterproof Eyeliner Pens in Black.

Starting to feel my way through e.l.f. again....Do you have any favorite e.l.f. products that I should pick up? Let me know in the comments so I can start another "wishlist" maybe even a small haul!!!

Winning Big in Online Auctions!

It’s the thrill of the sport. It’s the passion behind winning. It’s the competitive drive. Wondering what I’m talking about it? Bidding on online auctions and winning awesome goodies! Yes, placing a small bid, like on a penny auction, watching the price and want for the object rise brings out emotions of every kind. I personally love penny auctions because it gives you a change to start low and bid in different increments until you are either right where you a want to be or sometimes over your head! LOL!

In the last 10 years, ever since I discovered online auctions, I’ve bidded on and won the gamut of items. My favorite items would include a Betsy Johnson hand bag, a brand new discontinued Victoria’s Secret perfume (remember when they did the Horoscope fragrances in 2000?), a Kate Spade pencil bag complete with pencils and authentic MAC cosmetics. Some of my key tips would be to start as low as the bidding will go, even if it’s a penny and take it slow. If the auction isn’t’ up for a week, watch it for a while after that first bid. Normally, the last couple of hours of the auction are the key ones but you want to test the waters by bidding early.  Hope that these tips and tricks help you in your next pursuit online when winning that ultimate must have item!

A Big Thank You To Great Plumbers!

On a hot July day in 2011, I went into the bathroom to find that toilet was overflowing. As much as I’m a confident woman, a Jill of all trades…I was stopped in my tracks by all the water. What do I do? Apparently, one of the kids that I have my “possession”, flushed, flushed and FLUSHED the toilet until Lake Superior was on my bathroom floor. I didn’t even hesitate, I went old school and open up the yellow pages of the city phone book, picked the biggest ad and called that plumber!

Nearly an hour later, two gentlemen came to the house and assessed the problem. It was more than a clogged toilet but some clogged pipes. There was no fumbling or second guessing because those plumbers went immediately to work! Somewhere outside there is a “manhole” that’s in the yard and one of the guys pulled out:

-a facecloth
-two toy cars
-a plastic ball
-a fingernail clipper

I was speechless!! LOL!The plumbing professionals had the problem done and solved in about two hours. The plumbers left the bathroom clean and yard back the way it was. They even told me that the bill would be in the mail and call if there were any other problems. A wonderful sigh of relief blanketed my home that July day. Thank God for reliable, professional plumbers!

~Hair~ Review: Essentious Hair Care

Monday, March 12, 2012

Ahh....are you ready for some new hair product reviews? I got a couple coming up and we are going to start first with Essentious Hair Care. I was sent the Complete Package ($45) for review and I've use the products for about six weeks. Let's get started!

 Essentious Exonerate Gentle Shampoo-
"This gentle, moisturizing shampoo uses organically-based emulsifiers with a base of Aloe Vera gel, taking advantage of its renown for healing and moisturizing. It has a rich lather and a light, refreshing scent. Sulfate Free."

Pros:
- very gentle cleansing shampoo, something that you can used at least every two weeks for gentle cleansing if you co-wash.

-cleans the scalp well

- smells like vanilla

Cons:
-Not a clarifying shampoo. It didn't feel like I got a stripped cleansing which I like to do before a do a protein treatment.

Essentious Rejuvenate Strengthening Protein Treatment-
"This protein treatment rebuilds your hair structure and restores protein lost during chemical treatments and heat styling. Stops breakage, fortifies damaged hair, and strenghthens. "

Pros:
- It worked like a medium to strong protein treatment with Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein and Hydrolyzed Keratin, two proteins that can penetrate and rebuild the hair strand.

- has the same vanilla smell as the shampoo. All the products have the same consistent smell which I like, that little detail builds a great scent in the hair!

Cons:
-Needs a good clarifying shampoo before to see results. I used the Exonerate Shampoo before this treatment didn't work well on my hair. But when I used a regular sulfate shampoo and then the Rejuvenate Treatment, it worked perfectly. I had no breakage problems for about two weeks like a normal protein treatment should work.

Essentious Hydrate Conditioning Treatment
"This moisture treatment restores moisture lost during chemical treatments and heat styling. Penetrates the hair to provide moisture within the hair shaft. "

Pros:
-a great moisturizing deep conditioner...15 minutes really made a huge difference in the softness of my hair.
-it has Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein which could be used for a light protein treatment as well.

Cons:
-Its got a bit of a thick, whipped consistency that was a little difficult to get out of a bottle. Maybe a jar would work better.
-It has good slip, but only after it has sat on my hair for about 15 minutes. Before that, I couldn't detangle with it freshly on but after sitting for awhile, my comb slipped right through.

Essentious Shine Daily Moisturizer
"Moisturizes hair with penetrating coconut oil. "

Pros:
-I like the pump action of the oil. It gives you  just enough for the coverage you need.

-the coconut oil penetrates the hair for strengthening.

-I used this on a blow out because it does have grapeseed oil which is awesome for heat styling and I loved the results! Great for heat styling!

Cons:
-I wouldn't use this as a moisturizer, mainly because my hair demands a water based moisturizer. It could be a good sealant,if your hair like light sealants but my hair likes heavier more shea butter and wax sealants.

-I didn't see a big shine difference but I don't have dull hair, my hair has a good natural sheen to it.

-If you are a good "mixologist"...You could mix the coconut oil, grapeseed and fragrance But, I'm not. lol! I would have to buy this product.

Overall.....

For $45, you can get the whole kit, try for yourself, which isn't a bad price for four products. If you want to buy them separately, I suggest to buy the Exonerate shampoo, Hydrate treatment and the Shine oil. I really liked the Essentious products with a tweek here and there, they fit right into my hair regimen:)

So what do you think? Have you tried Essentious products? Let me know!

I received a free product (or products) for review purposes. I did not receive any form of compensation from the company. All opinions are my own and not influenced in anyway. My reviews are my personal and honest opinions

~Fresh Coat~ Wet N' Wild Spoiled in Cougar Attack...

I did a little polish change for the weekend with Wet N' Wild Spoiled Polish in Cougar Attack. Its a brown transparent polish with bronze and gold glitter. Its a bit thick and the brush is to wide for this formula. Plus, my brush in this polish was a defective, it wasn't even in bristles.

Overall, I love this color! It was only $1.99 for something of this unique color. I applied three coats and could've stopped at two for opaqueness.

I own another Spoiled polish and I picked up some more of the glitters the other day. Do you own any of these colors? Let me know!!

~FOTD~ Viva Glam Nicki...Look & Review!

Friday, March 09, 2012

So let's discuss my recent MAC purchase.:)

Along with some basic goodies that I've been putting off getting, I also ordered Viva Glam Nicki. What the heck, if it doesn't work, the money still goes to an amazing cause and I'm a life long Viva Glam fan anyway. Nicki Minaj, not so much of a fan of hers, but she definitely is grabbing the attention of the beauty industry like, MAC and OPI.

I first, exfoilated my lips and moisturized them, at the advise of Erica of The Glamorous Gleam's post on VG Nicki. The formula of the lippie is a satin and it will bring out every flake and crease. That it does! Even after applying, I saw these crazy creases in my lips!!
I used NK liner in Brown from my local BSS...probably a close color to MAC Chesnut and topped with MAC Dazzleglass in Steppin' Out.....

I have to say....I love Viva Glam Nicki!!! Its a beautiful bright workable pink. Ladies of the brown shade persuasion, don't be afraid of it. I've worn it three days in a row!

~Haul~ CVS Under $20 Haul....

Thursday, March 08, 2012

The NO-BUY is over!! Thank ya Jesus!! The first 30 days were good..but these last 30...painful as HELL.

Had two coupons and list to work out, so I ventured into CVS...This whole haul is less than $20
...receipt's at the bottom:)

I got one of the Revlon Colorstay in Bare Bones ( with $3 extra bucks included), Milani Sail Away ( been eyeing it for WEEKS and Wet N'Wild Cougar Attack.
This Essie Good To Go Rapid Dry Top Coat was free. I purchased an Essie polish a week before and the coupon printed out that I qualified for a free Essie treatment. Always in need of a good fast dry top coat.
I got another one of the Rimmel Kate Collection lipsticks...this one is #14...I have #09 too.
Milani 3D Glitz gloss in Fashion Diva....
Looks like MAC Dazzleglass in Funtabulous...which I don't think they sell anymore. I bought mine at a CCO...
But Fashion Diva ( on the right) is a bit darker but the glitter and consistency is the same, so if you can't get your hands on Funtabulous, Fashion Diva is a close second.

Everything with the coupon, plus a $5.00 Beauty Club coupon (I think that one was my 7th:))....$16.05.
