Weekend Cooking...

Monday, November 10, 2008

The Fall is here and I'm ready to get back in trying new recipes mode. I took a BIG OLE break this summer from trying new recipes, mainly because of my demanding job and empty pockets. But I'm bit better now plus I don't mind firing up the stove and oven when its cold outside. There's only so much you can experiment with in the summer anyway. Really...how many ways can you make a salad or grill chicken? ha!!

I want Rachael Ray's new book, The Big Orange Book. I tried her Pork Chops with Balsamic Strawberry Salad and Pine Nut Orzo recipe this weekend out of her November 2008 magazine and loved it. I tweek it bit as usual.:)

N.O.T.D: Rimmel Milk Chocolate and O.P.I. ?....

Hi cuzins!!

The inspiration for this mani comes from the the non-conformist herself Solange Knowles and her nails. She always has something very corner-nails-spot going on...Thought I'd give it a whirl...

Rimmel Milk Chocolate and O.P.I. mini in ?. Why ?? lol! Well, I got the O.P.I. as an extra in a swap and you nailies know how their minis never have the name on it. I took it outside to get a good look at the color and it seems to be just black in color....

Rural Glamour's Things That Make A Diva Happy Fall 2008...

Thursday, November 06, 2008

Here are couple of things I'm loving and its making me happy this Fall... Ah.....My AKA blanket. I have two of them. The one I sleep with all the time I've had since 1998 and I bought it at a Regional in Orlando. It's been everywhere. My ex use to be wrapped up in it on the couch while taking a nap! It's sooooo warm....
I love Deep Conditioning. Best thing I do for my hair. I DC twice a week with Elasta QP DPR-11.

Of course I LOVE BOO-BOO and NU-NU!!!!! They are so excited about everything from Wal-Mart, to the darkness at 5:30pm, to the leaves, and of course Christmas...

This is the boys on Halloween. Spence told me that he didn't want to dress up, that he was going to get candy anyway, even if he didn't. Wow...dude got the game on lock! Of course, his brother agreed. Saved me some money. We went to eat pizza with the costume money the next day.

I coat myself in baby oil after I get out the shower or tub while wet, then dry off and apply whatever lotion or body butter I'm using that day. I do this in the fall and winter when my skin gets a bit more dry....

I found a three pack of sponge at Target and I love the natural sponge the best. It soaks up shower gel better than any face cloth or synthetic sponge.

I dive into the Word of God daily, some times a couple times a day. I always find the answer to my questions, to my worries, to my thoughts. My pastor said recently that "God is not on a shelf and we can't just pull him down when we need him. The Bible should be a constant study in your life as a Christian." My Momma gave me a Bible last year that has the King James Version and The New Living Version parallel. The easiest reading of the Bible yet!! Dive In!!

I wuv Waffles. Not to put him on blast( because he's reading this, of course)...but the "Plaintiff" can make some waffles and turkey bacon. He would even heat up the syrup. Hmpf! lol!

I love the Fall in South Carolina. Forget the about the Republicans and those eight electoral votes and focus on the beauty of the leaves, trees, and hills....ahhhhh!

My First Family: The Obamas...

Wednesday, November 05, 2008

Check out the First Diva's jewelry and smoky eye with the caramel lip( snaps!!)...SHE IS MY NEW MUSE AND PUSH, HONEY!!

Whew...Let's Breathe...It happened and I thank the Lord it happened....:) Hallelujah!

I couldn't do nothing last night but flip from channel to channel in a nervous wreck. I couldn't even eat dinner. I think I was suffering from "Cautious/Nervous Negro Syndrome" or "CNNS". You know, when you feel like something good is going to happen but you too cautious to let your guard down? I fed the children, let them flip around a bit( every time PRESIDENT Barack Obama came on TV, the Weaver Two started screaming "Barack Obama, Barack Obama!!") My Mother called me about something crazy and I told her I would call her back. She said "You MUST be watching those election results..."

That night...The boys and I got down on our knees to say our prayers. We included Barack Obama and prayed that God gives him the presidency. Prayer does work I tell ya!!!

What a picture...I can't wait til' they move in the White House. I can see Malia and Sasha running from room to room in excitement....:)

Sasha's such a Daddy's Girl...She was showering him with kisses all over his face when he picked her up...so sweet...makes me miss my own Daddy.
Gorgeous...So coordinated.lol!!! Baby Girls got their hair pressed. Daddy put on a suit and Mommy has on a very pretty dress.:)
