~FOTD~ Sally Girl Eyeshadow and Lip Gloss....

Thursday, November 03, 2011

I'm a fan of Sally Girl cosmetics. I have several of the single eyeshadows that I converted to my own "Naked" palette that I reach for on a daily basis. Check it out in my June Favorites vid....

I picked these four items up about three weeks ago for $.99 a piece. Yes, even the quad was $.99. I'm picking up little by little to see what I like instead of hauling alot and forgetting things here and there....if that makes sense...
I'm the quad shadow kit above in 388473 ( it has no name like the single shadows do) and the lip gloss above in 388390 ( no name either)...

This is actually my second stab at the quad. The first go around was TRAGIC! This time was a bit better but both times, I found the shadow to be hard to blend. Medium pigmentation but it can't be moved!

The lip gloss is creamy and smooth, the color in the tube goes on with one application true to color. However, the lasting power SUCKS. I ate one cookie after wearing this one and the color was gone...zip...zero. Same goes for the peach color, I've been wearing that one over the last two weeks. Great color, no longevity.

What do you think? Do you own any Sally Girl goodies, if so let me know what's good and what to look out for!!

~October Beauty Favorites!~

Wednesday, November 02, 2011

October was a great month for me for trying out and finding new beauty products...I even dug up some old but goodies to put back in the roundup!

Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara- This mascara surprised the hell of me! I'm not a Great Lash fan and didn't know why, seriously, I just didn't like it. I picked up Lots of Lashes during a Maybelline CVS sale and I love it. The formula is classic Great Lash but the cone-shaped brush hit every lash perfectly. I also saw somewhere a Youtuber was comparing Lots of Lashes to Lancome Doll Lashes mascara. Sweet!

100% Olive Oil- I watched Shanel Cooper Sykes on You Tube say that she mixes her perfume with olive oil and puts on after she showers and it lasts most of day....she was not lying!! Its my new favorite beauty tip plus you save cash not buying the matching lotion to your perfume.

Mini Vaseline- How cute is this?! I've been using this to tone down my bright pink lipsticks for a subtle flush of color on my lips.

Nuance Shape and Define Brow Kit in Brown- This is my new brow kit. I like the brown color in the palette its a soft brown shade not a harsh black brown some brow kits have for dark hair women. Plus...we don't have Nuance in this parts so I was too excited to try this..and its a winner!

Black Radiance Complexion Perfection Shine Control Primer- If you haven't heard the raves about this...where have you been?!? I will say two words...IT WORKS. Best primer I have ever used. I've been matte longer with this product than with any other primer.

MAC Fairylite Pigment- I've had this piggie...a LONG time but I just start using it as a  brow bone highlighter and its perfect...its a matte but has a low iridescent glow to it. It just fits my complexion well and works with alot of different eyeshadows.

Bath & Body Works Cherry Blossom Lotion- I got this for free with a coupon and I love subtle fresh smell of it.

Julep Essential Cuticle Oil- Its really not the oil I like...but the applicator...a roller ball that you can rub with out a mess right on to your cuticles...

Disclosure- Vaseline and Nuance Brow Kit were sent to me for review without compensation. All of my reviews are honest.

~Rural Style~ Tips for New Thrifters.... Part 2...When You Don't Find "Anything"...

Tuesday, November 01, 2011

This is my thrift haul from Saturday. A clock and three pair of earrings. I saw nothing else in the Sal Val thrift in my hometown. I tried on some Durango boots but they didn't fit...and I had my non- shopping seven year olds with me, so my focus was off.

It happens...you go thrifting and you find nothing. This is for new thrifters...there will be times you go in a store and find NOTHING you want. Its ok!!! Don't you go into other retail stores and find nothing you want? Thrift Stores are just the same. I get new and curious thrifters say that to me all the time "I went in...I didn't find anything"....or...."I'm afraid I won't find anything".  It happens, its ok, the world will not end because that vintage Louis Vuitton or Gucci bag wasn't sitting there for $10 waiting for you. But I have a solution...

Try Try TRY Again!! You must keep going back to same store, find a different store, or find several stores to visit. New merchandise is put out all the time, you might have overlooked something, or it just wasn't anything in there....but I must go back over and over to find things! Don't give up! If you give up, you didn't want to do it anyway. Trust me, I used to loathe my local Sal Val Thrift store, not because there's nothing in there, because its so hometown-everybody wants to have conversation-small town-nosey people-like. I just wanted to shop and not hold a conversation or be someone's personal shopper or answer a zillion questions about what I found.

I hope that you don't give up...this little measly haul...won't make me give up...I'll be back in there on Saturday. lol!

~Fresh Coat~ Kleancolor Mocha....

Thursday, October 27, 2011

Well, I had to take off my beautiful Facets of Fuchsia and do something more conservative for the job hunt hussle I've been on, which seems like forever. But its ok....I think Kleancolor Mocha is the perfect neutral for only a $1 at the BSS. That's two coats, opaque. However, it takes FOREVER to dry, which is very true of  most of  Kleancolor creme formats. I put on a quick dry top coat and it was still crazy sticky two hours later.

I've been asked how to keep my nails from chipping. For me personally, its a matter of nail polish formula, some do last longer than others. One of the best tips I learned in keeping my nails chip free for a couple of days is too make sure you paint the free edge of your nail so that polish is sealed at the edge.

Check out my POST on Chip Free Nails!!!

Me this morning....I'm so tired right now....lol.:)

~Rural Style~ A Scarf is Born!!! MsVCharles' DIY Rope Scarf.....

Monday, October 24, 2011

Just like that....

I watched this video on how to crochet a scarf by MsVCharles....

Went by the local Wal-Mart....picked up some yarn....four hours later ( divided into two days), I had a scarf!!! Talk about Christmas gifts for everyone this winter!! I have for the longest time wanted to learn to crochet but no one who knew how would teach me. I guess it is true what they say, you can learn anything from You Tube.:)

If you are a Carolina Panther fan...I got a scarf for you! Think I'll come up with some designs and sell a couple in my Etsy shop.:)
