~Holiday 2012~ Review: Laura Mercier Deluxe Travel Brush Collection....

Friday, November 02, 2012

Hey Everyone!!

I got another Holiday Beauty set for my family! This time its the Laura Mercier Deluxe Travel Brush Collection. Here are some details on the set:

DELUXE TRAVEL BRUSH COLLECTION INCLUDES: 9 Full-Size Brush Heads (4 Double-Ended, 1 Full-Size)
Double-Ended Secret Camouflage/Camouflage Powder Brush
Double-Ended All Over Eye Colour/ Pony Tail Brush
Double-Ended Flat Eye Liner/Smudge Brush
Double-Ended Brow Definer/Brow Grooming Brush
Full-Size Cheek Colour Brush

Like the information above says, nine full head brushes: four are double ended and one full size.
The brushes come in a hard case makeup bag that includes a magnetic mesh bag in the middle that's removable.
I put some my other full size brushes in the pockets and they fit pretty good....So traveling with these brushes and your other brushes should be a breeze.

This pictures shows the travel brush set it the mesh magnetic bag.....perfect fit!
Full Size Cheek Color Brush- Very soft and fits the apples of my cheek perfectly.
Double Ended Brown Definer/Brow Grooming Brush- I love a "spoolie" for grooming my wild brows. The Brown Definer end has very tight hairs that pick up color very good and was perfect for filling in my brows.
Double Ended All Over Eye Colour/Pony Tail Brush- I was really surprised by the All Over Colour Brush. Its wider than I'm used to but I found it to give me a really great and FAST all over color on the lid because it picks up so much color. The Pony Tail Brush is a brush I'm still getting used it. It doesn't do it for me when it comes to blending but its to big for the outer corner of the eye color. I'm very confused on how to use this end!
Double Ended Secret Camouflage/Camouflage Powder Brush- I don't wear much concealer, but if you do, the small end it great for small areas to cover and the larger end fit great under the eye.

Double Ended Flat Eye Liner/Smudge Brush- I love a smudge brush, great for lower lid color. The Flat Eye Liner is really helping me get the hang of doing winged liner with its flat liner edge.

Consensus:

The brush set is a STEAL at $95. Seriously, nine high end brand brushes with full size brush heads and a beautiful case is an awesome deal from Ms. Mercier. However, if you own some of these brushes, say in a travel size or you don't travel or carry brushes with you, you will not see it as a deal. I only found three of the nine to be a bit unusable to me right now. The brushes are also perfect for everyday use, to put in a gym bag or in your desk at work. I'm loving this set!:)

Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review. All opinions are my own.

~Review + FOTD~ NYX Bohemian Chic 24 Perfect Nude Matte Shadows & 2 Gorgeous Blushes....

Hey Everyone!!

I picked up NYX Bohemian Chic Palette at Ulta a couple of weeks ago with a $5 off $10 coupon.
You all know I love neutrals and I was sucked into this 24 shadows and two blushes deal. lol!

Get a gorgeous free-spirited look using the Bohemian Chic palette! Take on any journey with this portable kit in hand that includes 24 soft matte eye shadows that vary in subtle earth tones, 2 hearty blushes, and 2 duo ended eye shadow applicators to create any look everywhere you go.
After I bought this palette, I got in my car and opened it....and almost went back in to return it. Why?

The neutrals are better suited for cooler toned skins. However, I said I would give it try.:)
*** Excuse the bright highlighting around the brows, I was still learning the sculpted brow technique with the right colors.:)

I played a couple of the dark matte neutrals and some of the lighter neutrals for a couple of days before I came up with something I liked. The formula of the neutrals are very light textured. I don't think it would show up well on lighter skins to be honest. However I get the creative formula behind it. Very subtle neutrals with pops of blue and pink are fashionably descriptive as "bohemian chic"

Check out this "bohemian chic" style collage or....

Soft neutrals, demin blues, natural flushy cheeks. I get it NYX!
The darker nudes are nice but not buildable in color. The blue and plum shades on the 2nd tier are GORGEOUS. They could have made a palette out of the second tier color by themselves!!
Both blushes are gorgeous as well and WOC( Women Of Color) friendly......
Consensus:

I'm still wearing the blushes and playing in the palette. Its one of those "you never know unless you try" products. If I saw a review or saw this twitter 1st I would have probably never bought it. Its. 18.00 but I used a $5 off coupon at Ulta so I spent $13 and some tax which wasn't huge lose since I'm still intrigued by it!
