~DIY Clay Mask for Oily Skin~

Thursday, June 27, 2013

Hey Everyone!

I have a wonderful recipe for a mask that helps control oily skin, especially during the summer. I saw this on Pinterest and a couple of other online places so I can't take the recipe as my own. However, this DIY Clay Mask works wonders on oily skin and on blemishes as a spot treatment.

There are only TWO simple ingredients: Apple Cider Vinegar and Bentonite Clay or "Indian Healing Clay". You can buy ACV at any grocery store and the Bentonite Clay is available at most health food stores, specialty grocery stores, and online.
I started with a bowl, a spoon ( no metal spoons), ACV, and Bentonite Clay....
I measured just enough for my face and neck. That's about three spoonfuls of ACV....
Then, two spoonfuls of Bentonite Clay. The mixture will start to bubble as you mix them together.
It will be a creamy looking mess when its all mixed together!
I applied the mask and let it dry completely. You can feel the mask working, it pulls the skin tight, so tight, you will not be able to move. lol! If that's uncomfortable, just used a thinner layer of mask.

I rinsed with lukewarm water to remove the mask. My skin felt smooth and clean. This mask is best used after you have cleansed your skin of all makeup and exfoliated with your favorite scrub. I will say that I'm not as oily as I have been in the past after using this DIY mask for a couple months along with my regular skin routine. I also make a tiny batch for my pimples when I feel a pimple under my skin before it becomes an eruption.

If you have serious skin issues, please consult your doctor or dermatologist before using this method.

Good Luck!!

Oh Hell No!!!! Beauty Product Misses and No Ways!!!!

Hey Everyone!!

Listen, as much as a love makeup, there are some products that shouldn't leave the shelves, let alone the company's laboratories.  As Kid Fury would say, "Trash!".

These products didn't make the cut for me.  Check it out.....

**Disclaimer** This products did not work for me. ME. Jamie. Rural Glamour. Your favorite cousin. Try and buy at your own risk.

These N.Y.C. Bronzers and Face Powders were entirely to light. I wish I had kept the receipt.
These Sally Hansen Sugar Coats look like bubbling polish on my nails. I see so many nail art variations of them that look great but without any shimmer, they just look nasty.
Kiss I-Envy glue doesn't hold well, Kleancolor liquid liner was too dry even though I liked the felt tip and Rimmel Glam Eyes Day 2 Night, there was no difference in the Volume application and the length application on my lashes.
I love the original powder formula of tarte Park Ave Princess Bronzer but the liquid formula is too light and chalky. The design of the tube with the blush on the end made it messy to use too.

Even though the pigment is STUNNING on these $1 L.A. Colors eyeshadows, they are a pain to store. All three of these shadows were in a plastic container with a few lipglosses and were broken within a week.

Any of these products your favorites?!?!? LOL! I'm serious....let me know in the comments.:))

~DIY At Home Shellac/Gel Nails For Under $10~ Does It Work?

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

Hey Everyone!

I love the concept of gel nails and shellac nails but I have never had any done professionally because I will not paid to have them done. I've heard of people getting gel nail polish applied that costs as much as a new set of acrylic nails. Nope. Plus, the whole process just seems simple enough to do...at home.:)

I came across this pin on Pinterest about a DIY Shellac or Gel Nail Hack" using two Sally Hansen polishes and a regular polish. The trio is suppose to last just as long as shellac polish does without a lamp.

You know I went right out....and pick up the products....

The original pinner or blogger used Sally Hansen Hard As Wraps Powerful Acrylic Gel, her favorite nail polish and Sally Hansen No Chip Acrylic Top Coat. The Sally Hansen products together costs about $10.

I applied the trio using a Kleancolor polish on a Sunday.

I did the same order the pinner did: one coat of Acrylic Gel, two coats of polish and one coat of No Chip Top Coat.
And this was Tuesday.:(

I was disappointed!! Ugh! I love polish but I'm really hard on my nails. I wash dishes, clean, cook and whatever else with my hands. However I want my nails to look good all the time, the polish to last and save money at the same time. I tried the DIY Shellac "hack" twice again using other polishes and the same chippy results came in about two days. One great thing did happen, the Sally Hansen Gel polish used as the base coat has really strengthened my nails!!!!

I'm assuming that individual results vary and this was just my results. Click on the PIN to check out the original post and comments.

Will you be trying this DIY Shellac/Gel hack???

Best High End Makeup Dupes Pins On Pinterest!

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

Hey Everyone!!

I'm a Pinterest Addict!! Through and through! So many ideas and such a great way of putting it all together on boards. One wonderful thing about Pinterest is finding great blogs and sites relating to makeup and fashion. I love dupes or "duplicates" of high end products. For me, high end products are not always accessible financially or physically, so finding close or exact "dupe" of that product is like finding gold!!

Here are some great pins that lead to site that have a host of dupes for high end product lines like MAC, Urban Decay, and many more!

Here's a link to my DUPE BOARD on Pinterest with lots of other great pins for high end dupes!!
