Wet N' Wild ColorIcon Eyeshadow Collection in Poster Child+Swatches +Looks.....

Monday, January 20, 2014

Disclosure: All products were purchased by me.

Hey Everyone!!

Wet N' Wild has releases a brand spring line up and it's PERMANENT!! **Cue the shouting music!!**

No hunting down palettes and nail polish. The items of this collection will show up at your local drugstore that carries Wet N' Wild sooner or later. So, relax.

So far, I have only pick up to items, one of the 5-pans( posting soon) and this 8-pan, Poster Child.

Poster Child is replacing another beloved 8-pan, Blue Had Me Hello. I'm going to need some reasons WHY on that one!

The colors are not named or numbers but shown in the palette as Browbone, Eyelid, Crease, Definer.
 Look #1...

I used the all the pinks on the upper and the green shade on the lower lid to create this look.
I used a bit of the black on the outer V to define.....
 Look #2...

I used the green on the lid, a bit of the blue in the crease and the black to define.....

Consensus....

I'll admit, I watched EmilyNoel83 review this palette on YouTube and she said, swatched and concluded that this palette was not the typical, pigmented WnW 8 pan we are used to. She was right on the money. Completely right. The palette looks visually bright and you think that you are going to get big, bad bright looks out of this girl. However, she's pretty sheer in pigmentation. Even with a cream base ( I used Maybelline Color Tattoo in Just Beige) this is all the color I got to give ya! Now, the black and the very dark blue are deeply pigmented and will not fail you. But if you are needing that big, bold brights....you are not going to get it. Poster Child isn't a total waste, though. I will keep her around to occasionally dip in for sheer pop of color looks.

Have you picked up Poster Child yet? Plan to? Let me know!

My Favorite Nude Lipsticks+ Swatches Updated!!!!

Thursday, January 16, 2014

Disclosure: All products were purchased by me.

Hey Everyone!!

I thought I would update my favorite nude lipsticks for 2014!! If you are interested, here is my favorite nude lipsticks in 2012 (CLICK HERE). These are nude lippies I reach for often. I love the look of a nude lipstick that makes my lips look luscious, "better" in its own natural shade, if that makes any sense. So, some of the nudes I've using now are more browns, cinnamon...the shade of my own natural lip pigmentation.

They are all drugstore or beauty supply store finds, all under $6 ( depending where you shop)

Revlon Mink, Milani Teddy Bare, Milani Naturally Chic, CoverGirl Queen Collection Mocha Locha, L.A. Colors Taupe Envy, NK Camel and NK Natural.

MAC Heroine Dupe Fail and The REAL MAC Heroine Dupe!

Disclosure: All products were purchased by me except Heroine which was won in a giveaway.

Hey Everyone!

So, the other morning, I was on a FB beauty group and a young lady posted this on the timeline.

 And things got interesting....

The conversation was basically, the picture is a fluke. Maybelline Brazen Berry and Wet N' Wild Ravin' Raisin are not dupes of MAC Heroine. Brazen Berry and Ravin' Raisin are not even dupes of EACH OTHER. lol! We have seen these kind of graphics on Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. The product and its dupes, side by side. In defense of the young lady, she didn't personally make the graphic. But, I can't personally tell you, Brazen Berry and Ravin' Raisin are not MAC Heroine dupes.

Maybelline Brazen Berry, MAC Heroine, Wet N' Wild Ravin' Raisin. With the flash on.

Nah. Not even close.

The only drugstore dupe I have for MAC Heroine (right) is Maybelline Violet Intrigue ( the color to the left). Same shade, different textures. Violet Intrigue is a Fall Limited Edition and might be hard to find. Sounds like Miss Violet Intrigue and Heroine have something in common besides color, you can't find neither, no where (Heroine stays sold out).

The whole  beauty dupe culture is one of those moments that you need a sharp eye, keen sense of BS and tight budget. It's so easy to get caught up thinking you are saving money by buying a duplicate of a high product, when actuality, its not even a close color, texture and doesn't work nothing like the real thing. I love dupes but here is some advice, USE GOOGLE. Seriously, do the research and find bloggers, vloggers, sites that have swatches or reviews on the real product and duped one if you are UNSURE of a supposed dupe.

Thoughts?

Hey Everyone!!

I've been updating my Dupe Board on My Pinterest and added some really awesome MAC dupes. I've personally never seen some of these dupes. I love dupes, especially if I can save a couple of dollars and get a really similar or spot on color for less than the regular price. Check out some of the ones on the board and follow me on Pinterest to get updated dupe pins!:)

~2014 Beauty Resolutions!~

Wednesday, January 01, 2014

It's that time again!! I have my yearly Beauty Resolutions!

If you have been following me within the last seven years, I do beauty resolutions because they are easier(sometimes) and fun to do. Plus, I normally meet over half of my list each year. Is it because I'm a beauty addict, dedicated to beauty?  I'll let you decide...

Over the last three years, most of my resolutions have been geared toward makeup technique: winged liner, contouring, lashes, cut crease, color correction. I'm proud to say, I knock all of those out!!

If you would like to check out my 2013 beauty resolutions...click HERE. Also, you can see with ones I actually accomplished on my Instagram...( IG: ruralglamour)

Let's go with the new resolutions!

1) Vitamins for a year.

Ok. This was one of my last year's goals that I didn't meet...at all. Going to try it AGAIN.

2)Practice two-strand twist extension braids.

I love braids in the summer but my skills are not that good. So I'm thinking if I install a set, at least every other month, until the summer, I was have them downpat.

3)Make A Wig

This goal is going to need to accomplished, either this winter or next fall and winter. I can't wear a wig in the summer, its too much heat on my head. However, I have been wanting to make a loose wave human hair full wig or a a curly U-part wig for a long time. My fear is I will screw up some expensive hair. So will start with cheap hair and learn from there.

4)Enter all EASY beauty giveaways

Before Christmas, I won the complete China Glaze 2013 Holiday Collection. For someone who doesn't buy China Glaze because of the price, I was beyond happy. So thought to myself, if I just put some goodness in the universe, it will come back to me, right?!?( I had just did a giveaway on this blog the week before) Let's try this giveaway thing a couple more times.:)

5)Buy a Clarisonic brush.

Time to break down and get one. I have the Olay brush and another generic brush and they are awesome but I feel incomplete as a beauty addict because I don't own one.

6)No new polish until June 2014. Six months of no new polish.

Listen, if you saw what I got at the most recent CVS beauty clearance, plus my China Glaze prize, PLUS bottlse of polish I haven't worn or have wore once, you will see its time for a hiatus of purchasing polish. I only have ten fingers and ten toes, ya know.
