Natural Hair: My Wash Day Essentials for Dry, Porous, 4c Hair......

Hey Everyone!

I wanted to share my Wash Day Essentials and Routine for my dry, porous( please RESEARCH this, it will change your natural hair LIFE), type 4c hair. I used struggle so much with keeping my hair moisturized, until I realized that it was all about layering moisture rich products BEFORE styling this hair. I'm able to retain moisture for days on end when I start off with a good wash day routine.

 I deep condition on dry hair. I deep condition once a week like clockwork. Before I wash, I deep condition on my dry hair. My porous hair takes the DC better dry. Just 15 mins under a plastic cap is perfect.

My favorite products right now are Nene's Secret My Mom's Hair Masque( My Dollar Tree had a ton!! Check out pictures on my Instagram and Suave Moroccan Infusion Color Care Conditioner( their Moroccan Oil Brand Dupe)

I rinse out the DC and wash my scalp with shampoo twice. If I don't wash my scalp once a week, it gets very angry!! I used have flakes and itching but washing my scalp once a week and removing the product from it cleared up the problem. Then I co-wash my hair with a cleansing conditioner. This keeps my hair soft. I don't put this product on my scalp.

My favorites right now are Shea Moisture Strengthen Grow & Restore Shampoo and Herbal Essences Color Me Happy Cleansing Conditioner.

I apply my leave in conditioners to my clean hair. Right now I'm using two, Shea Moisture Strengthen Grow & Restore Leave In Conditioner and Suave Keratin  Heat Defense Leave In Conditioner. Both products are really creamy and my hair loves that creamy moisture.

Now for the moisturizers. After two leave ins...yes...moisturizer!! Both are water based which helps with the layering of moisture. I'm currently using Jane Carter Solution Hair Nourishing Cream and Palmer's Hair Milk.

My last step after all the products are applied, is SEALING in the moisture. I love shea butter based products for sealing in all the products. Normally I make a Olive Oil & Shea Butter whip butter but I was lazy and bought Nene's Secret Gorgeous Gro to seal it all in. After sealing, I section my hair to either be braided down for whole cap or hair wig with a leave out. This routine is also good for twist outs. I just add a styling product( a wrap lotion) before sealing then twist.

That was A LOT I know but it has worked for me for over four years with different products but same regimen.

Review: Always Off Unique Cloths (Makeup Eraser Dupe)

Hey Everyone!!

Ya'll know I'm always down for a dupe.

So the tea on the beauty blogsphere is that Always Off Unique Cloths( sold at Walmart for $2.98, well at MY Walmart) are  The Original Make Up Eraser Dupe (sold at Sephora for $20). I don't own the Sephora one so this is not a comparison post, just a quick review. Stank you very much!!

I went on my IG and posted a pic of Always Off and asked my divas how to use these cloths. The two answers I received were either with or with out cleanser. Just wet the cloth and remove the makeup.

I tried both ways, and of course the cleanser way took off more makeup because of the product. However, when simply wet, the cloth does work. It does remove makeup. Even hard to remove mascara. It does require a bit of "elbow grease" if you will. You are not going just lightly wipe and the makeup will magically come off. You going to have to WIPE it off, if you understand me. So if you are one to be sensitive about pulling and tugging of the skin( I'm not, but I'm not rough with my face either), this is not for you.

What I see is a microfiber material in a towel. Walmart has a cheap version than the Sephora but this towel is the same thing as the microfiber towel people dry their hair with. What a damn hustle! Why didn't think of that!! The mark up on the Sephora  sold version is the grand hustle!

Best Spot Remover Ever!!

Hey Everyone!!!

I just wanted to do a quick drive by "product review" on a product that has been saving mine and my kids' clothes!

I don't know how I do it, maybe because I cook alot, but I always get oil stains in my favorite tops. I've ruined countless tops, including my beloved grey v-neck t shirts from Target with oil splashes and spots. You would think I fry chicken and french fries everyday!

I found this tip somewhere online about Dawn removing grease from oil spots on clothes. I tried it one day and IT WORKED!! Dawn literally brought back to life a cream colored tank that I was about to trash. Best spot remover ever!

Another example....

My sugar lump of son Bubba got grass stains in a pair of brand new khaki shorts the FIRST time he wore them. Unbelievable. As a parent, you are just in awe on how kids will destroy clothes. I believe I might be turning into my mother by saying that. lol! Anyway, I pre-treated the stain with Dawn and added a bit of peroxide on top and let it set for a couple of hours. Then, I threw them in the wash with his other clothes. Stain came right out! And my nerves were restored for another day. #parenthood


I buy the small $.99 bottles of Dawn at my local Dollar General. I also wash my makeup brushes in Dawn. This uncomplicated brush wash does the job and more.

Have you every looked on the tag of your favorite dress and saw some symbols that look like the ones above? These symbols represent how to clean your garment properly whether it's home care or dry clean. I grew up with anti-dry cleaner"ist". She was dead set against dry cleaning so I subconsciously adapted the lifestyle as well. Some things do need to be dry cleaned but others can be cared at home. 

That's where this awesome chart comes in. It gives you all the meaning to the symbols so that you don't wash a dry clean only or you can take care of a garment at home and save a couple of dry cleaning dollars! I pinned it right away and it has really helped me out alot!

My Summer Life Wishlist! Food, Recipes, Beauty, Fashion and more....

Hey Everyone!!!

Summer break starts tomorrow, May 29, 2015 for me. My kids will officially out of school. This summer I'm making a bigger effort to just enjoy the season. I've spent every summer since my kids were born stressing and worrying about money, work, life that I dread the summer all together.

 Then the other day, my laptop had a major problem and it will not usable aka my laptop died. I mourned and even cried over my laptop for about 15 minutes then realized that it's just a piece of equipment that I can get replaced....when I can get it replaced.

My dead laptop put in perspective that I've lost much more a laptop: one apartment, one rental home, two jobs, my health SEVERAL times, my mind SEVERAL times, and loved ones to sickness over 11 years. All those things trump a $300 laptop that I had for 5 years. Although rough and barely hanging on sometimes, I still have my LIFE.

So, I want to do some fun and educational things that I haven't done. Some of the things on this list you will not believe I haven't done or tried.  LOL! I admit, I've lived a very closed off life for awhile. Here we go:

-Try a professional shellac or gel manicure

-Get regular pedicures( at least every three weeks)

-Buy and try a new high end mascara

-Try Chipotle( let me know what to eat there in the comments!!)

-Make sangria

-Wear my natural hair out

-Have some fun with my natural hair

-Find two short wigs

-Make compound butter

-Make potato salad

-Buy a grill

-Make ice coffee

-Make an "adult" Popsicles

-Find the perfect orange lipstick

So far, I'm good with this list, but if something else wonderful to try or do comes up, I'll add it. Maybe I'll start a summer journal just for my experiences like some people travel journal.

Beauty Supply Store Makeup Haul.....

It's been awhile since I hauled makeup at the beauty supply store. The two stores go to consistently do not update their makeup selection a lot so I have to wait a couple of weeks between visits to go in to see if anything is new. Yesterday, I ran up on some goodies! Check it out.....

How To Create a New Mascara!

Hey Everyone!

I've seen this tip for years but I had never tried it. Anytime I've purchased a dry formula mascara or have had a mascara dry up before its expiration date, I just purchased a new mascara. However, I've pledged to not to purchase any more drugstore mascara for now but my budget is not allowing for a purchase of high end one either. Sooo.......

I tried the tip to add a couple of drops of contact lens cleanser to your dry mascara to revive it. I added 10 drops of contact lens cleanser to my L'oreal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza. I closed it tight and let it set until the next day. When I applied to my lashes the next day, it was having a BRAND NEW MASCARA!!!

It actually works! Adding a couple of drops of contact lens cleanser to your dry mascara creates a new mascara.

Fashion Quickies! Tropical Leaf Romper and Fringe Kimono Cardigan.....

Hey Everyone!!!

I popped in one of my favorite stores, Cato to troll the clearance racks( and to see if this cardigan I want has been marked down....) and found two great on trend pieces. I wear 18-20 and Cato is an AMAZING store for plus size girls, big feet girls, wide feet girls...lol! Even with my very paired down style and love of neutrals, I still find goodies in there. Especially shoes!

Anyway, I decided to try on this Tropical Leaf Romper in 18W-20W. It's cute and comfy! It was marked down to only $14.99.

I've been wanting one of those Kimono Cardigans but they look like mini night robes on me. I tried on this one and it was $10.99 but I passed because it looks like a ROBE. LOL!

Covergirl Outlast Nail Gloss in Tickled Pink....

Hey Everyone!

I wore Covergirl Outlast Nail Gloss in Tickled Pink on my hands and toes for Mother's Day.

The formula goes on pretty pigmented and dries super glossy. My toes are holding up well but the polish on my hands lasted only...ONE DAY.

Oh well. Another day of my polish chipping.

L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Eyeshadow in So Over It! Review.....

Hey Everyone!!

This L'Oreal Colour Riche Palette in So Over It! is one of my $1 Goodwill finds. It was still sealed when I purchased it with a Target clearance sticker on it.

 I watched EmilyNoel83 on YouTube do a review of the new L'Oreal 12 color palettes and she mentioned that these quads and those new palettes have the same texture and quality.

 That was a sigh of relief because So Over It! swatched really well. Plus, I want both of the new L'Oreal 12 shade palettes.

 The shadows are beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised because I've never been a fan of L'Oreal shadows.
