~Haul~ NYX, Julep, Wet N' Wild and more!!!

Thursday, November 17, 2011

I don't know if this is a real haul...Its a whole bunch of stuff I've won, bought, hussled.... eh, let's get started....lol!

Thanks to Nouveau Cheap ( again:)) I went on a mad hunt for a  "As Seen On TV" Konad kit. I've been wanting one FOREVER and when I saw that she found out that this is sold in drugstores...I went straight to CVS and found an entire end cap of them. I can't wait to play with it!!!

I have some Julep credits, so last Tuesday, they ran a $15 deal with free shipping on these two polishes. They came in today and colors are GORGEOUS!!! I can wait to wear them ( the colors are Sienna and Emilie).
I bought these two Absolute palettes at a local BSS for $2.99 a piece. I saw them on the Nicka K website and couldn't believe they were in my BSS!!
The colors and pigmentation are pretty good...I'm happy so far... FOTDs to come:).
I found the Wet N'Wild Holiday Baked Shadows yesterday!!!! Too excited but wary at the same time. Baked shadows are sheer unless you apply them wet...eh. Plus, they are just like last year's palette, they don't have the names on them, so I broke out my trusty label maker.
I got Wet N'Wild I Love Matte palette too! Ya'll know I LOVE mattes....

I won all four of these NYX products on their Facebook page by naming all four of their products in the September Allure. PS...the products were listed on the website...its called GOOGLE.:)

~Fresh Coat~ L'Oreal Owl's Night....

I'm going to blame this one on Nouveau Cheap:)

After seeing L'Oreal Owl's Night on her blog compared to another color...I went on a mad hunt for it! I didn't even know it existed, which tells you, I'm slacking off. I need to get back on beauty news game. lol!

I found it pretty quick, too. Its part of the L'Oreal Project Runway Collection ( I wish I could tell you which one) which when I see that massive display, I get dizzy and don't know what I want...overwhelmed. lol!

This is two coats...pretty opaque...a lot more brown than purple and I thought it had more of a purple base to it...
Sorry about the ashy cuticles...I use acetone polish...because it works. My nails don't dry out either. That tells you something about beauty advice, some you listen to, some you don't.

Anyone own Owl's Night?

~My 2nd Nappiversary Week~ Conair Xtreme Instant Heat Multisized Hot Rollers + Giveaway!!!

Monday, November 14, 2011

Even when you are natural...you can play around with styles and beyond. I did just that this past year. When I got the chance to try out Conair Xtreme Instant Heat Multisized Hot Rollers..I was willing and ready!!I don't do much heat on my hair but I thought that this might be a little different since its not a direct heat like a flat iron or hot comb.....

Here's so deets on the rollers:

Conair Xtreme Instant Heat™ Multisized Hot Rollers

If you’re looking for curls, waves or a smooth, polished look, “setting” your hair in hot rollers is a great tried-and-true styling method. Think they’re something you don’t have time for?  Think again! Conair Xtreme Instant Heat Multisized Hot Rollers are fully heated and ready to use in 75 seconds, and they are the ultimate multi-tasker’s beauty tool -- set your hair while doing your makeup, choosing your outfit/accessories or even having your breakfast!  Take them out and watch your whole look come together.

The clips and rollers are both heated for extra hold and infused with ceramic technology for better heat transfer and longer-lasting curls. The set includes 20 ceramic multi-sized rollers:  8 jumbo rollers, 6 large rollers, and 6 medium rollers and 20 lightweight heated clips. Each pink roller has a ready dot to let you know when they’re heated and have stay-cool end rings to protect your fingers while styling.

The Conair Xtreme Instant Heat Multisized Hot Rollers are available nationwide at mass market and drug store retailers, as well as atwww.conair.com for an average retail price of $31.99-$39.99. Also, Conair is currently offering a $5 rebate for the hot rollers that is available here starting Oct. 10thhttp://www.conair.com/xtreme-hot-rollers-rebate-cninfo-25-456.html

Pros:
-Heats fast and stays warm
-Great for when wearing your natural hair straight or wigs or braids!
-Gave me good curls, even though didnt last long:(

Cons:
-The first time I used them, I didn't have enough curlers for my hair or whole head. So if you have more hair or a bigger head, like me, its not enough rollers for your whole head...in my opinion.
-My curls did revert to frizz but a good silicone heat product would probably stop that if applied before.

Consensus:

-I really like them!! I've never owned hot rollers and always wanted too! I have a former friend who was the hot roller queen (lol!), she could whip a style with those things in a heartbeat. She was also a pageant girl, so that added to her hot roller expertise. I wish I could have called her about these, she would've loved it! I plan on playing with them more, next time with a good heat protectorant because that is heat on the hair.
I created a texture bang with the rollers Sunday morning. I had some medium twists in and I took them out and put a couple rollers in.  It came out cute!

Friday, November 11, 2011

My Big Chop....November 11, 2009

Happy 2nd Nappiversary to me!!! Two years fully natural! I always say that because I've been "natural" but with "little" texturizer in the past or relaxed ends I would not let go off. These two years have been something else...and for the next week, I'm going focus on what I'm using, my lessons I learned this year, a GIVEAWAY:), and much more!!!!

Me at one year natural......
Me at two years natural!!!

I washed my hair my last night, twisted it and then took the twists out and pinned them up. No length checks...no straightening my hair....no blowing it out for me on this day. I just wanted do what I normally do with my hair, celebrate the day and be happy!!! ( Even though I got a lingering chest cough, possibly bronchitis:/ )
The side of today's style...

The back of the style...

I also gave myself a gift for MY NAPPYVERSARY!!! lol!!! I mean, that's what people do on anniversaries, right? Plus, I'm a girl who ALWAYS gives herself gifts.:)

I finally purchased ( with the help of some Amazon credits) The Science of Black Hair. I've had it since Tuesday and I can already tell you...its is AWESOME. I've had my head in it every single chance I get!  Definitely an investment for the newly natural to the seasoned natural.....just phenomenal and I'm not even halfway thru it!!!

So, please stay tuned all week for the giveaway ( which will be up Sunday), posts, pictures and help me celebrate this week!!!!

~Fresh Coat~ Revlon Carbonite and Julep Order....

Tuesday, November 08, 2011

Of course!! Of course! I was on the mad hunt for Revlon Carbonite. When hear "dupe" or "similar" to said high end cosmetic brand product...I got to have it!

Carbonite is suppose to be a "dupe" of Chanel Graphite. I got my Carbonite at Big Lots. Honestly, I never saw the Carbonite display when it was in drugstores in this area. My Big Lots had tons of them. Good job on the advertising and marketing on this one Revlon.:/

This is two coats....went on a bit thick,  but I guessing because its loaded with shimmer. I like it alot and I've been wearing since Friday with a bit of chipping but not much.

I wanted show how I polish the free edge of my nail to prevent water and other products from seeping into the nail bed and chipping so early. Messy, but it works:

Just ordered "Sienna and Emilie" for $14 for both with free shipping!!!!  Can't wait to see what the green looks like in person....Click HERE to get your two with free shipping by Midnight tonite...use code tuesday!

You can also sign up for the first Julep Maven box like I got for $5 Click HERE to sign up and any of these codes: FB, FIRST5, or WELCOMEMV5. Its a great way to get a package of nail polish and goodies thats worth $60!
