~Fresh Coat~ Revlon Colorstay Polish in Bare Bones #300

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Hey Everybody!!

I wore Revlon Colorstay Polish in Bare Bones over the weekend. This is two coats and I could have gotten away with just one. The opaqueness is just everything! First two days, no chips, the polish looked great. However, Sunday rolled around and the chipping started rolling in. By the time I washed my hair today, I was seeing polish in my hair, big chunks of chipped polish. I don't know what the time frame suppose to be on these, but Colorstay, Colorchips in four days. Womp:(

I thought Bare Bones reminded me of a lighter Essie Case Study. I like a taupe-y nude shade. I'll probably try this on my toes too, since I do like a neutral color break from all the colors I wear in the summer.

Colorstay had some other interesting colors. Do you own any? What colors should I pick up? Let me know!!!

~Haul~ E.L.F. Cosmetics...

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Call it rant....but I can't buy E.L.F. products like everyone else can in their local Target:( Local as in 30 miles away...no 45 miles away....and they MIGHT have a sprinkling of e.l.f. items but not a full wall like some Tar-jays. Sheesh.

I braved another e.l.f. order haul...the last one, over two years ago, was not good. I waited two weeks to receive it. I got this order in less then four days. Every since then, I've been picking stuff here and there from Walgreens, Big Lots and my new makeup hot spot, good ol' Dollar General.

Here's the haul!!!

I got two of the Blending Brushes, an Eye Crease brush and the Studio Powder brush.I see alot of girls on YT use the Powder Brush as a foundation brush and I can attest to that claim that it is an AWESOME foundation brush!!!
I also got all three of the Eyelid Primers. I've used the the basic shade and champagne colored one and they work really good so far.
These two new products caught my eye. I got the High Definition Concealer Setting Powder and Mist & Set Spray. Using them as we speak...reviews soon!!!
I must be obsessed with red polish because I got Smokin' Hot and a hot peach shade in Party Peach.....
Lastly, I got two of the Matte Lip Colors. The nude shade is a no good for me. Wayyyy too light, not even workable. The red is perfect, just perfect!!! Also, got one of the Waterproof Eyeliner Pens in Black.

Starting to feel my way through e.l.f. again....Do you have any favorite e.l.f. products that I should pick up? Let me know in the comments so I can start another "wishlist" maybe even a small haul!!!

Winning Big in Online Auctions!

It’s the thrill of the sport. It’s the passion behind winning. It’s the competitive drive. Wondering what I’m talking about it? Bidding on online auctions and winning awesome goodies! Yes, placing a small bid, like on a penny auction, watching the price and want for the object rise brings out emotions of every kind. I personally love penny auctions because it gives you a change to start low and bid in different increments until you are either right where you a want to be or sometimes over your head! LOL!

In the last 10 years, ever since I discovered online auctions, I’ve bidded on and won the gamut of items. My favorite items would include a Betsy Johnson hand bag, a brand new discontinued Victoria’s Secret perfume (remember when they did the Horoscope fragrances in 2000?), a Kate Spade pencil bag complete with pencils and authentic MAC cosmetics. Some of my key tips would be to start as low as the bidding will go, even if it’s a penny and take it slow. If the auction isn’t’ up for a week, watch it for a while after that first bid. Normally, the last couple of hours of the auction are the key ones but you want to test the waters by bidding early.  Hope that these tips and tricks help you in your next pursuit online when winning that ultimate must have item!

A Big Thank You To Great Plumbers!

On a hot July day in 2011, I went into the bathroom to find that toilet was overflowing. As much as I’m a confident woman, a Jill of all trades…I was stopped in my tracks by all the water. What do I do? Apparently, one of the kids that I have my “possession”, flushed, flushed and FLUSHED the toilet until Lake Superior was on my bathroom floor. I didn’t even hesitate, I went old school and open up the yellow pages of the city phone book, picked the biggest ad and called that plumber!

Nearly an hour later, two gentlemen came to the house and assessed the problem. It was more than a clogged toilet but some clogged pipes. There was no fumbling or second guessing because those plumbers went immediately to work! Somewhere outside there is a “manhole” that’s in the yard and one of the guys pulled out:

-a facecloth
-two toy cars
-a plastic ball
-a fingernail clipper

I was speechless!! LOL!The plumbing professionals had the problem done and solved in about two hours. The plumbers left the bathroom clean and yard back the way it was. They even told me that the bill would be in the mail and call if there were any other problems. A wonderful sigh of relief blanketed my home that July day. Thank God for reliable, professional plumbers!

~Hair~ Review: Essentious Hair Care

Monday, March 12, 2012

Ahh....are you ready for some new hair product reviews? I got a couple coming up and we are going to start first with Essentious Hair Care. I was sent the Complete Package ($45) for review and I've use the products for about six weeks. Let's get started!

 Essentious Exonerate Gentle Shampoo-
"This gentle, moisturizing shampoo uses organically-based emulsifiers with a base of Aloe Vera gel, taking advantage of its renown for healing and moisturizing. It has a rich lather and a light, refreshing scent. Sulfate Free."

Pros:
- very gentle cleansing shampoo, something that you can used at least every two weeks for gentle cleansing if you co-wash.

-cleans the scalp well

- smells like vanilla

Cons:
-Not a clarifying shampoo. It didn't feel like I got a stripped cleansing which I like to do before a do a protein treatment.

Essentious Rejuvenate Strengthening Protein Treatment-
"This protein treatment rebuilds your hair structure and restores protein lost during chemical treatments and heat styling. Stops breakage, fortifies damaged hair, and strenghthens. "

Pros:
- It worked like a medium to strong protein treatment with Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein and Hydrolyzed Keratin, two proteins that can penetrate and rebuild the hair strand.

- has the same vanilla smell as the shampoo. All the products have the same consistent smell which I like, that little detail builds a great scent in the hair!

Cons:
-Needs a good clarifying shampoo before to see results. I used the Exonerate Shampoo before this treatment didn't work well on my hair. But when I used a regular sulfate shampoo and then the Rejuvenate Treatment, it worked perfectly. I had no breakage problems for about two weeks like a normal protein treatment should work.

Essentious Hydrate Conditioning Treatment
"This moisture treatment restores moisture lost during chemical treatments and heat styling. Penetrates the hair to provide moisture within the hair shaft. "

Pros:
-a great moisturizing deep conditioner...15 minutes really made a huge difference in the softness of my hair.
-it has Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein which could be used for a light protein treatment as well.

Cons:
-Its got a bit of a thick, whipped consistency that was a little difficult to get out of a bottle. Maybe a jar would work better.
-It has good slip, but only after it has sat on my hair for about 15 minutes. Before that, I couldn't detangle with it freshly on but after sitting for awhile, my comb slipped right through.

Essentious Shine Daily Moisturizer
"Moisturizes hair with penetrating coconut oil. "

Pros:
-I like the pump action of the oil. It gives you  just enough for the coverage you need.

-the coconut oil penetrates the hair for strengthening.

-I used this on a blow out because it does have grapeseed oil which is awesome for heat styling and I loved the results! Great for heat styling!

Cons:
-I wouldn't use this as a moisturizer, mainly because my hair demands a water based moisturizer. It could be a good sealant,if your hair like light sealants but my hair likes heavier more shea butter and wax sealants.

-I didn't see a big shine difference but I don't have dull hair, my hair has a good natural sheen to it.

-If you are a good "mixologist"...You could mix the coconut oil, grapeseed and fragrance But, I'm not. lol! I would have to buy this product.

Overall.....

For $45, you can get the whole kit, try for yourself, which isn't a bad price for four products. If you want to buy them separately, I suggest to buy the Exonerate shampoo, Hydrate treatment and the Shine oil. I really liked the Essentious products with a tweek here and there, they fit right into my hair regimen:)

So what do you think? Have you tried Essentious products? Let me know!

I received a free product (or products) for review purposes. I did not receive any form of compensation from the company. All opinions are my own and not influenced in anyway. My reviews are my personal and honest opinions
