Rural Glamour: Colorful Cat-Eye..Inspired by Allure Magazine Feb. 2010...

Sunday, January 31, 2010

The inspiration for this look was a picture I saw in February 2010 Allure Magazine. Its makeup done by Tom Pacheaux for Derek Lam. I need some practice on interpreting looks from magazines and face charts. Sometimes I can't translate from picture to face....
Here's my look...I used two NK HD e/s' and NYX e/s in Orange( I think) and everything else is just basic...

Review: Victoria's Secret Deep Nourishing Lip and Body Moisture Balm...

Ya'll all know I don't like lip balm, chapstick, anything greasy on my mouth before I put on greasy lipstick and gloss! lol! But, lip balm is soooo necessary and we have had the weirdest winter EVER in the South. So, I picked up Victoria's Secret Deep Nourishing Lip and Body Moisture Balm right around Christmas for $7.

-I like the size. Its big and two swipes will cover my mouth.
-I love the smell. Classic Vickie's with a mix of buttery-ness....
-Works on the body great too...I pulled this out a many of times in the absence of lotion to hit those ashy spots on my hands.
-Its greasy. Guess it the shea
-The top is not secure. It kept coming off as it rolled around in my bag. Maybe screw on top would be better

-Hate the top, love the product. Guess I can live with greasy mouth as long as its not flaky lips.:)

Four Mascaras and Jamie...Mascaras I'm using now...

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Four me.:) I'm between four mascaras right now...I can't do a review on just one because they all do different things for me.

Rimmel Eye Magnifier: Pulls out my lashes for length and I can layers on the coats without it getting hard quick.

Rimmel Glam'Eyes Lash Flirt: Volume and length plus its SUPER EXTRA black. I love this mascara with dark eye shadows

Beauty Treats Waterproof Mascara: For day full of tears...that's only time I do waterproof mascara. Preferably, Sunday.:)

Revlon Beyond Natural Defining Mascara:I love the wand and brush on this mascara. No fancy rubber brush, good ole' fashion application great for quick length.

Shopping My Stash: Besame Cosmetics Eye Shadows....

Ahhh....In the depths of my pigment box, I found these press samples of Besame Cosmetics Eye Shadows in Socialite Brown, Black Pearl,Pistachio, Plum Dandy and Shimmer Beige( I also own Peacock Blue in the regular size). Back in 2006, I did a sparkling review on the line...I love the pigmentation and wear on these shadows. About a year ago, the company had a massive sale prompting people to think they were closing but they have not!!! And they are on Twitter!!

Haul: Wet N' Wild, Sally Hansen and N.Y.C....

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

Ya'll have heard me talk about the Green's Salvage Store here in my hometown and goodies I come across...Lately, they have had a ton of Sally Hansen and WnW stuff, so as I was stopping in to load up on the kids' snacks and canned goods for dinner I grabbed a couple things. Every thing was $.50 a piece, no lie. So I spent $3.50. that I shouldn't have spent since I only have $15.00 to my name and I know I'll have to pump gas. As my mother would say, "At least it wasn't a pack of cigarettes" **hangs head in shame** lol!

Wet N'Wild Mega Shimmer Dust in Pink Sugar and Golden Poppy Sally Hansen Satin Effects l/g in Pleasure, Seduction, and Glamourous( have two of these all ready LOVE THEM!) N.Y.C. Eye 2 Eye Duos in Blue Smoke and Heather Plum

RG Challenge:MAC Shadowy Lady...Day 3....

Day 3 of the MAC Shadowy Lady Challenge...I paired it up with the blue shade out of NYX Team Spirit trio and Shadowy Lady in the crease and Lancome Chic on the brow bone.

It's a bit rushed...I've been crazy tired for some reason so after I got the kids off to school and did some house cleaning, I went back to sleep and woke up at noon!
Four more days to go!!

RG Challenge: MAC Shadowy Lady....Day 1 and 2....

Monday, January 18, 2010

Sometime I was on Twitter and I was complaining that day that every YT Beauty guru video I was watching they were using MAC Shadowy Lady eye shadow. I didn't get the hype of it. Its a almost black, eggplant matte purple. Nothing special to me. And I own it! Its in the 2007 holiday palette I got at the CCO.
Sooo....I thought I would challenge myself to like Shadowy Lady by using it EVERYDAY this week! So the look in the first two pictures is Sunday....I used it was MAC Post Haste which was a CCO purchase fail.
Today, I paired it with NK HD #2023( a emerald green).......
That look was okay, I guess...*sigh*
If you got any ideas, posts, videos on how to use Shadowy Lady...hit me up in the comments!

Review: Victoria's Secret Pink Nourishing Shave Cream....

Friday, January 15, 2010

I started using VS Pink Nourishing Shave Cream a couple weeks ago after getting it in a 3 for $15 deal for VS Pink products...

-smells amazing. a combination of sweet floral and real shea butter
-left my legs very soft and nick free. I can nick my legs with a new razor so this was a good try for me!
-the package was easy to grasp in the water. No slip and slip container issues!
-Just $5.And you only need a little more than a quarter size to cover your leg...if you are short like me:)

-Even though its a "Shaving Cream", the consistency was little 'lotiony'. It wasn't as creamy as I thought it would be. I thought maybe my legs were too wet but, no, its not as creamy as I would have thought it to be.

-Love it!!! Great price, Great shaving cream:)

Review: Almay Pure Blends Eye Shadow and Lip Gloss....

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

I picked up all the Almay Pure Blends Eye Shadows and one Almay Pure Blends Lip Gloss during my 1st CVS Clearance run.( btw, I went back today to see if the Maybelline 50% stuff had been marked down some more...nada)

The eye shadow colors: Cocoa, Steel, Lavender, Sage, and Oatmeal and the lip gloss is Nude.

I'll admit, I ignored these when they first came out thinking they were not brown girl friendly...

Sometime doubt will bite you in the
I love them:) Seriously, they are soft textured and beautiful on my skin. They blend well and give just enough color for a natural look...

In today's look, I'm wearing Sage on the lid, Cocoa in the crease, and oatmeal blended from the crease up to the brow...

***Excuse the lip gloss on my teeth. I didn't even see it til I downloaded the photos!***

The lip gloss, however, was not as exciting. The initial application was oily, but I like it has no taste and practically no smell. The nude is really pretty paired up with my faithful MAC Cork liner.

If your CVS has any Almay Pure Blends eye shadows left ( at 75%) grab them up.:)

Review:Revlon Age Defying Instant Firming Face Primer....

Monday, January 11, 2010

Revlon Age Defying Instant Firming Face Primer ( whew! seriously cosmetic companies...tone these names DOWN) is a CVS Clearance goody. I was giddy to find it since I don't normally wear primers. Its time to try out some!

-The consistency is like a moisturizer. Smooth and sinks into the skin.
-I did see after applying the primer and my foundation a change in my pores. They looked less exaggerated, but just a little.

-The SMELL is awful. It smells like craft glue..very chemical. Ugh!
-If it hadn't been 75% off, I would've bought it. Not it a drugstore primer for 12.00. I can get Smashbox primer for a couple more dollars than that and no horrid smell.
-What 'Firming'?
-What 'Defying'?

-Could be okay product without the smell and price.
