My Summer Life Wishlist! Food, Recipes, Beauty, Fashion and more....

Thursday, May 28, 2015

Hey Everyone!!!

Summer break starts tomorrow, May 29, 2015 for me. My kids will officially out of school. This summer I'm making a bigger effort to just enjoy the season. I've spent every summer since my kids were born stressing and worrying about money, work, life that I dread the summer all together.

Then the other day, my laptop had a major problem and it will not usable aka my laptop died. I mourned and even cried over my laptop for about 15 minutes then realized that it's just a piece of equipment that I can get replaced....when I can get it replaced.

My dead laptop put in perspective that I've lost much more a laptop: one apartment, one rental home, two jobs, my health SEVERAL times, my mind SEVERAL times, and loved ones to sickness over 11 years. All those things trump a $300 laptop that I had for 5 years. Although rough and barely hanging on sometimes, I still have my LIFE.

So, I want to do some fun and educational things that I haven't done. Some of the things on this list you will not believe I haven't done or tried.  LOL! I admit, I've lived a very closed off life for awhile. Here we go:

-Try a professional shellac or gel manicure
-Get regular pedicures( at least every three weeks)
-Buy and try a new high end mascara
-Try Chipotle( let me know what to eat there in the comments!!)
-Make sangria
-Wear my natural hair out
-Have some fun with my natural hair
-Find two short wigs
-Make compound butter
-Make potato salad
-Buy a grill
-Make ice coffee
-Make an "adult" Popsicles
-Find the perfect orange lipstick

So far, I'm good with this list, but if something else wonderful to try or do comes up, I'll add it. Maybe I'll start a summer journal just for my experiences like some people travel journal.

So what are your plans for the summer, big or small? Let me know in the comments!!

My Art Print + Wall Art Wishlist from Minted! #minted #art

Sunday, May 24, 2015

Hey Everyone!

Every since the 1st of the year, I've been searching for a new piece of art for one of my bedroom walls. I did a huge purge of my things in January and a mini one this month because transitioning into more of a minimalist lifestyle. More of that as I move into it.:)

I spotted some beautiful pieces on a site called Minted. Minted carries all kinds of cards, gift, paperie, and  stationary and most recently added a stunning selection of art prints and wall art. The wall in my bedroom is not huge so I'm looking a simple print, something that makes me happy each time I look at it. Especially after a rough day!

Here's some I'm loving and wishlisting....I can be so indecisive!

I took the "organic" process and just scrolled through the page and picked up the pieces that spoke to me. But you could totally use the filter, choosing the type: style, shape, color or Editor's Choice to make a more time efficient choice. Go to www.minted.com/art to  fall into some amazing pieces and refresh the walls, shelves, etc in your home.

Tell me what you think of my choices? Go to www.minted.com/art and let me know which pieces speak to you in the comments!!

Beauty Supply Store Makeup Haul.....

Wednesday, May 20, 2015

Hey Everyone!

It's been awhile since I hauled makeup at the beauty supply store. The two stores go to consistently do not update their makeup selection a lot so I have to wait a couple of weeks between visits to go in to see if anything is new. Yesterday, I ran up on some goodies! Check it out.....

- Kiss Gray Hair Cover for my edges and not my grays. LOL! I have several grays but I haven't got to the point where I'm interested in covering them.

-Stretchy headbands
-Nicka K HD Concealer in Fawn
-Starry Creamy Concealer Palette in #4
-Beauty Treats Perfect Color Concealer in 06
-Beauty Treats Neon Lusters in 513
-Kleancolor Madly Matte Lipstick in Fandango. I held off getting a lot of colors of these Kleancolor lipsticks, because I know Kleancolor well and this may not be the lavender purple matte lipstick I want it to be and the other colors may not be either.....well......
I was right. Kleancolor TRIED it.
Kleancolor Fandango and Neon Lustre 513 swatched. Next.

Do own any of these products? What do you think? Let me know!!!

How To Create a New Mascara!

Tuesday, May 19, 2015

Hey Everyone!

I've seen this tip for years but I had never tried it. Anytime I've purchased a dry formula mascara or have had a mascara dry up before its expiration date, I just purchased a new mascara. However, I've pledged to not to purchase any more drugstore mascara for now but my budget is not allowing for a purchase of high end one either. Sooo.......

I tried the tip to add a couple of drops of contact lens cleanser to your dry mascara to revive it. I added 10 drops of contact lens cleanser to my L'oreal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza. I closed it tight and let it set until the next day. When I applied to my lashes the next day, it was having a BRAND NEW MASCARA!!!

It actually works! Adding a couple of drops of contact lens cleanser to your dry mascara creates a new mascara.

Will you try this easy, cheap beauty hack? Let me know!!

Fashion Quickies! Tropical Leaf Romper and Fringe Kimono Cardigan.....

Thursday, May 14, 2015

Hey Everyone!!!

I popped in one of my favorite stores, Cato to troll the clearance racks( and to see if this cardigan I want has been marked down....) and found two great on trend pieces. I wear 18-20 and Cato is an AMAZING store for plus size girls, big feet girls, wide feet girls...lol! Even with my very paired down style and love of neutrals, I still find goodies in there. Especially shoes!

Anyway, I decided to try on this Tropical Leaf Romper in 18W-20W. It's cute and comfy! It was marked down to only $14.99.

The romper is also online HERE.

I've been wanting one of those Kimono Cardigans but they look like mini night robes on me. I tried on this one and it was $10.99 but I passed because it looks like a ROBE. LOL!

Look at Ms. Thang here...looks good on her.... Hmmpt. Buy it HERE. :)

Are you feeling Rompers and Kimonos for the Spring and Summer!?!? Let me know!

Covergirl Outlast Nail Gloss in Tickled Pink....

Hey Everyone!

I wore Covergirl Outlast Nail Gloss in Tickled Pink on my hands and toes for Mother's Day.

The formula goes on pretty pigmented and dries super glossy. My toes are holding up well but the polish on my hands lasted only...ONE DAY.

Oh well. Another day of my polish chipping.

L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Eyeshadow in So Over It! Review.....

Tuesday, May 05, 2015

Hey Everyone!!

This L'Oreal Colour Riche Palette in So Over It! is one of my $1 Goodwill finds. It was still sealed when I purchased it with a Target clearance sticker on it.

I watched EmilyNoel83 on YouTube do a review of the new L'Oreal 12 color palettes and she mentioned that these quads and those new palettes have the same texture and quality.
That was a sigh of relief because So Over It! swatched really well. Plus, I want both of the new L'Oreal 12 shade palettes.

The shadows are beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised because I've never been a fan of L'Oreal shadows.

Do you own any of the L'Oreal Colour Riche quads? Which ones? Let me know!

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Dig Fig and Hydro Electric Review.....

Monday, May 04, 2015

Hey Everybody!!

If you follow me on Instagram, You know I scored a Sally Hansen Miracle Gel set at an awesome price from CVS. I've been wanting try this polish forever! So let's get into this review!

I purchased the set from CVS. In this set,the Gel Top Coat and the Gel Color in  Dig Fig was included.

I applied one coat of Dig Fig and one coat of the Gel Top Coat.

This is the wear on my left hand after two days. My right hand was worse.

Then I found a clearance Gel Color in Hydro Electric in Target for $5.58. I used a $2 off coupon that is found inside of the Dig Fig Gel Color Kit's box and got it for $3.58. The Gel Color alone ranges up to $9.99. I haven't seen any where cheaper than $10.
This is Day One.
This is Day Two
This is Day Three. After three days, both hands were a chipped mess.

With Hydro Electric, I applied two coats of Gel Color and two coats of Gel Top Coat.

I gave both polishes the run around. That means, I wore no gloves while washing dishes or cleaning, applied no extra top coats or no extra touched ups.

The Gel Top Coat is fast drying.
( I tried the Gel Top Coat on top of a regular polish and it didn't make the polish last any longer than usual)

Overall.....

I wasn't disappointed because I was kind of expecting this kit not to work. Most of these drugstore gel coat kits that don't require any heat lamp don't last well on my nails. I've tried several including a DIY hack from Pinterest with no luck. I did like that the Gel Top Coat was fast drying. The color Hydro Electric lasted longer than Dig Fig. The Gel Colors I had were also very opaque but neither had any lasting power no more than a regular polish.

Well, after alllllllll of these drugstore/DIY gel color kits, I'm finally going to go for the gusto, a salon Shellac Gel Color. Stay tuned for that episode!!!

Have you tried any drugstore or salon Gel colors? What are your favorites? Let me know!
