Jordana Modern Matte Lipsticks in Matte Frappacino and Matte Dare.....

Tuesday, January 27, 2015

Hey Everyone!!

I picked up a couple of the new Jordana Modern Matte lipsticks at Walgreens a couple of weeks ago. As part of my beauty resolution this year( I only have one), I only bought to two shades, Matte Frappacino and Matte Dare. I'm resolving to make better beauty buys and not buying an entire collection, just buying shades and products that speak to me. Hopefully, I can save some money and space in my collection.

Matte Dare and Matte Frappacino

The two shades that I picked I absolutely love. The lipsticks' consistency swipes on full coverage within 1 to 2 swipes but the formula is kind of skippy, it doesn't go on smooth, not even on moisturized lips. That's my only complaint, not  having a smooth application.  I don't think I'll be picking up anymore shades, I've seen them at two other Walgreens and wasn't interested in the other colors.

Have you tried the new Jordana Modern Matte Lipsticks? What are your favorite colors? Let me know in the comments!

NYX Wicked Lippie in Immortal.....

Hey Everyone!!!

When I spotted this swatch-fest of comparisons/possible dupes of LE MAC Gunner to other lipsticks, I was immediately intrigued by NYX Betrayal and Immortal from the Wicked Lippie collection. I actually found Immortal but not Betrayal at the nearest Ulta.

Immortal is so blue in the picture but I posted a picture of me with it on IG and one of Sorors said it looked purple.
Blue-purple....ish??? Eh, I'm not a blue lipstick fan. That pushes my comfort zone. I actually have a beauty comfort zone. LOL

What do you think? Do you own any of the NYX Wicked Lippies???

Pin Of The Week! DIY Zoya Remove+......

Hey Everyone!!!

Last week I was trolling the #NailGlossip on Twitter and found out that there is a DIY/dupe of my favorite nail polish remover, Zoya Remove+. I love Remove+ because it takes off all your polish and leaves you nails moisturized without any film or stickyness. But, it's wayyy over my coins, it's not cheap by any means, for polish remover. Last time I actually bought it was after I receive an income tax refund. LOL I bought the bottle in the picture below and used it UP. Now I used the bottle with some regular acetone in it.

The gals on the #nailglossip hashtag stated the recipe for Remove+ but I went over to Pinterest and found several pins on it.

As soon as I buy some glycerin, I'm making some! Here is the PIN for the DIY Zoya Remove+ and come over and follow me on Pinterest HERE!!

A Fresh Coat Of Polish: Pure Ice Flirt Alert.....

Hey Everyone!!

I had this odd craving for the perfect pink polish. I wanted a pink polish that was pretty on the hands and pretty on the toes! I just knew, I was going have to spend some money, like buy an OPI polish or something to get the perfect shade. In my opinion, even though there are great mass market/drugstore polishes, the prestige end polish just doesn't fail when looking for a specific color polish.

Welp, I got proved wrong last week.

I found this Pure Ice polish in Flirt Alert. I bought it on a whim, thinking it was just ok.

Flirt Alert is two coats of creamy opaqueness!!! And this photo was taken on Monday, after applying on a busying Friday. I got tip wear, I NEVER have tip wear, only chips. And as of this Tuesday, Flirt Alert is still going strong. I'm stunned, I have two other Pure Ice polishes and they don't hold up like this. What did I do different? I don't know!! I feel like I have on a gel polish application.

Do you have any favorite pink polishes? Let me know in the comments!!

DIY Kate Spade Glitter Earrings........

Monday, January 19, 2015

Hey Everyone,

I was trolling Instagram on Friday night and came across a post from someone I follow about DIY Kate Spade glitter earrings. I was like "The glitter earrings I've pinned about a million times on Pinterest are an easy DIY?!?!?"

The Earrings. They retail $38 a pair and are sold out.

I was in Walmart the NEXT DAY to buy supplies.

Yep....Did that!! Here's how....
You will need:

A clear rhinestone stud pair of earrings. I chose the ones sold at Walmart because those are the ones most of the DIYs on IG and Pinterest are using because they are around the same size as the Kate Spade ones. But you can use any rhinestone stud earrings you like.

Glitter polish. I have a TON of glitter polish.

Clear Fast Dry Nail Polish.
Basically you apply the polish to your liking. So if you want the earrings completely opaque with glitter, you will do a couple of layers.

Allow the layers to dry a bit before applying another layer. That method allows the glitter to adhere.

When you have the coats to your liking, apply a clear of coat of fast dry polish all over the earring, including the metal parts, so that it will not tarnish.

I did my earrings at night, so I allowed it to dry overnight and they were perfect for next day wear!

Here are some gold ones I made. I'm OBSESSED! I need to make some silver glitter ones next!!

Are you going to try this DIY? Let me know in the comments!

Pin Of The Week! How To Remove Wrinkles From Your Clothes Without Ironing.....

Hey Everyone!!

I grew up in an ironing/iron EVERYTHING household. My Granny even ironed the sheets and curtains. So, being wrinkled or going without ironing is so foreign to me! I saw this super cute info-graph on Pinterest that show different ways to knock wrinkles out of clothes. I often do the throw it in the dryer method.

A Fresh Coat Of Polish! City Color Nail Polish in Citrus.......

Hey Everyone!!

These gloomy January days have me, of all people, craving some color. At least on my nails.

I dug City Color Citrus out of my stash. It reminds me of sunshine which I terribly needed.

Ok, January, your time is up, sis!!!! Bring on some cool sunshine!

A Fresh Coat of Polish! Sally Hansen Insta Gel Strips Starter Kit......

Thursday, January 08, 2015

Hey Everyone!

I picked up the Sally Hansen Insta Gel Strips Starter Kit during the recent CVS Beauty Clearance for 75% off and $7.49. What a deal, right? Plus, I have been dying to buy this kit but the regular price and the countless iffy reviews I read and watched of the kit was a put off.

I got some red polish shade kit. lol! I don't even know the name of it. The application is really easy. If you are familiar with Sally Hansen Polish Strips ( which I LOVE) then these are the basically the same application with a clear gel polish on top and cured with a mini lamp.

I'm the kind of girl who actually reads instructions...so I read the instructions and did as followed.

And this was the end result. I thought it looked decent but the strips were not adhering as tightly as the original polish strips do even with the gel coat cured on top....

Fifteen minutes later...two of them were peeling OFF. I just took all off. What a FAIL!!!
I thought about what I may have done wrong and I did everything right, so this kit was a damn fail, bro.

Have you tried the Sally Hansen Insta Gel Strips Starter Kit??? Talk to me.....:)

Pin of the Week! Fashion Prep for Spring/Summer!!

Hey Everybody!!

I know you see that title of the post and are like, "Gerl....what?" Listen, I'm Southern born and raised and I know two things:

#1 I'm not made for this cold weather.
#2 Summer is coming sooner than you think down here. March is notorious for 70 degree weather. Do the math: I only have two months of winter left.

So....I'm already thinking and plotting on a spring and summer wardrobe. I'm a neutral obsessed so this visual pin of a neutral tones closet is setting the tone for me. I've always dreamed of wearing all white for a summer ala Lisa Raye. I'm so serious.

Is it too early to start a Spring/Summer Fashion Inspo Board?? Nah. LOL

Style Friday! 5 Tips on Caring For Your Costume Jewelry......

Friday, January 02, 2015

Hey Everyone!!

The majority of the jewelry I wear is costume jewelry. Some of it's really cheap ( like $1, cheap) and some of it is more pricey. However, I treat it all the same. I have costume jewelry earrings and necklaces that are well over 10 years old and in excellent shape because I give them the same care as my more expensive jewelry. I want all of it to last as long as I like to wear it!! Here my top 5 tips on caring for my costume jewelry....

1) Keep it in the plastic until you are ready to wear it.

Alot of $1 jewelry and beauty supply jewelry comes packaged in small plastic bags, so when I store it, I keep it the bag until I'm ready to wear it. That keeps it from tarnishing before I wear it. I also jewelry that comes on cards or hooks intact for the same reason.

2) Keep your jewelry in boxes.

My pricey costume pieces are in white jewelry boxes( you can find these at Michael's) to protect them from the air and elements of the house.I keep my bangles in decorative storage boxes( Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Dollar General). I love this method because it reminds me of my Great Aunt Maxine, who had TONS of gorgeous REAL pieces and kept all of it in white jewelry boxes in dresser. My Granny did the same thing.:)

3)Rest your wears.

When I get a good pair of light weight, perfect circle hoops, I want to wear them everyday of the week! I learned to rest my wears of some of favorite piece so that don't start tarnish or fall apart and they last longer.

4)Put on jewelry after all perfume has dried.

I can't tell you how many of my favorite necklaces have been ruined by perfume. I learned to put on the perfume first, let it dry down, then the jewelry. I also have a different way of spraying my scent to stay away from my jewelry. I only spray between my bosom, behind my ears, (the higher part of my ears) and the folds of my elbows( instead of my wrist).

5)Don't wash hands or dishes in rings or bracelets.

I take off all rings and bracelets before any washing of the hands, then I dry my hands completely and put the jewelry back on. If I have to use any hand lotions, I normally just put it on my palms only( I need it there the most) with my rings and bracelets on.

If you wear costume pieces....how do you conserve your favorite jewelry? Let me know in the comments!

A Fresh Coat Of Polish: Rimmel Salon Pro in Beige Babe.....

Hey Everyone!!

Happy New Year!!

I wore Rimmel Salon Pro polish in Beige Bare into the New Year as my New Year mani. I had this whole glittery, fun look all planned out but then I felt like something more subtle and neat.

Beige Babe is a dark taupe, with a hint of grey and it's almost dark brown. It has held up well since Tuesday too. Ya'll know I love this Salon Pro formula!
