~RGBL Best of 2012~ My Favorite Foundations and Face Products....

Monday, December 31, 2012

Hey Everyone!

In 2012, I had a lot of fun with learning to create a great and sometime flawless canvas on my face. I found some great staple products that worked for me.

I went through a couple of foundations and BB creams but the ones that created a flawless face and were a perfect color match were Laura Mercier Oil Free Supreme Foundation in Toffee Bronze, L'Oreal True Match Lumi in C6 Soft Sable, and mark. Got The Goods Foundation Lotion in Shade 10.
My favorite setting powders for my foundations, concealers and even eyebrows were from Ruby Kisses Set N' Forget in Banana and Earth. I also joined the bandwagon of Ben Nye Banana Powder customers and I LOVE this powder!!!
I know it looks like I'm late boots but MAC Fix+ was a star products for me. I actually went through two bottles of it. Worth every penny. I also found a great brightening concealer in Walmart in Hard Candy The Perfect Cover Up in Tan.

I learned to contour my cheeks CORRECTLY via You Tube this year. LOL! The technique does carve you face and gives you cheekbones you didn't have before. I used CoverGirl Queen Collection Bronzer in Ebony Bronze for the most part until I discovered Iman Blush in Sable.

~Haul~ Ulta, Rite-Aid, Walgreens, Big Lots ( New 2013 Drugstore Products)...

Sunday, December 30, 2012

Hey Everyone,

Yesterday, I went on drugstore troll in search of the new 2013 products that I've seen on FB, Twitter and Instagram. Since most of it isn't limited edition, I didn't haul out real big, I know that most of it will eventually show up in the regular displays. However, it was fun finding and spotting some the goodies!! I even scooped a couple of pieces.

I heard that there were SOHO brushes at Big Lots, so I went into the 1st Big Lots of the day and got lucky!!! I will check the 2nd Big Lots in a couple of days for powder brushes....
Since the Walgreens stores in Spartanburg are very spread out over the city, I went into one store and as soon as walked in the door, matter of fact, I could see from my parking space....Fergie by Wet N' Wild. AND it was UNTOUCHED. I literally peeling the tape off the coupons on the display to use them!! What a drugstore product junkie's dream!!! LOL!

After much scoping around the display, I only got three pieces:

Photo Op Eyeshadow in Desert Festival
Lipsticks in Bebot Love and Ferguson Crest Cabernet
I found the new Revlon nail colors in Rite Aid and picked up Nail Enamel in Girly....
To my surprise, my Ulta was lacking and slacking on new products. I found more new stuff in Walgreens. Nonetheless, I came across the much hyped L'Oreal Caresse Shine Lip Tint Balms or something like that. You can understand how I feel about them so far, if you follow me on Instagram.:) ( ruralglamour).
Best find for me besides the Fergie Collection were the L'Oreal True Match Crayon Concealers. I'm not much of a True Match fan but I heard the hype about these and it was a happy find. After debating over two colors( because they were 8.99 in Walgreens) I got Medium/Deep W6-7-8.

Here are some other goodies I found....These are all from Walgreens displays.

Rimmel's new BB cream wayyyyyy up high. LOL!
 The new L'Oreal display.
The Maybelline Vivids lipsticks. I passed on those for now.
Sally Hansen Salon Effects has french manicure strips. I'm digging that!!
Revlon's new BB Cream sans a deep/dark shade.:/

Have you seen any of these new drugstore goodies?

~RGBL Best of 2012~ My Favorite Nail Polish.....

Hey Everyone!!

Yep, you read that title right, Jamie is presenting her favorite polish of 2012. lol! Can you believe I could narrow it down? I chose colors that when I wore them, I didn't want to take it off. That's what I like to feel when I wear polish, complete love for the color.:)

 16 colors...Let's go!!!
Some of my favorite shades were from Revlon, even though I had a love/hate relationship with their glitter shades. They were on top of the game in drugstore polish, creative shades and great quality for under $5.

I kept my vow of not buying expensive brand polish. I was sent one polish and I won one that I loved. They are Laura Mercier Nail Lacquer in Crimson (CHECK OUT THE POST HERE!) and Essie Barefoot in Blue (CHECK OUT THE POST HERE).
This year, Ulta opened a store only 30 minutes away and I finally get the chance to get my hands on more Essence products and polish. Two of my favorite shades from Essence this year were Gorgeous Bling Bling and Alice Had A Vision-Again (CHECK OUT THE POST HERE!).
The sale bins at dollar stores and drugstores were my friend this year. Some of my favorite polishes were found deep in baskets and boxes.

N.Y.C polish in Blue Rush (CHECK OUT THE POST HERE!!)
Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Wild Life
Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Blue It

I love Sally Hansen. They are ahead of the game in polish. Seriously, I see prestige and expensive brands emulating what they are doing in the drugstores. The first brand I noticed other than China Glaze to come out with a Magnetic polish was Sally Hansen. They also make in my opinion, the best nail polish strips. Here are two of my favorites from them this year!

Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color in Ionic Indigo ( CHECK OUT THE POST HERE!)
Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Polish in  Choco-Latte

My favorite glitter polish this year literally sat in my collection for months until I dug it up for a Christmas/Holiday mani. This pink/silver combo is just gorgeous. I love Spoiled by Wet N' Wild Nail Color Jewelry Heist. CHECK OUT THE POST HERE! Its looks like a gorgeous pink diamond!

~RGBL Best of 2012~ My Favorite Eye Shadow Palettes....

Friday, December 28, 2012

Hey Everyone!

Here are my favorite eye shadow palettes of the year. I'm a palettes girl. I like all my colors in one place.:)

2012 was the year of random beauty supply store palettes. I got my favorite random palette from a jewelry boutique for $2.99. It has the BEST transition colors for the lid. The other two Santee Matte Eye Shadow palettes are from the BSS for $2.99. The pigmentation and wear are insane. I'm starting to wonder if these shadows are what some "big" companies are using and charging an arm and a leg for.

I finally got my hands on Urban Decay's Naked Palette in February and its worth every penny spent. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this Forever 21 palette CHECK OUT THE POST HERE!!. Again, a cheap palette with great color and wear.
Who remembers the craze over Philosophy makeup at Big Lots? CHECK OUT THE POST HERE!! I got super lucky and found these great palettes the first BL I went into. Their makeup is actually really great. Its must have been the price point or the marketing that didn't move them within Philosophy.
The best Eye Shadow crayons/pencil/creme shadows are tarte SmolderEyes Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liners. CHECK OUT THE POST HERE!! These babies are just as pigmented as a pressed eye shadow and last ALL DAY long by themselves. Tarte did this one!!!

I only got one of these e.l.f. Disney palettes but  Cruella Evil Everyday Eyes is the best in neutrals from all the e.l.f products I own. If I want a simple day look, I will grab this girl out of the collection. Bravo e.l.f! CHECK OUT THE POST HERE!!!

~25 Days of Beautiful Giving Ideas~ Day 22- DIY Lip Scrub for Empty Pockets...

Saturday, December 22, 2012

Hey Everyone!

Christmas shopping will make you or break your pockets in little pieces. The money struggle is real and three days before Christmas and the funds might be running low. Time for an easy DIY!!

I made these lip scrubs for myself and one for a friend who struggles with  dry lips in the winter and wanted to try it.

 You will need:

-Honey
-Oil ( I used Avocado because I wanted to use Olive but I was all out.:( )
-Sugar ( regular white or brown will work)
-a bowl
-a spoon
-small containers to put the scrub in
I "eyeballed" aka Rachael Ray the oil, honey and sugar to make a paste in a bowl, then I stirred it until it was pasty. If its runny, you can add more sugar to make a paste.
 Here is the scrub, stirred.....
Then I packed it into a container.
Put on the top and done!!
Here are the two I made....

You can put them in a pretty bag or wrap them. Get creative!!! If you try this, let me know how you like it!

The Lip is Revlon Matte in Pink Pout and Ulta Super Shiny Gloss in 04.

Fun!! Happy Holidays Friends!!
