~Review~ Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Glossy Lip Tint + Swatches +FOTDs!!!....

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

I was in Victoria's Secret about two weeks back and I picked up two of the Beauty Rush Glossy Lip Tints. I got Better Than Bare and Manic Pink.
I'm not a fan of the Beauty Rush line mainly because the quality is low and the prices are high. LOL! These two were 2 for $12 and I think one of them alone is $7.50- $8. I've been duped on Beauty Rush before, but I was able to swatch these two colors in the store with the tester. I knew what I was getting into!

Better Than Bare on the left and Manic Pink on the right.....
Sorry for the cloudy photo...my lens was dirty. guh.

I'm wearing  Manic Pink in this photo. It goes on semi sheer but it has alot of color. Manic Pink is very smooth in texture as well and had a faint cupcake-ish smell.

Better Than Bare was the same texture and smell. However, its not a nude you would it expect. Its actually really brown. Almost my true lip color. I like nudes that are a step or two above my natural lip shade. I would recommend this to a nude shy, darker skin chica. Still, its pretty.

My biggest problem with these is that the color name is not on the stick. Once you take all the plastic off, the name is gone in the trash. That's trouble for a beauty addict.:/

Overall...

I think this a great for casual pop of color on the face with you don't want a sticky gloss or a full on lipstick. Beauty Rush Lip Tints have a Revlon Lip Butter feel them but less buttery. LOL!  I saw a bright orange one that I'm going to go back and get.:)

~ My Favorite Nude Lipsticks + Swatches~

I was inspired today by my sorors Alrinthea and Dana to do a post on my favorite nude lippies ( Thanks ladies XOXO!!) Al posted this picture of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin on Facebook and a vibrant conversation on her lip color ensued!!

I actually own a color that is very similar to this lip color the Queen in wearing. Its Kate Moss for Rimmel in #14.
I go between 8-10 different nude lipsticks at a time....and to think four years ago I couldn't find my perfect nude.

They are:( left to right) NYX Tea, NYX Perfect Taupe, NK Natural , NK Camel, Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee, Kate Moss for Rimmel in #14, Wet N'Wild Barely Legal, MAC Fresh Brew.

Swatches......

( left to right)
 NYX Tea
 NYX Perfect Taupe
 NK Natural
 NK Camel
Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee
Kate Moss for Rimmel in #14
 Wet N'Wild Barely Legal
 MAC Fresh Brew

What I have found out about finding the perfect nude shade for me is a color or two lighter than my natural lip color with a flat ( no shimmer) base. Only one of these nudes is a shimmer and its Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee.

When I do wear a nude lip gloss, its Kiss New York Brush On Lip Gloss Lust.  I also top my nude lipsticks with a clear gloss, just right in the middle of the lip. I rarely wear a liner with the nude colors, I like the color blend with my skin color but when I do, my go to shade is NK lip liner in Brown which is a slightly ( and I mean slight, almost dupeable )darker shade of MAC Cork.

So what are some of your favorite nude shades...let me know!!

~Fresh Coat~ Wet N' Wild Speak When Spoken To....

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Finally. I spotted the Wet N' Wild Bejeweled Collection.

It is one of the collections on my never ending drugstore stalking list...right under #1....Revlon Gucci Westman Collection Escapism 2012. *deep sigh*.

Word on these polished addict streets is that the Bejeweled Collection is a dupe of China Glaze Prismatic Chroma Glitters...but half the price.:)

I did SWST in three coats. I should have done a base coat but I have  Born Into Privilege as well and when I post that one, it will be over a black base.
So much is going on in one bottle! Glitter! Duo chrome!! Micro Glitter!!! Yasssss~~~~

I took the blurry photo ( BELOW) to show the chromatic under color. I love this shade.:)

~Fresh Coat~ Revlon Runway Pearl....( a Chanel Pearl Drop dupe?)

I love when Revlon dupes an expensive polish. They have been the most successful at doing it in my opinion. You can get the designer color you couldn't afford or didn't want to pay for, in a drugstore, for $4.99. Boom!

Revlon Runway Pearl is supposedly a dupe for Chanel Pearl Drop.
Per many searches of nail bloggers rocking this color, I paired Runway Pearl with a white base in Kleancolor White. I love the  look white polish and Runway Pearl on top gave it a subtle iridescence. Its more pearly than iridescent.

~Physician's Formula Shimmer Stripes in Smoky + Two Days of FOTDs~

I'm very overwhelmed in eye shadow right now. lol!

I have new palettes, loose shadows, quads just waiting to be used. I'm still learning and growing with my eyeshadow application. Some days are better than others. LOL!

I recently bought Physician's Formula Smoky Eye Palette with some CVS ECBs and smile.:)

Smoky came out the Nude Shimmer Strips palette that I have and did a couple looks with (SEE HERE). I also own "Casual" that also came in this collection of shadows.

I'm a big fan PF, I wish that would make more of their face products brown girl friendly, like the foundations, powders and bronzers. Overall, the Shimmer Strips are great, medium color pigmentation and lots of shimmer.
For the last two days...I used the top three colors and the bottom three. PF defines these shades as Trio #1 Natural and Trio #3 Dramatic. Let's see if that's true...hmmmmm.......

DAY ONE-Trio #1- Casual...top three colors..used Tarte Hotel Heiress bronzer in the crease for transition ( thanks LipSh0ck on YT!!).
The colors were really light and hard to build...guess that's why they are"Casual" hahaha.... But I like the look. The first light shimmery one is a GLITTER BOMB. Watch out!!
DAY TWO- Trio #3- Dramatic. Loved these three shades. Easy to blend but the silver shade didn't give me the pigmentation in the palette.

Overall...cool palette, not mind blowing but like the Nude palette great for traveling or a go-to smoky eye kit without searching around your collection for the colors.

Let me know what you think!

New!! ~Black Radiance Eye Appeal Shadow Collection, Bronzers and Eye Shadow Quads...~

Monday, April 23, 2012

Hey Everybody!

I was excited to finally see my WalMart update the Black Radiance section with the new product I had been seeing online. I got a couple of things, then took back some stuff and now this is my final haul. Check it out!

I got two of the bronzers: Blackberry and Rum Spice. ( below)

Blackberry is a deep lavender purple with gold in it. I have no idea how to use it. lol!

Rum Spice is a pretty soft golden brown.

I was surprised that texture of both of them is very soft. Black Radiance and Markwins must have redone the formula because the bronzers didn't feel like that before.
I got two eye shadow sets. Desert Clay Quad and Eye Appeal in Urban Jungle. My WM had all the Eye Appeal 8 pans but the other two looked dupeable. Only Urban Jungle gave me any kind of "freshness" and plus I don't own alot of green shadow.
Black Radiance Eye Shadow Quad in  Desert Clay...couple of shimmery neutrals....

Here are the swatches of Desert Clay. Initially, I didn't swatch Urban Jungle because swatches of it are all over the 'net. Now, I wish I had swatched it, just for you guys!! I will update the swatches Urban Jungle within the next day...so hold tight!:)

So what do you think? Do you plan on grabbing any of the new Black Radiance products??

~Review~ Four Days of Revlon Lip Butter!!!.....

Friday, April 20, 2012

I know, I know...there a zillion reviews on these Revlon Lip Butters. However, I still needed to express my take on them. Why? Well...

1) Its taken me 4 months to get the colors I like because I'm indecisive.

2) The colors I wanted...sold out all the time.

3) The colors I wanted...never on sale...and I wanted to get them at CVS because I wanted my ECBs and Beauty Bucks

4) I could name other reasons but all these are starting to sound like excuses! lol!

Since November 2011, I've collected six colors: ( from the left) Creme Brulee,Gumdrop, Tutti Frutti, Cherry Tart, Sweet Tart, Raspberry Pie ( not shown).
So, for four days I wore four of the colors...You can check out me wearing Raspberry Pie in a previous post HERE.:)

I skipped Gumdrop...because I don't like it. The color is horrible on me. I can wear lavender shades of lippies but not the  SHEER shades of lavender. My lips looked dead with Gumdrop on.:/
Day One- Sweet Tart. Gorgeous bright sheer pink because just right amount of color. Sweet Tart is my favorite shade on all the ones I own!
Day Two- Tutti Frutti....sheer wash of orange...a bit coral-ly. Love this one too!
Day Three-Creme Brulee ( worn with a NK Brown lipliner). I was just floored at this perfect nude color.
Day Four-Cherry Tart. I thought Cherry Tart would be more of a true red but it has a bit of pink in it. Great for a red lipstick shy kinda girl.

Overall:

The hype is all its cracked up to be!!! These Lip Butters are one the best drugstore products on the market. Revlon NAILED it with this one. The texture is creamy, smooth and not greasy like you would think a butter or balm would be.The color payoff is just amazing. I would have never though they would be as pigmented at they are. I plan on picking up two more colors then I'm through!

~Rural Glamour~ Laura Mercier Belle Nouveau Collection + Swatches.....

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Hey Everyone!!!

I'm excited to share pictures and swatches of Laura Mercier LE Belle Nouveau Collection. Check out how Ms. Mercier created the collection:

Inspired by Laura’s background as a painter and her love for the Art Nouveau era’s innovative spirit, this line invites you to escape to a dream world of unbelievably beautiful color.  The collection focuses on soft but daring colors that are playful, yet romantic.

The sophisticated, luxurious texture provides smooth colour and applies evenly onto lips.

Sheer Crème Colour: Copper Glow Veil- Limited Edition (1)
Laura Mercier’s new Copper Glow Veil Sheer Crème Colour provides a soft veil of colour for a “bonne mine” (healthy glow) effect. The ultra-sheer, blendable formula provides a healthy glow to skin for 8 hours.

Body Bronzing Makeup- Limited Edition (1)
Laura Mercier introduces the perfect product to help you achieve a golden glow without actually having to be out in the sun. Laura Mercier Body Bronzing Makeup instantly provides the look of, radiant, bronzed skin without a long-term commitment or harmful UV exposure.

Caviar Eye Stick Colour: Turquoise- Limited Edition (1) The new, limited edition Turquoise Caviar Eye Stick Colour provides endless options for a flawless smoky eye with rich colour payoff.

Long Lash Mascara: Bleu- Limited Edition (1)
This is Laura Mercier’s very first venture into the coloured mascara category, and it is exciting, fun, and perfect for summer.  Laura Mercier Long Lash Mascara extends and precisely separates the thinnest, shortest, hard-to-reach lashes by expertly scooping up and lengthening each lash while delivering the right amount of product.

I got the chance to try the nail lacquer in Lavender Cloud and the Lip Glace in Lotus Blossom.....
The lip glace in  Lotus Blossom is a pinky-lavender shade. I'm wearing two coats on my lips, because one coat is really sheer. It would be a great lip gloss on top of a lipstick. Lotus Blossom also has great longevity.
Lotus Blossom without lipstick or liner.....
In this picture, I'm wearing two coats of Lavender Cloud polish. Two coats was opaque but one coat was sheer. I expected something great out of this polish, because its Laura Mercier, but it really seems like any other light lavender shade of polish out there. A dupeable shade would be Essie Lilacism.

I received a free product (or products) for review purposes. I did not receive any form of compensation from the company. All opinions are my own and not influenced in anyway. My reviews are my personal and honest opinions

~Rural Style~ How to Prep For Spring's Busy Event Season!!!!

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Thanks to Walgreens for underwriting this post. I was paid as a member of the Clever Girls Collective, but the content is all mine. Visit http://www.discoverbeautywithin.com/.

Spring is more than just allergies and thunderstorms. It is also the season of special events: proms, weddings, cotillions, etc. As much as money we will spend on a hot dress and some great shoes, everything else such as makeup and beauty should be budget friendly as possible! Here are my tips on budget beauty for event season:

1) Visit your local Walgreens to pick up a great smoky eye quad or a fresh red lipstick from for that special night right in the beauty section. So many brands have smoky eye kits and different shades of red so finding the perfect color is so easy. I love the selection that Wet N’ Wild and Milani has for special event makeup.

2) Prep your body by buying a shaver and luminous body lotion so that you will slip so easily in that beautiful gown on your special day. I recently fell back in love with Vaseline Intensive Lotion. It feels amazing on my skin once again!

3) Don’t forget your “clutch kit” : lip balm, hand sanitizer, travel lotion, and tissues. Put mini sizes of all these products in your evening handbag or clutch. Most these items are available in the travel product section of the store.

4) Are you doing your own manicure or pedicure? Everything you need from bouncy brights to nice neutrals in nail polish are available at Walgreens. I just picked up a sweet coral shade by Essie last week! You can also pick up nail files, clippers and pumice stones  for complete nail and foot care.

5) If you are natural hair girl like me, Walgreens has extended their brands for our hair from Shea Moisture to Curls Unlimited and several others with great deals each week. I’m dying to try some of the new brands I’ve seen recently.

6) For those sky high heels, Dr. Scholls inserts and bottom of the shoe grips to make sure you can stay in those shoes all night!

I hope that my tips will help you be gorgeous for whatever event you are attending this spring. Have fun!!
