Weekend Beauty: New Wet N' Wild Color Icon Trios, CVS Beauty Club and How I Made $7 on Physician's Formula Mascara!!

Monday, January 31, 2011

After seaching around for the new Wet N'Wild Trios on Saturday and coming up zero, I fell into my local CVS and found them!! I couldn't believe it!. I swear I spend the majority of my beauty obesessed life "hunting" products down.:(

I only got five of the six. I'm missing "Spoiled Brat" but I'm okay not having it.

Next up: The Wet N' Wild 8-pans....
 I Got Good Jeans
 Silent Treatment
 I'm Feeling Retro
 I'm Getting Sunburned
 I Dream of Greenie

The names of the palettes remind me of OPI polish names. Corny but cute:).
I also had a $10 off any Physicians Formula Foundation, Powder or Blush. It printed out the red slot box a week ago. I didnt read the "Foundation, Powder, or Blush" part til' I got to the register.:( But, the cashier took it off any way....hope she doesn't get in trouble.:/
Here's the grand total....see that $1...it was some random coupon still attach to the $10 off coupon that the cashier scanned too. I didn't open my mouth. *looks around*
AND I got $7 in EBs for  buying $10 in Physician's Formula...I didn't even know about that!
Check this out: the whole purchase is about $27 in makeup, right....Why did my receipt only show $3.49 toward my Beauty Club Rewards? Well, cousins, I called Customer Service at CVS and they explained that it takes 48 hours for my BCR to update. Also, when you do get to $50, it takes 48 hours for the $5 EBs to print.

I'm a CVS heaux....I lurv that place so much.:)

Jamie's Weight Loss Diaries.... #2...Weekend Eating...

This weight loss thing here is absolutely, positively all about lifestyle change. For me, PERSONALLY, food is ruled my every emotion and never ever realized it. I was oblivious to how I ate emotionally all the time til I entered my first full week of the "change" and Friday, Saturday and Sunday rolled around.

The Weekend, as working people would call it.

The weekend is when my eating and emotions get completely out of control.  Again, oblivious to what was going on til I saw pictures of myself. Any given weekend in the last three, four years...three things happen:

1) The kids' go to their dad's house. Instead of enjoying the time "off", I dont take "off" .I'm a complete ball of loneliness or anxiety.

2) The kids' are here. lol! And something going on, someone's sick, someone's on restriction, I'm broke, I'm tired....

3) And within the last year either 1) or 2) includes my stressful parental unit, that we were forced to live with AGAIN.

I would cook wings, nachos, mac & cheese and if I had money, I would eat out every meal til' Sunday showed its face. I was feeding my loneliness, sadness and stress...

Welp, the first weekend after change...I slipped a fell, right into Zaxby's twice and Publix for raspberry layer slices to eat while watching funny movies to keep my spirits up. Sunday rolled around and I looked at my food journal and got mad at myself for eating like that....and a lightbulb came on just why I did.

I still have those same weekends....my life hasn't changed but this past weekend was the first weekend I didnt mess up my food choices. I had one splurge, Pad Thai at Moonsoon but everything else was right on schedule. My food journal held me accountable. By writing down everything I ate and having to write it down, I didnt want write or read,  "2 cake slices from Publix:( "

Plus, a trip to the Goodwill also helped. Yep.  The Goodwill.  You can find nice stuff for plus size girls in there for sure, but the really cute stuff, the vintage dresses that I love, the Gap Cargos I wanted, were all in smaller sizes. When I mean smaller, like 10, 12, 14,...lol! I long to shop in the smaller sections, the Medium and Large.

Weekend Eating or some called it binging on the weekends? Anyone else have a problem? Tell me in the comments:)

Fresh Coat: Color Club Sexy Siren.....

Friday, January 28, 2011

There's a story behind Color Club Sexy Siren...But before I tell you, let say that this is three coats. The glitter is a blue clear polish. I like it.:) I did blue for a reason this Friday....*giggles* Anyway....
I bought this entire Color Club set at Ross for $7.99. This is my third set I've found there. Color Club polish is really awesome, good quality, so I'm always excited to bump into these.

I thought it was the Wild At Heart Collection like it says. One thing about the polish that comes in a set sold at Ross, none of the polish bottles inside have numbers or names on them. However the backside of the box display does...
So, I'm searching, counting to see which one is the blue glitter and I'm thinking the name is "Wild At Heart". I look down the list and see "Plus Includes "0-60 Speedy Topcoat"...There is no Topcoat in this collection! I hit the Color Club website and troll the pictures and guess what???/

Its NOT the Wild At Heart Collection....its the Inner-Vixen Sparkle Collection! I chalk it up to $7.99 polish set you find at Ross of all places...

I found a picture of all the polishes with the names and took at my trusty label maker and labeled them all with the right name. Beauty mysteries small and BIG are solve everyday!

Case Closed!! lol!

Jamie's Weight Loss Diaries.... #1

Thursday, January 27, 2011

On December 30, 2010, I started  my lifestyle change/ weight loss challenge.

The goal: -40lbs by December 30, 2011 then -40 lbs by December 11, 2012, 80 lbs in all.

I wasn't going to blog about it here, instead just post updates on twitter. Why? I didn't want to held accountable to my readers/family if I slipped up or become a "weight loss blogger /expert" because I'm not. But, God has a way of making you do things you dont want to. Today, I was going to load a You Tube video but I lost the SD card that the video was on. That was my planned post today, so when I lost it, I didnt have anything to post.  I decided to weight in and I have lost more 2lbs. I get it God.....reveal the weight loss journey that you are on that I have bless you to be so far successful at!

So instead of boring you with long paragraphs...I will give you some quick facts about me,  my fat,  my weight loss and where I want to be!:

-This the 3rd time in my life, I've been focused on weight loss.

-I'm doing it on a budget. I can't afford trainers, weight loss programs, new expensive equipment, gym memberships...none of that. Just some good ol' research is what's going to get me through. My goal is to prove I didnt have to go even broker than I am to lose weight.

-On December 30, 2010, I weighed 239 lbs.

-My goal is 80lbs in two years, that will put me at the weight I was after I had my children.

-I weigh in on Thursdays. So stand by for the weight lost post on that day

- I bought my first scale ever own December 31, 2010.

-I'm a emotional eater. My life as whole in the last six years is how I got here.

-I'm inspired my Natural hair journey ( now 1 yr and two months).. if I can do this with my hair and can lose the weight too!

 Weigh Loss Diaries Timeline:

12/30/10- 239 lbs
1/6/11-234 lbs
1/13/11-231 lbs
1/20/11-230 lbs
1/27/11-228 lbs

Down 11 lbs in  less than 30 days...and can't turn back now!!! No ma'am!!! LOL!!

I will try to explain what I'm doing that's helping. Its not complex. I just sat down and wrote all the things that I know are trouble foods for me....and I avoid them. lol!

I also keep a Food Journal. I write down everything last thing I eat.

I plan my meals for the day. I cook almost everything I eat, due to the fact I can't afford to eat out. *shrugs*

Working out...I hate working out. So I do the absolutely minimum....I'll share that later.

So now I will post some before kids and now pictures. I dont blame my kids on my weight gain. Matter fact, I didnt gain a pound pregnant. I lost 25lbs pregnant with the twins. I was sick and high risk. The weight came after them and it came fast.

1999. My Senior Year in College...I dont know how much I weighed due to the years I avoided owning a scale. But, I do remember those jeans, I still own them and they are a size 14. I also could wear a belt back then. I size fluctuated between a 10-14 in those four years. I didnt diet in college.
1999. My sorority's Scholarship ball. This was a Jessica McClintock dress in size 10. I donated it years ago but remember the size and buying it with my mom.
2000. My university's homecoming and I was probably a size 12. That top was a Express Top and it was a Large. I haven't worn Express in 6 years.
Me now. This is me Thanksgiving with the family. My cousin took these pictures....and of course put them on Facebook. LOL! But that's ok....it was revealing to say the least. I saw what I fully looked like in pictures. I really didnt realize how big I was....
Thanksgiving again...I'm only 5'0. I look like the biggest person in the picture. ( those other folks are Li'l Derek, Amari, and my Aunt Pat:))
Christmas 2011 with my cousins....That picture was it for me...I needed to get the weight off.

Stay tuned for the Thursday's weight in post and anything else I can think of.:)

Review: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush....

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

 Hi Everyone!!

Today I'm going to introducing Tarte's newest product, Amazonian Clay 12-Hr Blush. Here's a brief description of the blushes according to the Sephora Website ( they are a Sephora exclusive)

Infused with natural clay harvested from the banks of the Amazon River and naturally baked by the sun, this nutrient-rich blush benefits all skin types for a fade-free flawless finish for an amazing 12 hours. Inspired by Tarte's best-selling shades of cheek stains and lip tints, the colors range from soft to vivid to suit a wide variety of skintones.

I received Flush, Amused, Tipsy and Exposed to share with you all...Here we go....

Flush- A raspberry bright pink matte shade perfect for darker skin tones. I found the color of Flush to be of a medium pigment, so its not super sheer but "just right" in application. I honestly, love this blush. I own the Cheek Stain with the same name. I might need to play with them, see how they layer:).
Amused- a light punchy pink matte blush that all the rage in lipstick and glosses today in a blush. Absolutely gorgeous, not chalky, sweet pretty pink...had me dreaming of spring!
Exposed- Very light bronze with a satiny application. I was disappointed in Exposed. I thought it would be more bronzy, but instead it barely showed up on me. Even  as a highlighter, I would skip it.:(
Tipsy- a peachy high pigmented matte with a hint of satin. Extra goregeious!!! Restored the blush heaux in me!! This a must buy for blushes!

Here's my idea of swatches.:( Does no justice on how they apply or look with them on. I just posted the picture to show you...I tried! lol!

Overall: Grab  Tipsy, Amused, and Exposed right now! Also, the 12-hr claim, on my oily skin, they stay on all day...at least 8 hrs, til I washed it off. They are priced at $25 a piece but that's $1 less than NARS blush.:) lol!

I received a free product (or products) for review purposes. I did not receive any form of compensation from the company. All opinions are my own and not influenced in anyway. My reviews are my personal and honest opinions

Review: Cover Girl Queen Collection Lip Color.....

Thursday, January 20, 2011

I finally got the chance to try the new Queen Collection Lip Color and I'm excited! I've been a fan since the very first collection of QC products that came out around 2006, 2007. I remember when their foundation collection fitted an array of women of color shades to be rivaled with. Since then, they have revamped a couple of times and now they have introducted a new lipstick line that I heard great things about. So, let's get started!

I was blessed to recieve four shades: Nude Attitude, Ruby Slipper, Fine Wine, and Powderpuff Pink....
I adore the packaging! Sleek, smooth, quality....
Swatches( gasp!)- Fine Wine, Nude Attitude, Powderpuff Pink, and Ruby Slipper.....
Nude Attitude is a golden nude shimmer. It's more pigmented than I thought it would be. Most colors in this range are sheer on my naturally dark lips. I like this one ALOT. Perfect basic day shade.
Ruby Slipper is a brownish light brick red shimmer. This will definitely be on of my "go to" red shades.
Its so pigmented its stains the lips. Really stains. But the color on is gorgeous.

Powderpuff Pink is flat bright pink. I will compare this to VS Sexy Lip Stick in Beg Me which is discontinued. Its a bright pink that women my shade and darker could wear without having to manipulate the hell of  out it with lip liners and glosses.

Fine Wine is also a flat ( meaning no shimmer) dark berry color. If this was matte, it would be a winner for me. I own dozens of colors like this so it didnt really excite me.

All the CG Queen Collection Lip Colors I recieved are of a satin texture, meaning its not matte but has a bit of sheen, but not glossy.  I'm glad they are not glossy. lol! The only negative is that the darker shades and even the pink I have are stain quite a bit and are tough to get off with just plain cleanser. I would suggest cold cream if you purchase a darker shade.

My Wal- Mart just received these and they were in horrible order. It was almost like someone just threw them in the display!!! Talking about an infuriated beauty addict!!

Have you tried these? If so, let me know the color(s) you purchased and how you like them!!
