RG Project: Santee' 3Dimensional Makeup Kit...Part II

Thursday, April 30, 2009

Hey!!

Here's Quad #2 of the Santee' goodies I got Monday. I love all the pinks in this one....
Love!!

But they kinda blend into the same color.*shrug*. I love pink eyeshadow, but I have to be careful of the ashy, frosty pinks. These are BORDERLINE. *side eye!*...

Fall-out! lol. But, seriously, $1.50 a piece, fam. Not bad.

RG Project:Santee' 3Dimensional Make-Up Kit...

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

On Monday, I was flipping around Spartanburg between interview and stumbled into Santee' Cosmetics in one of my favorite stores...$1.25 jewelry store, This N' That....

I got this one and another one I'll review, for $1.50 a piece and two lipgloss( review soon) for $1.25 a piece. It was a very, very good cheap makeup fix that ya girl needed after a long day job hunting...:)

I got this one...which has no name...mainly for the green in it. The texture is very soft and pigment is amazing but....
The fall- out is crazy!! You need a stiff brush and you have to pack it on to not have a mess. But the color is not a game!!! What you see is what you get!

Here I worked the green, the charcoal black and the white to create the eye...

Because the color is intense, it needs demanding blending. I like them so far. Some makeup addicts would put there noses in the air on this $1.50 treasure, but I am on a mission to collect more of them. They even have a line nail art colors.:) More Santee' to come!!

Review:Softsoap Body Butter Coconut Scrub Body Wash...

Review Time!!!
I got Softsoap Body Butter Coconut Scrub Body Wash a couple weeks back when CVS was running a "buy @ 4.99 get 4.99 in Extra Bucks back". Sounds 'Free' right? ha!! I love taking showers more in the summer than the winter and I also love fully stocked shower gel collection in my shower in the summer.
Positive: I love the smell. It's sorta perfume-y than coconut-y which I thought it might be. The texture of the wash after it was sudsy was creamy and not foamy. It really softened my skin. It washed off good, leaving no material behind on the skin. You could used this every day and not feel irriatated unless you have sensitive skin.
Negative:It's full of these little particles, which I assume is their version of the 'Scrub' in the wash. It feels like crushed walnuts all over you....grainy, but does the job of softening the skin. The bottle is huge and cumbersome in the shower. I was afraid I was going drop it on my foot! lol! Maybe something sleeker and with a pump would work better.
Consensus:I'll use this up but will not buy it again.Sorry Softsoap:(

N.O.T.D. N.Y.C. In A New York Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish in Park Avenue...

Hi Cuzins!!!

I'm back and focused!!! I had long and very nice weekend. Then, I slept wrong on Saturday and woke up with the worst 'crick' in my neck and upper back. I've been battling this pain for three days!!! But, I feel a bit better:)

I picked up N.Y.C's In a New York Minute Quick Dry Nail Color in Park Avenue ( all the colors are named by places in NYC)with a coupon for a Free N.Y.C product under 2.87 coupon found in All For You Magazine( that's only sold@ Wal-Mart).

It does exactly what it says, dries quickly. I like the shade I choose, even though after three coats I could see my nail underneath. Plus, a top coat is essential for this nail polish formula. It was chipping when I woke up the next morning.

Must Have: Victoria's Secret Cashmere Vanilla Jasmine Eau de Parfum....

Friday, April 24, 2009

I,Jamie, trust Victoria's Secret when it comes to fragrances.I just do. I haven't had a "fail"...only once, VS Angels Heavenly Bloom( I tried so hard for it smell good on me :(...). Their new four scent collection inspired by lingerie has me wanting, needing the Cashmere Vanilla Jasmine, which is phenomenal. Gah!!! Check out the notes in the description:
"A luxurious cloak of cashmere envelops every curve. Sensual vanilla bean orchid from the French Island of Bourbon marries Mediterranean 'living" purple orchid. Jasmine absolute cultivated in India. The lasting warmth of cedarwood and heliotrope. Imported and domestic."
You definitely get the jasmine and vanilla first but the dry down is the warmth cedarwood...*swoon!*
But, uhmmm, it $45.
But.... they do have it in a mist which is $28.
AND a set with all four scents for $42.( I didn't care for the others...)
Sigh...maybe Mother's Day?

Review: BB Couture For Nails

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Hi!!!

I had great pleasure in trying BB Couture For Nails Nail Polish. I got Santa Monica Sands, Butt Naked Bronze and Midnight Malibu which are part of the Summer Collection. All the colors @ BB Couture For Nails are a 4 in 1 formula, that means you get your base coat, top coat, nail strengthener and color all in one bottle. Is that a deal and time saver or what!!

They are also tolene, formaldehyde and DBP free...:) Great for 'greening' your beauty routine.

First up.... Midnight Malibu. It looks like midnight sky, for real!! Bits of blues, purples on a dark navy base are gorgeous. You just need two coats on this to get the look.

Butt Naked Bronze. I thought it would look better on me, but its a bit too orange of a bronze for my coloring. I did two coats of this but it was still sheer for my taste after two coats.

Santa Monica Sands. LOVE LOVE LOVE this color! Perfect nude for year around. Two coats on this too and it was perfect on me. Didn't want to take it off..it was chipping but from up close , you would've never saw it.

Please visit http://www.bbnailpolish.com/ and http://www.healthynails.wordpress.com/ for more info on BB Couture For Nails.

Review: Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse in Caramel Dark 2

Friday, April 17, 2009

I mentioned in my Maybelline Lash Stiletto post that I purchased Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse for 6.49( 9.49 with a $3 off coupon) and I would do a review on it because...
This is why women get really mad at drugstore foundation.
Seriously, I don't know where to start. This is your new foundation Maybelline? I know you all have been focusing big time on the mascaras but, seriously, this what you came up with?
I had to return it....It didn't work...Here's why....
I use Maybelline Mineral Power Foundation in Caramel Dark 2, love it...one of the best mineral foundations in drugstores, real talk.
I use Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse in Caramel Dark 2 occasionally in the Winter for a full coverage look and love it.
So when purchasing Dream Liquid Mousse, I automatically picked up Caramel Dark 2.
It didn't match...ok...so, went back to do a exchange but the next color up, Cocoa Dark 3, was too dark...way darker. I mean, brown girls come in more that TWO shades, Maybelline. TWO SHADES... and reference the website on that too...TWO SHADES for brown girls, people. There are five 'light' shades and four 'medium' shades( which some women of color will be able to wear)...have we regressed in the makeup world?
This why women run to makeup counters, Sephora, Ulta, etc. instead of saving a couple of dollars at the drugstore is because there is not a variety of colors in foundations if you are brown skin.
But on the positive side, its a full coverage foundation, if that's what you looking for you are going to get it. It doesn't lie there. I guess that's the 'airbrush' look claim in the advertisement. It felt great going on, I was excited to have it but...It felt like it 1985 again and I watching my mom mix foundations to get her color...
The calender says 2009.
Anyone else have this? Let me know!

Review: Maybelline Lash Stiletto...

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

How did a mascara ruin my day? Let me tell you....

I've been wanting to try Maybelline Lash Stiletto for the LONGEST. I actually bought it around Christmas time but put it in my mother's Christmas stocking as a mini gift. I kept asking her how she liked it and she never got back to me. Hmmm...that's should have told me something right there.

Then I messed around looking for the best deal on it...It ranges between 8.00-9.00 from CVS to Wal-Mart to Target. Finally, CVS, this week, has a Maybelline BOGO Free Sale...I had a $3 coupon off the new Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation( review to come!), so I copped foundation and the Lash Stiletto all for under $7.00. Sweet!

This morning, after a yummy breakfast, coffee, no bills in the mail, a Martha Stewart show about weddings, I slipped on my favorite jeans, a cute top and flats and went in the bathroom to apply a bit of makeup and then jet out the house...

Then my day was ruined...by Lash Stiletto.

It sucks...big time....

What was everyone talking about? "It's hot...It's the best ...It's number one in mascaras..."

Negatives:

-the brush is so large and kinda "prickly", it was hard to maneuver on my lashes.
-it smudges. I had to break out the makeup remover and Q-tips to clean up the mess
-it's just length...that's all...at least that's the truth. No volume, no separation, just length.
-and in the last hour...I found out it flakes.

Positives:
-cute packaging
-formula is great. you don't get hard lashes and they are still pliable after drying.

I'm still messed up over this...but I'm a girl of second chances... Who bought Lash Stiletto and what did you think of it?

Review: Pretty by Elizabeth Arden....

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

Hi All!!! Your Girl, Jamie is back and refreshed.... Mondays are just not my day and my Easter weekend was crazy busy with family and activities...Hope you all had a great weekend too!
I was able to get a real feel of Elizabeth Arden's new fragrance Pretty via a bowl of spray sample. It was about seven or eight samples in the bowl...I took 5 or 6.:)
When I test a fragrance, I usually want to wear it all day to see if blends with my body chemistry. At first ,I thought Pretty was going too girly...it had a faint resemblance to Clinique Happy which is the debil in my beauty book!!! After wearing it...Pretty bloomed literally into a 'pretty' floral burst of happiness. The notes of jasmine and peony really turned my head when it comes to florals. It even has slight bottom note of musk that I liked.
Hmm...I could stand a full bottle of this:)

Great Buy!: Korres Best of Korres Kit...

Tuesday, April 07, 2009

I picked up the Korres Best of Korres Kit from TJ Maxx last week after watching the Home Spa Goddess podcast. She said she got it for 4.99. I was like,"Word?!!"

I got mine for 4.99...too.:)

It's still running for 25.00 and less online and Sephora even has a new Best Of Kit...

I've had couple Korres products in the past, courtesy of TJMaxx and Marshalls.
In the kit...I loving that Guava Body Butter and the Basil Lemon Shower Gel. I saw the Basil Lemon Shower Gel in Marshall's in a full size for 4.99. But,I going to hunt that Guava Butter down in one of the two stores!

N.O.T.D. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Pronto Purple...

Hey Cousins!!!

Check this mani I rocked for church on Sunday...Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Pronto Purple. I forgot I had bought this til' I unearthed it digging thru the nail polish "crates".
Sorry if the pics are blurry.:( I had it on the wrong focus on the camera.
You know, it something about those Insta-Dri polishes that make them...so inconsistent. This one, Pronto Purple, for example went on smooth, two coats and still on chip-free since Saturday and four or five loads of dishes I washed. But, I had all these problems with the yellow polish( forgot the name already...).
If they would only answer their email over there @ SH....

Buy of The Century: Kiehls Creme du Corps...

Friday, April 03, 2009

True Story:

I went to Goodwill to look for a blender. My beautiful, wonderful Krups blender died on me. It's cracked at the bottom, so it leaks then it won't fit in the electric base. So instead of going to Wal-Mart and getting a $15 blender( that was cheapest I saw there) I go all the way to the 'Burg to Goodwill hoping to score a blender for like $3. My mother scored ONE of her blenders in a Salvation Army and that thing works like a charm.

So, I'm browsing the home section along with alot of others folks...It was packed. And see this bottle of Kiehls Creme de Crops Lotion. I thought "It's prob-ly $15...( which is high at the Goodwill"

$1.50...people.

$1.50 for a bottle that is filled to the brim. So naturally, I screwed it open to test it. I've own Creme de Corps before...but only in a little trial size...so I know the texture and how it doesn't smell. It's the real deal, folks!!!

This is only the second thing I've own Kiehls in a full size( I have Kiehls Musk, got it at TJ Maxx for $25)

So what's your buy of the century...can you beat ya girl? lol!!

N.O.T.D: NK Cotton Candy...

Thursday, April 02, 2009

Soooo.... ya girl fell in love with the new Sephora by O.P.I. neon colors in BOTH of the Sephora catalogs they sent me last month. But I can't come off that $9 a bottle right now. Seriously my level of recessionista is so high these days....

*Yesterday, I was trying to get to the last of my Pantene Oil Moisturiser and ended up cutting that bottle in HALF and getting to the rest of the product then I put what product was left in a ziploc bag*.

Beat that..."RECESSIONISTAS"lol!!!

So I went the hometown BSS and copped these NK neon colors...for a $1 a piece.

This is two coats of NK Cotton Candy. Its got a bit of gold shimmer in it...but you can barely set it. I saw some narrow, petite footed chick today with a similar color on her toes....
