Every since I got the chance to use Nuance by Salma Hayek Brow Kit and listed it in my November Favorites, I've been craving more from this line! I haven't seen in NANN CVS in these parts!!!

This look today is inspired by Mickey Williams, celebrity makeup artist, in honor Puss In Boots movie starring Salma Hayek making #1 at the box office:

In honor of “Puss in Boots” reaching #1 at the box office this week, celebrity makeup artist Mickey Williams (also an expert member of the CVS/pharmacy Beauty Board, Facebook.com/CVSBeautyClub) has put together a purrrfect cat-eye look using Salma Hayek’s new beauty line, Nuance Salma Hayek, available exclusively at CVS/pharmacy stores and online at www.cvs.com.

I received:

Mineral Eyeshadow Duo in Moonstone/Shimmering Sand
Color Vibrance Lipstick in Shimmering Nude
Lasting Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black
Full Effect Ultra Volumizing Mascara in Black
Absolutely LOVE every.single.product.O.M.G. LOL!!!!!!
And family, cuzins, lurkers....I just got all these products TODAY...and ya'll know I don't do reviews that quick, honey. However I couldn't resist raving over these products!!! I couldn't hold it in!

-The lipstick is smooth and creamy....I used MAC Cork as a liner.
-The mascara so far is flake free, has a easy to use brush and the formula went on like butter on my lashes...and I'm not a volumizing mascara fan but this mascara gave me instant life!
-The liner....the liner is coal black, sickeningly creamy...its a gel liner in a pencil...I must be behind because I've never used a gel liner pencil...I need all colors in this liner.
-The mineral eyeshadow is medium pigmented, a bit of fall out but really matched my skin tone for a great nude/neutral shimmering eye...I can dig it!

What do you think??? Do you have any goodies Nuance?

~Review~ Nad's Facial Wand Eyebrow Shaper....

I'm sensitive about my brows...So I always do my own maintenance. I used to be a religious waxer, going to get my brows done at the first sight of unruliness. As I got older and my pockets get tighter, I noticed that certain parts of my brows were not growing in and I was spending wayyy too much when I knew I could probably do it myself! I think I can do all beauty maintenance myself anyway! lol!

Before I tried Nad's Facial Wand Eyebrow Shaper, I tweezed my brows. I normally clean them up  under the arch and trim the top of the brow neatly to preserve them. I want to have brows at age 40, so over tweezing is not an option.

Nad's Facial Wand Eyebrow Shaper is a "100% mistake free" at home waxing kit. It comes with the wand  ,10 Backing Strips( their version of the muslin strips used by waxers) and cleansing wipes.

You can also use this on your upper lip, chin, and cheeks....I definitely need to hit my upper lip.:)

The wand is about as big as my hand. The applicator is one of those twist at the end types. I cleaned after I used it so it wouldn't be a mess the next time I used it.
Here's one of the backing sheets. Even though you get about 20 of them, they are washable with water only. I washed mine, let them dry on the sink and they were good to go the next go around.
This is the first go around...my before picture....
This  is the after picture. I did a good job.:)
I used the Brow Shaper again three weeks later and got great results!

Pros:
-freaking money saver!!!
-level use: moderate...I wouldn't say its easy to use but definitely not hard...If you don't put the wax right on the hair...smooth the strip down good...and pull it off fast...it might not work or you will lose half your brow. I always watch the pros when I'm getting stuff done, so just emulated what I have seen. You would need to take your time and have some patience.

Cons:
-None. The wax itself has no smell, the kit is well put together, the instructions are concise and easy to understand.

Consensus:

If want save some coins and do waxing yourself...this is a great kit. Its also great for the in between visits to your waxer.

~Rural Style~ Tips for New Thrifters.... Part 3...Washing, Cleaning Thrifted Clothes....

Monday, November 28, 2011

This post is on how  I care for my thrifted clothes once I get them home. Everyone has different ways of washing and caring for clothes. I was never taught to wash clothes...even in college...I drove my clothes home an hour away to get washed. It wasn't til' I graduated and had my first apartment with no washer or dryer and I lugged my clothes to the laundromat  that I learned to wash clothes! Crazy, right? lol!

So...Unless it says "Dry Clean Only" or is a vintage piece...I wash everything. Even things with original tags still attached.

I pretty much follow washing instructions on the tags. I wash by temperature not by color anyway, so it works for me. I love the fresh scent of "good" detergent. When it comes to detergent, there's a difference in the cheap and the pricey in my opinion. The value stuff just half cleans and half softens. I currently hoard and stalk coupons for Tide, my Granny's favorite. She was too serious about washing with only Tide and she was right!! My clothes get clean and are void of any smells. Tide with Downy adds a softening boost to clothes and I don't have to buy dryer sheets.

Another product that I LOVE but is pricey is Downy Unstopables. If I have a washable vintage piece but it has that old smell to it, I add a sprinkle of this to the wash and it rids the smell automatically.

I rarely send my things to the cleaners. I just can't break off the coins for that. I use to back in my single-no kids days...everything went to the cleaners! However, I've found that dryer kits actually work well. I use them for blazers and jackets I get at the thrift store. I don't take chances with "Dry Clean Only". I once bought a cashmere sweater that was Dry Clean Only that I tried to hand wash....$175 down the DRAIN.

The only thing with the dry cleaning kits is that you must get a new one far more in advance than it tells you to or it will not work as well.

I hope these tips help! Let me know if you have any questions!!

~Haul~ Pre-Thanksgiving Thrift Store and Beauty Supply Store...

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

My youngest chap lost his coat at school so we went on an ill-fated hunt for a coat til' I can get to the school lost and found on Monday. Ill-fated as in we were in our mall-less, Target-less, wack hometown looking for a lightweight, yet warm coat for the next couple of days. Of course....we didn't find a coat...but I wouldn't be my mother's daughter if I didn't find something for myself. LOL!

I finally scored a  hot pink clutch from the Sal Val. I don't know how vintage it is but it has a skinny-80s strap included. Its sorta large, which makes it all the better. I should do a post on my clutch collection....I love vintage clutches. You can't pay me to buy one of these Rue 21-F21 $20 cheap knockoffs when they are at the thrift store for $3 or less.
Next, I found a vintage Ritter Straw Handbag. Ritter started making designer straw bags in the 1930's and this is probably from the 60s. The clasp, the raffia/straw and the interior are in excellent condition.

I got both bags for $4.48

I went into the BSS because I don't know about your local private owned BSS', but ours sell kids clothes. I didn't find a coat but I got these three earrings...that I saw on a web store ( that I will not name) for $8 a piece.:/ I will NOT knock the hussle but I paid $1 a piece for these.

I also picked up a new foundation by Ruby Kisses...

Spent $5.25 in the BSS

Felt great afterwards...probably won't be partaking in Black Friday...I never do because I never can.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

~FOTD~ Wet N' Wild I Love( Heart) Matte ColorIcon Palette....

I'm a matte shadow fanatic, so when I heard that a drugstore brand was doing an all matte palette, I just about passed the hell out!! Afforable and conveinent AND I don't have order it online/see that it is sold out/ then can't afford it anyway???? ***SCREAMS***!!!!!

Wet N' Wild did the damn thing on this one...really they did. I use the color/brights side one day and then the neutrals the next. The purple and blue shades are not complete mattes, they have a bit of sparkle in them..but you probably won't see it on. I plan on hunting for a back up...just because.

Day with the Neutral side:

My blending sucks...but hey, the look is gorgeous...I was very surprise that the beige highlight shade was a good brow color on me.
 Day With the Bright Side:

LOVE the brights...I used the beige highlight from the neutral as my brow bone color because I knew the white shade would be too much.

Lovely, just lovely!!!

Anyone own the I love( heart) matte palette??? Let me know!!

~Fresh Coat~ L'Oreal Blue Mosaic....

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

Blue Mosaic is part of the Revlon Expessionists Collection polishes....one that I almost didn't get because I already have two AMAZING blue glitter polishes and I didn't want to be redundant.
Blue Mosaic is a bit more sheer in the base than Facets of Fuschia or Starry Pink in this collex. This is about...four coats...really, I lost count. However, its pretty, and glitters last awhile on my nails and I need that since I have such a busy week ahead...
Here are three of the Revlon Expressionist by Gucci Westman polishes.....There is one more called Smoky Canvas that I skipped because I didn't need another taupe/beige shade...I didn't get any of cosmetics, like the glosses or the lippies....Did you? There still a couple display left out there, so let me know what you got!

My blue glitters that I love compared to Blue Mosaic: China Glaze Atlantis, Revlon Blue Mosaic and OPI Absolutely Alice ( best $8 I spent on polish).

~FOTD~ Wet N' Wild ColorIcon Baked Eyeshadow in Baking A Cake...

Monday, November 21, 2011

I wore Baking A Cake on Saturday and I must say, I love the mixture of colors and neutrals. If you only get one or can only afford one of the Baked palettes... Baking A Cake is a must get. I see alot of different looks from this one compared to Baked Not Fried and Bake Off Contest...

I'm doing all the palettes with just the shadows and no liner because I really want to show how they look alone without liner or lashes. I am wearing primer though. They blend pretty well, too.

I like!!!  Do you own Baking A Cake? Let me know:)....

~FOTD~ Wet N' Wild ColorIcon Baked Eyeshadow in Baked Not Fried....

This weekend, I play with my new Wet N' Wild Baked palettes. First up is Baked Not Fried ( silly name..smh). Its fully of neutral and bronzy browns with pretty intense shimmer. Its not glittery which I was happy about...medium pigmentation...went on really nice with a flat shader brush dry. I find that my synthetic brushes work better with baked shadows. Let me know what kind of brushes you use for baked shadows!:)

I used four of the six shades in the palette. Don't ask me how I put it on...*shrugs*

Love it so far!! Hope it doesn't get lost in the abyss of makeup known as my collection. lol!

Do you own Baked Not Fried?...Let me know what you think of it!

~Real Spotted~L'Oreal LE Holiday Polish, Kiss Nail Dress and Broadway Nails imPress Nails....

Sunday, November 20, 2011

Hi Everyone!!

While on another hunt for Wet N' Wild....this time the Holiday LE Glitter Polish collection...I spotted some new nail goodies from L'Oreal, Kiss and Broadway...Check it out!!!!

Kiss Nails has an answer to Sally Hansen Salon Effects in  Nail Dress. They are the nail polish sheets but these have rhinestones and glitter. The one called BabyDoll was extra cute but there was no price on the display or under the display. I took it as a sign...to not buy it. lol!
Then I spotted some Broadway Press On Nails called imPress with Nicole Schrezinger's face on the display. Everyone's on there hussle these days. The nails looks tiny, as if they were for kids or something.... no price on this display EITHER.
L'Oreal Colour Riche Polish has a Holiday collection.....

The colors looked a bit "done" for my taste...I can guarantee you, there's a dupe for each color in my own stash...so no buys here...

I did  find the Wet N' Wild Holiday Glitters ( I got Believe Me Its Real, 24 Carats, and Diamond In The Rough)....four of the colors were SOLD OUT...and I was in a small city...so ya'll better get in where you fit in if you are looking for those polishes or anything WnW Holiday...its going fast!!

Anyone seen any of these displays at your local drugstores???? Let me know!!
