~Swatches and A Look~ Forever 21 Five Shade Eyeshadow Palette in Khaki/Multi.....

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

Hey Everyone!

A couple weeks ago, I did a Forever 21 clearance haul that took two weeks to be shipped to me.:( In order for me to get the free shipping over $50( which isn't worth a DAMN), I added the Forever 21 Five Shade Eye Shadow Palette in Khaki/Multi. I didn't even Google for reviews, it looked basic and cheap and I wanted the free shipping.

Welp, this little gem has become my favorite neutral palette in my collection! I was just blown away by the color quality and pigmentation. Now, its no Nars or MAC...more on the Milani level side of things.

Ya'll know me, I love cheap and expensive makeup and all things in between.  This palette is $4.80 at F21.
Swatches: no names, of course. That gold in the middle is the Golden ticket of the whole palette!
I wore it today. Its the perfect neutral everyday palette....
I only used one color other than the palette and that was UD Buck as a transition color in the crease.

Anyone else own any Forever 21 makeup? Let me know!

~Fresh Coat~ Nail Polish Shenanigans: Revlon Midnight Sparkle, Nicole By OPI All Kendall-ed Out, Maybelline Color Show Nail Stickers in Cheetah Chic, and Maybelline Color Show in Sea-Quins....

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Hey Everyone!

I feel like its been forever since I did a Fresh Coat post. Seriously, its sheer laziness. lol! I always have new polish to post about, so that is not the problem. The problem is am I excited about said polishes. I want to bring y'all excitement!

So lets's see what I've been wearing and taking off.....

I wore Maybelline Color Show Fashion Prints Nail Stickers in Cheetah Chic with an accent nail in Maybelline Color Show in Sea-Quins.

The Nail Stickers are trash. Yep. They don't lay flat on the nail and even after I shaped the edges, they were still ragged even after sealing them with a top coat. So, the next day the stickers were already peeling. Such a disappointment because the patterns are GORGEOUS but the quality is shoddy. Compared to Sally Hansen or Kiss, Maybelline needs rethink these stickers.

Maybelline Color Show in Sea-Quins is gorgeous too but the longevity is shoddy as well. This is my 2nd Color Show and I got day two chipping. What is up with the quality of these polishes?

I was over that wild print and glitter, so switched to Nicole by OPI All Kendall-ed Out or Up...something like that. lol. Beautiful pink, I was just blown but this shade! Also, the quality is good. I had no chipping for days.

Last but not least, I finally applied Revlon Midnight Sparkle from the Holiday 2012 collection. I like Revlon's creme/glitter polish mixes. I've only had one that I didn't care for. Midnight Sparkle is a good color/glitter concept, but on my nails, its no to the ma'am! I don't like it. The blue black jelly creme is beautiful but the hexagon and the small glitter is silver. I would have rather it been blue. I guess Revlon was trying make it like a starry night. The application was goopy and bumpy too...and its chipping and I'm on the second day of wear.

The trials of a nail polish addict...:/

Any of you own these shades? Thoughts? Let me know!

Disclosure: Maybelline Color Show products were sent to me for review. I was not paid for this post and all views and opinions are my own.

~Real Glamour~ DIY Lash Extensions .....

Hey Everyone!!

So I did a little experiment over the Thanksgiving holiday and applied some individual lashes. I love lashes, but applying strip lashes everyday is too time consuming for my level of talent of applying them. I watched a video by April of Muffinsismylover2012 applying indies and I surprised that she wore them. I thought those were her lashes!

I see girls around these parts wearing lashes, some look straight horrible and some look really pretty and natural. I was going for pretty and  natural.:)

My first attempt I bought a combination packet of lashes ( Glam-i in the yellow box) and Ardell Lash Tite Adhesive in Clear. For my second attempt six days later, I bought medium lashes and used some short lashes too.
My First Attempt

The first attempt took almost TWO hours. I was in my bathroom which has bad lighting and I can't really see well in the first place. I also applied some of them on top of the lash line, instead of on the bottom the lash line like April and it took forever.
I'm wearing them in this picture. I lost a couple due to shoddy application. lol! But I loved the look. The ones that stayed on, didn't come off, through makeup remover, face washing, tears...lol! I was impressed!
My Second Attempt

I used my bedroom lighting and that was lot better to see  for application. I also only used only medium  and short lashes to create the look. The long lengths are too much for me.  I applied them April's way to, on the bottom of the lash line and worked perfectly. I already have very wild lashes so adding lashes to wild lashes actually looked natural. Strip lashes sometimes do not adhere to my lash line because of how my natural lashes grow.

I love these lashes!! They also look even better with mascara. Right now, I'm using Maybelline Clump Crusher, which is perfect because the mascara really doesn't clump, on the natural lashes or the extensions.

So, fam...what do you think? I'm such a kitchen beautician. lol! I don't always get it right, but you never know unless you try.

~Swatches and A Look~ MAC Grey Friday Dupe?

Saturday, November 24, 2012

Hey Everyone!

I missed out on copping that MAC Grey Friday on Black Friday.I wasn't willing to stay up and order it, really. Plus, in the back of my head, I was thinking..."Wonder if there is a dupe.":)

I used to wear a grey lipstick from MAC just like Grey Friday back in the late 90s. I remember buying it at Roosevelt Field Mall MAC Store in 1998. I can't remember the name to save my life ( My twitter doll Ty says she believe it was called Sinful ),but I wore it down to the nub.

That Grey Friday was suppose to be mine...but some things are not meant to be.

I stopped by a local BSS to check if Nicka K NK lippies had a silver lipstick....and THEY DID!!
SN: They are $1 a piece at my BSS.
I grabbed Black 306 and Silver 802...to mix it to the closest dark grey silver I could come up with.
(left to right) Silver 802 and Black 306
F*ckin LOVE  LOVE LOVE IT!!! This hodgepodge color took me back to when I rocked grey lipstick with crazy confidence and belly ring! Its super chic. I thought my teeth would  look yellow with it on...but it didn't to me.
Close up shot...yep, feeling myself. lol!
I was also chatting with one of twitter divas, The Diva Doll, and she said that Kate Moss for Rimmel #15 and UD Oil Slick were two possible dupes for Grey Friday as well.

Did you get Grey Friday? Is this a close "dupe" (used loosely) ? Let me know!

~Swatches +Looks~ Laura Mercier Holiday 2012: Art Deco Muse.....

Thursday, November 15, 2012

Hey Everyone!

Here are the details and inspiration behind the creation of this collection.....

For the holiday season, Laura was inspired by the decorative architecture, style and mood of the Art Deco period in Paris in the mid-1920’s, most notably the beautiful paintings of the artist Tamara de Lempicka.

Laura created rich makeup shades of gilded golds, glamorous reds and striking blacks to beautifully contrast each other to achieve a beautifully ornamental look. Golds and bronzes are paired with high-shine reds and deep blacks. Eyes are sharply designed and defined – lined in black, with gilded shimmer eye colours as a beautiful golden background.  Lips wear super-shiny red lacquer.

I chose to feature two of the Creme Smooth Lip Colours and one of the Nail Lacquers.

(left to right) I chose Deco Rouge and Tamara Red. I'm just head over heels about red lipsticks lately!
Swatches of Deco Rouge ( left) and Tamara Red (right)
Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Deco Rouge
I created a golden, bronzey eye with deep black liner inspired by the collection and  to complement the colors.
Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Deco Rouge is a orangey bright red but it works on me. Depending on my eyes and foundation color, I can wear most reds: orange or blue based.
Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Tamara Red
I'm in LOVE with this color!!!
Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Tamara Red - Tamara Red is more of a brown, coral-y red. Its wearable without being uncomfortable. I know some women are uncomfortable with wearing red. Tamara Red is a very comfortable red.
I also put on a fresh coat of Laura Mercier Nail Lacquer in Crimson.......
Crimson fits right in with the Oxblood color trend that's all the life this season. I felt like my nails were dripping with class and taste. lol! Crimson is a super sexy color! Two coats were perfectly opaque.

~Swatches +Looks~ Ulta Film Noir 12pc Collection.....

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Hey Everyone!!

I've always been on the fence when it comes to Ulta's store brand products and makeup. Some of it is hit or miss, especially the makeup. Before Ulta moved closer to me in distance, I only had a couple of pieces of their makeup: eye shadows and polish purchased years ago. Now, I see that they have expanded tremendously: skincare, professional makeup line, palettes, etc. I'm ready to dive in and try out everything, with coupons of course:)

I picked up Ulta Film Noir 12pc Collection for $12.99 with 20% off coupon.

Vintage Hollywood glamour goes to the dark side with smoldering smoky eyes with this palette by ULTA.

With the Film Noir collection, smoky eyes can be created using traditional colors or by using blackened greens, browns purples and blues.  Collection includes 9 eye shadows, 1 cheek color, 1 lip gloss, mini eye li2waqner and applicators.  Tutorials for how to get the look included.

First things that struck me about them was the setup of the palette. They look like old Urban Decay palettes, with the rectangular shadows and the name printed below.

The colors are (left to right):
Top Row: Silk, After Hours, Gold Leaf
Middle Row: Gold Dust, Sin City, Firework
Last Row: Glamazon, Toast, Sapphire

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First Look: I went straight to the neutrals! I used Toast, Gold Dust and Gold Leaf. As I was applying them, I thought that the colors were not pigmented enough for my taste. However, the shadows photograph beautifully.
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Second Look: I went for a look in my college alumni colors, garnet and gold by using Firework, Toast and After Hours.
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Third Look: I wanted smoky and sultry so I used Firework, Sapphire, and Toast. Sapphire is a banger...dark blue with lots pigmentation.
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall:

The colors are gorgeous and the palette is go to for a smoky eye look when you don't want to dig up all the colors in different palettes and single shades. I would have loved to see a black shade in this palette. I mean what is a smoky eye palette with out a black shadow? The closest shade to black in Sin City, a dark green blue shade.

I haven't even touched the blush or the gloss or the liner. Hilarious. I was eagle eyed on those shadows, girl!

Do you own Ulta Film Noir? Let me know?
