~Review + FOTD~ NYX Bohemian Chic 24 Perfect Nude Matte Shadows & 2 Gorgeous Blushes....

Hey Everyone!!

I picked up NYX Bohemian Chic Palette at Ulta a couple of weeks ago with a $5 off $10 coupon.
You all know I love neutrals and I was sucked into this 24 shadows and two blushes deal. lol!

Get a gorgeous free-spirited look using the Bohemian Chic palette! Take on any journey with this portable kit in hand that includes 24 soft matte eye shadows that vary in subtle earth tones, 2 hearty blushes, and 2 duo ended eye shadow applicators to create any look everywhere you go.
After I bought this palette, I got in my car and opened it....and almost went back in to return it. Why?

The neutrals are better suited for cooler toned skins. However, I said I would give it try.:)
*** Excuse the bright highlighting around the brows, I was still learning the sculpted brow technique with the right colors.:)

I played a couple of the dark matte neutrals and some of the lighter neutrals for a couple of days before I came up with something I liked. The formula of the neutrals are very light textured. I don't think it would show up well on lighter skins to be honest. However I get the creative formula behind it. Very subtle neutrals with pops of blue and pink are fashionably descriptive as "bohemian chic"

Check out this "bohemian chic" style collage or....

Soft neutrals, demin blues, natural flushy cheeks. I get it NYX!
The darker nudes are nice but not buildable in color. The blue and plum shades on the 2nd tier are GORGEOUS. They could have made a palette out of the second tier color by themselves!!
Both blushes are gorgeous as well and WOC( Women Of Color) friendly......
Consensus:

I'm still wearing the blushes and playing in the palette. Its one of those "you never know unless you try" products. If I saw a review or saw this twitter 1st I would have probably never bought it. Its. 18.00 but I used a $5 off coupon at Ulta so I spent $13 and some tax which wasn't huge lose since I'm still intrigued by it!

~Swatches + Review~ tarte eye catchers 6-piece smolderEYES™ & skinny smolderEYES™ collector's set........

Friday, October 19, 2012

Hey Everyone!

I'm bringing you another yummy holiday set from tarte cosmetics. This is

 tarte eye catchers 6-piece smolderEYES™ & skinny smolderEYES™ collector's set

The eye catchers set comes with 5 smolderEyes pencils and 1 skinny smolderEYES pencil in onyx.
I already own one smolderEYES pencil with NO NAME. It came in a kit **shrugs** lol! I used them as a base color under shadow, like one would use a shadow stick...
(left to right) Champagne,Ash Violet, Rainforest Black,Gunmetal, Gold, and Onyx
I used Gold and Gunmetal out one day, on top of e.l.f's shadow base. The results were a long lasting color with a bit of creasing after five hours. Really! I just did that to check out the longevity without a shadow on top of the pencil.

Consensus:
LOVE THESE PENCILS!!! I don't own a zillion shadow sticks because I really thought I didn't need them. I understand why so many people use them but its not that serious for me. I only own two of the highly popular NYX pencils, Black Bean and White and I melted them down in a container and barely use them. I like the longevity and brilliance of color of the tarte pencils. The "smudger" sponge could be eliminated. I rather smooth the color on with a concealer brush or a synthetic flat brush.

The set is $39 compared to $25 for ONE smolderEYES pencil and $19 for ONE skinnyEYES pencil. I believe these are same full size pencils that they sell. Its like buy one get five free!! Get you a piece!

Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review. All opinions are my own.

~Swatches + FOTD~ Wet N' Wild Sparkle Til' Morning.....

Thursday, October 18, 2012

Hey Everyone!

Next up from Wet N' Wild Where's the Party ColorIcon Holiday 2012 is Sparkle 'Til Morning. Check out my swatches and look for Shimmer The Night Away HERE

Sparkle Til' Morning is the palette I really wanted out of the collection. I love neutrals with a pop color.

( left to right) Sparkle 'Til Morning and Shimmer The Night Away.....
Swatches for Sparkle 'Til Morning. They came out really light and flimsy. I was lightweight not happy about that.:/
Here's the look I came up with for Sparkle 'Til Morning. Most of the neutral on the top lid and I used the turquoise green on the bottom lid with a wet smudging brush with some MAC Fix+.

Overall:

The colors are beautiful and the palette as an artistic whole is aesthetically perfect to me. However, after using it, I was reminded that I have many of these colors in my collection, just not together in a 8-pan.

~Swatches + FOTD~ Wet N' Wild Shimmer The Night Away.......

Hey Everyone!

I can't call it. I've been having the best luck finding this season's must have and highly hunted drugstore makeup and limited edition items. I never go into any other CVS' other than my hometown ones. On this past Saturday, I went into a Spartanburg area CVS and there they were...Wet N' Wild Where's The Party ColorIcon Holiday 2012 8-pans. I literally SCREAMED! lol!

I really only wanted Sparkle Til' Morning but the BOGO FREE Sunday sale had already started in my area so I went ahead and grabbed Shimmer The Night Away. I have the I Heart Matte 8-pan from last year so I didn't get the other palette on the display.

(left to right) Sparkle Til' Morning and  Shimmer The Night Away.....
Swatches of Shimmer the Night Away. I liked that dark blue the best.....
Here's the look I came up with using Shimmer The Night Away.....
I free styled this one...can't remember what color is where. lol! However the the light lavender shade is on my lid and it was the hardest to build. Its sheer as all get out!

I used the blue on the lower lid on a wet brush with MAC Fix +.

Overall:

Its a beautiful palette. I'm glad I got it, just for the blue shade!

~Review & Swatches~ tarte Girl Meets Gloss 5-piece Maracuja Gloss Collector's Set.....

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

Hey Everyone!!

I'm getting in a quick review of tarte Girl Meets Gloss 5- Piece Maracuja Gloss Collector's Set before I watch the Presidential Debate. After the debate comes on and goes off, I have no focus at all!!

tarte's Girl Meets Gloss set is a QVC exclusive. It includes 5 full size Maracuja glosses for $34.50. One Maracuja gloss is $21, so the price is a steal.

The shades in the kit are:
(left to right) Bubbly, Curious, Preppy, Chic, and Sparks
 Bubbly
 Curious
 Preppy
 Chic
Sparks

Pros:
-the price of the kit is awesome! $35 is , again, a steal for glosses that costs $21 for one.
-the applicator is brush with a pumping action to get the gloss up to the brush. I love this because I used to be a huge fan of Stila glosses that are of similar packaging.
-the formula is not sticky and the minty smell is very faint.

Cons:
-the pigmentation is zilch. When I do wear gloss alone, I want my lips to be opaque with the color. I don't know what tarte was doing when they made a $21 gloss clear...5 glosses at $21 a piece fairly clear. They probably look better on less pigmented lips. Here's an example.
-the formula is a bit heavy. I applied the gloss on top of a couple of lipsticks and it was too much for me.

Consensus:
If you like pigmented glosses, skip Girl Meets Gloss. The beautiful packaging, the great price and it looks like any other $1 gloss at the beauty supply store. However, this would be the perfect gift for a teen who's just starting out wearing makeup and is trying to keep it subtle and pretty. This also be a perfect gift for the all around lip gloss lover who loves gloss regardless of formula.

What do you think Girl Meets Gloss Set?
