Glamour Grub: me & goji Custom Artisanal Cereal....

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

As a lover of a good, healthy breakfast, I was excited to discover me & goji, a company that lets you custom your own cereal with a nutritional focus. Adam, Alexander and Carl, the founders of me & goji, call it "cereal couture"....how "haute"! :)

I got the privilege to custom my own "capsule" of healthy wholesomeness. I was thrilled, I felt like I was designing my morning or something. I chose:

-flax+flaked
-cornflakes
-golden raisins
-goldenberries
-walnuts
-brazil nuts

The process of building your cereal is quite cool. You choose from fruits, flakes, nuts and all sorts of other natural goodness or you can just choose one of the store mixes. You can make a oatmeal mix, a granola mix for snacking or a kids mix!

If you custom your mix...you get to NAME it....**giggles** I named mine "The Healthy Glamour Mix":)

It arrived in great condition, sealed perfectly( this picture is after I ate TWO bowls)...I actually got it about 11 am so I made a bowl quickly. The flakes, nuts and raisins mixed perfectly with a splash of vanilla soy milk( less milk/more cereal person, I just want the cereal to be moist...its an art, people) I wasn't keen on the goldenberries, they taste like sour patch kids! lol! I'll pick a different fruit when I order it again.
Thanks Naomi for hooking this joint up, mama!!! Your awesome!
Overall, great cereal, AMAZING CONCEPT. I just love it...I'm afraid I'll eat it up so I been eating The Healthy Glamour Mix every other day. You can reorder your mix whenever, its always on file. Plus, this is an awesome gift, especially for the holidays. They have a "Cereal Club" coming up this holiday season.:)

Review and $15 GC Giveaway for Eco Mom!.... **CLOSED**

I live with the "Snack-a-Holics"....no, they are not a new R&B group but they are Spencer and Kelton, a set of 5-year old twin boys who conspire to consume snacks ALL DAY LONG. From bananas, Capri-Suns, grapes, pretzels, and their favorite Nutty Buddies, its non-stop chomping even if they have eaten all three meals that day! It only ends when they take a bath and brush their teeth afterwards. No more food, no more snacks....til' the next day!!

Good thing, I received to review the Revolution Foods Sampler from EcoMom, a website that provides "Simple. Smart. Safe" eco-friendly products for the family. They have a range of everything from baby clothes to household cleaners to beauty products.

The Revolution Foods Sampler consisted of Revolution Foods Organic Mashups Squeezable Fruits and Jammy Sammies...
Spencer enjoyed the Jammy Sammy. He ate two in a sitting. Kel didn't care for them till he saw them in one of the snack containers on the counter then he ate another one. LOL. Guess he need presentation. I love the Jammy Sammies. They are great snack before going to workout. I need just enough to wade off the hunger and they did it for me.
Spencer sucked down three of the Mashups...He said tasted like smoothies, which he loves. Kelton liked them to without the visual presentation.LOL. I thought they were a little baby foodish for me but I can see the boys grabbing the Mashups and a bag pretzels for afternoon pick up afterschool.

Plum and Revolution offer a wide variety of products from the High Chair to the Lunch Box.

EcoMom also has a new program called EcoPass. This allows you to purchase a $99 annual membership, which provides you a 15% discount on every order, free shipping with no minimum requirement of $75. EcoPass pays for itself in as few as 4 orders and costs only $8.25 per month.

Review: GOGO by Therafirm Footless Tights....

Yes, your Diva has started work out. I looked at the calender and saw that my kids will be 6 in August....and I will have been the same size since 2004. This is not about a diet or losing weight, but renewing my life and making wise lifestyle choices. There so many products to aid a person on a fitness journey and being the product junkie I am...I wanna try them all.:)

The good people over at GOGO by Therafirm sent me a pair their footless tights to try and review!

I've started going to yoga twice a week and I've become quickly obsessed with perfecting my poses. I'm plus size girl so there is a bit of tweaking I have to do( ex: I put a rolled up towel under my lower back when we do the on the back floor poses...works like a charm). I wore the footless tights under a pair of capri-style cotton leggings and I was able to get an extra stretch in all my poses.

The tights contain micro fiber yarns and Lycra that aid in improved circulation and reduce swelling. They also assist in moving blood to your heart and gives you more energy. I can tell the difference in how my legs felt after wearing the GOGO footless tights on a 20min treadmill run. My legs were not crazy tired!

Please check them out at www.gogohealthy.com and join the "Healthy-Beautiful" movement!

Review and Giveaway: My Lip Stuff....***CLOSED***

Hey Everyone!

A true beauty addict will keep searching till they find perfection in a wanted product. From end to end, we will test every conditioner for the perfect softness to the best of best foundation for our skin tone. In my case, the search for a great lip balm has been elusive. Lip Balms so important because they are necessary to the health and shape of the delicate skin on your lips. I recently came across, My Lip Stuff, a eco-friendly lip balm company who uses amazing recipe of sunflower oil, beeswax, cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, castor oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, and aloe vera to soothe the tender pucker. They also smell and taste amazing!!

I received to review Maple Walnut( smells like cake or warm muffin, Yum!), Jack Frost( Minty and nostalgic reminds of my 1st lip balm) and Rainbow Sherbet( like eating lemon Skittles, Double Yum!).

I like the buttery feel that got as applied them. I left one sitting under a lamp by mistake and when I applied it, it looked like a natural colored gloss. I felt finished after I applied it with a bit of mascara on my lashes ( picture above). The only con is I might eat the Maple Walnut lip balm! Help me! It smells divine! LOL!

Traveling Beautiful: Top 5 Beauty Products For Travel.....

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

Hey Everyone!

I have enlisted my soror and global travel muse/inspiration, Meredith of Around The World with Meredith, to give me her top five beauty products she takes on all her trips, like Japan, Jamaica, NYC, Dominican Republic, and most recently Key West Fla and Cozumel, Mexico.

#1- Moisturizers with SPF
(At the moment I use Equate Firming Moisturizers and Neurogena Ultra Mist SunBlock SPF 100)

#2- Mascara and Bronzer(or blush)
(At the moment I am using L'Oreal Extra Collagen in Black Waterproof and Black Radiance Golden Shimmer)
#3- Witch Hazel
( At the moment I use Beyond Belief Witch Hazel)

( that's Meredith as a Geisha in Japan! Check out her Japan posts on her blog:))

#4-- Baking soda: I love it b/c it is multi-purpose. After a day of bugs and birds on the safari in DR, a baking soda mask did the skin good. Not only did my skin feel smooth, but it relieves a few insect bites. Forgot to pack mouth wash? Gargle with baking soda. Ate too many Octopus balls and stomach is sour? Sip a little soda water( if you have Hypertension not a good idea).

#5-Water- In the past, I have packed every piece of makeup I've owned and only used the same 3 things. Reality is when I'm traveling, I want to be camera ready at all times with little to no effort. From laying on the beach all day and needing to stay hydrated to sampling greasy street food and needing a good "flushing out" water is essential. Water also minimize puffiness and swelling that make occur after a night out on the town.

Great products for a successful trip. All of the products Meredith brings are budget friendly and fab! Be sure to go ( RIGHT NOW) to check and follow her travel blog, Around The World With Meredith. Its filled with beautiful pictures, fun videos, and thoughtful commentary from the travel bug who has the bug for travel herself!

Thanks again, Soror Meredith XOXO!!

Review: EO Products....

Monday, July 19, 2010

I got the chance to test and review an awesome box of goodies from EO Products! Here’s a list of everything they sent me:

All Purpose Cleaner - Meyer Lemon 16oz.

Liquid Hand Soap - Peppermint & Tea Tree 12oz.

Bubble Bath - Time Out: Vanilla & Coconut with Tangerine 12oz.

Hand Sanitizing Spray - Organic Peppermint with Thyme 2oz.

Shampoo - French Lavender 1.5oz.

Conditioner - French Lavender 1.5oz.

Shower Gel - French Lavender 1.5oz.

Body Lotion - French Lavender 1.5oz

EO(EO® stands for Essential Oils) products is “a family owned and operated, Certified Organic Manufacturer of personal care products using the highest grade natural and certified organic ingredients.” I love their motto “ Love Life, Live Clean”.

Out of all the products I was sent I absolutely was blown away by three them! Check them out:

Meyer Lemon All Purpose Cleaner: All Purpose is a such an understatement because this Cleaner does EVERYTHING. Dishes, floors, kids, bathrooms…I even used it to wash my makeup brushes. It is by far, the best makeup brush cleaner ever. I used a tablespoon in a bowl of water and my brushes were clean without much manipulation to them. I also gave myself and the kids a chance to use the all purpose cleaner as a bath/shower gel. The low PH balance of 4.5-5.5 makes it very gentle on the skin, therefore I or the boys did not have dry skin afterwards and the Meyer Lemon scent smells divine

Bubble Bath Time Out Vanilla & Coconut with Tangerine: Nothing like a good bubble bath after long workout to sooth the muscles and skin. I love the scent, reminds of me a Creamscicle and the suds are buoyant as well.

Organic Peppermint with Thyme Hand Sanitizing Spray : I used the Hand Sanitizing Spray on guess what? My yoga mat. I wanted to sanitize it instead of washing it. The spray is a light mist, so a couple of sprays covered the mat. I let the spray dry on the mat and it smelled divine afterwards. I also sprayed it on my kids’ booster seats and my steering wheel to freshen up the car. I know its not all purpose hand sanitizer but I made it one. There’s idea for you!

Overall, everything I received was great. I tucked away the French Lavender Shower Gel, Lotion, Shampoo and Conditioner (which are 1.5oz size) in my pre-packed travel bag to use on trip later this month and Peppermint & Tea Tree Liquid Hand Soap is in the bathroom getting much use. EO is sold on online and in various stores, all you need to do is go their store locator on their site!

Disclosure: These items were sent me to me by EO for review.

I purchased this makeup and brush roll set from A Soft Black Star on etsy.com. I saw this a week ago and immediately bookmarked it. I don't own a brush roll. The whole set is $25.99 and I can't wait to get it! I will be posting pics and a possible review.:) Check out her goodies!

Rural Glamour: Hard Candy Meteor-eyes Baked Glitter Eye Shadow in Supernova...

Hey Everyone!!

If you watched my Wal-Mart/NYX haul video( if you haven't, click here and subscribe for your cousin:)) I mentioned that I picked up Hard Candy Meteor-eyes Baked Glitter Eye Shadow in Supernova. I used it dry on this look, but I'm sure you can use it wet too....
**Sucky blending ahead..watch your head, please**

Supernova is a grape-y purple, extra pigmented, with specks or fuchsia glitter sprinkled within. The glitter will casually show up applied dry but will not cause fall out what so ever. Me likey. Didn't do much building of the color, so its very true to what you see in the package....
I wouldn't mind the other colors of this either. Great little gem. Go get it:)

***Side note***
Apparently....Supernova has a MAC dupe in MAC Young Punk...check it out:)

Review: BH Cosmetics 120 Palette 3rd Edition....

Hi Everyone!!

I was offered that the great opportunity to review BH Cosmetics 120 palette 3rd edition. I don't own any of the popular "88 palettes" or 120 palettes, so this is great!!

I've often wish listed one of these multi-palettes but have never purchased one because I always felt like I own most of the colors. That was no where near true, but essentially I talked myself out of buying one.

My BH Cosmetics 120 came packaged carefully. I was thinking the whole time it was being shipped "Will it show up in pieces? that's alot a eye shadow" LOL! It came pristine and perfect:)
Here it is freshly out the box, untouched. This is the top and bottom trays....they both are removable....
Top Tray of colors....mostly primary shades, brights...mixture of mattes and shimmers and glitters...
Bottom tray...mixture of darks, smoky colors...reminded me of a great fall palette of shades...lots of neutrals....also a mixture of shimmers and mattes....
Day 1- I created a gray eye...I was oddly nervous. So many colors to choose from and I'm not the best at eye shadow shade pairing....The look came out soft and pigmented....
Day 2- I got the hang of the color choosing.LOL! I was literally drawn to this BAD neon green-yellow color. Reminded me of this crayon green-yellow I use to color with down to the nub!

Day 3-I used some of the neutrals to create a eye using my Tarte Clay Shadow/Liner in Bronze, which is all over the lid. The palette flawlessly blended well with the Shadow/Liner....

Day 4- This look was challenging because I couldn't get a good hold on my blending. Some of the darker shades are bit blending challenged....they require some work!
Overall:

For $34.95...this palette gives mega selection and good quality. Like I said, some the darker colors require a bit of elbow grease when blending but overall the color payoff is great. I've used this palette everyday in some sort of fashion, either for an entire look or just to help other colors that already have. You'll find yourself reaching for this palette again and again!

Big Thanks BH Cosmetics!

Jamie
