A $2.50 Beauty and Hair Haul...

Friday, September 04, 2009

I think I've told ya'll several times about this little salvage grocery store called Green's in my hometown. The treasures I find there are insane. Lately, as far as beauty stuff, they have been slack. Probably because the people in this town don't know the jewel of "product-dom" they are...

Today, I went in looking for those cone coffee filters. I lucked up a couple months ago and got 100 pack for $2.00. lol!

I found a Goodie Hair Wrap( I have this in black)

Masterpiece of Essie with Essie Top Coat,Bordeaux, and Fishnet Stockings

Two Wet N' Wild 650c and 661b
Now, I own, already, Fishnet Stockings and think I own Bordeaux(*update 9/9/09-i dont' own bordeaux already! yes! Score!) but I don't have an Essie Top Coat.I use Seche Vite, but I'm running out!!!! Fishnet Stockings is the one that has the sticky polish on the outside, but I was able to open it and it was not sticky at all...surprised!
I've been noticing in the last couple of MAC collections bright colored eyeliners, so I grabbed these two WnW ones to play with. See if I can dupe some looks:).

Have a great weekend!!!

Review Jane Carter Solution Nourish &Shine,Revitalizing Leave In Conditioner, and Wrap & Roll...

Tuesday, September 01, 2009

Hi Everyone!!

First I want thank Jane Carter Solution for allowing me to test out some of their products.

All I can say is I'm hooked.:)

Pros:
-Its a rich, buttery moisturizer. It just melts into the hair!
-The smell is amazing, fresh not perfume-y or plastic-y like some ethnic hair moisturizers are.
-Great for "sealing" I used this after I applied JC Leave In and JC Wrap Roll and my curls felt soft and pliable.

Cons:
-Its listed as $22 for 4 oz...bit pricey but subscribe to the newsletters and there's always great deals offered:)
Jane Carter Revitalizing Leave In Conditioner
Pros:
-Smells Great:) I'm so about the smell when it comes to hair products
-Lightweight. Which matters when you dry under a hooded dryer and you want you hair to dry quick!
-Great price...only $9...I've seen higher in BSSs on other brands...

Cons:
-None!...I need some more:)
Pros:
-Also Lightweight and quick drying
-comes in foam pump, so it can pump it twice and get just right amount
-Curls are soft and not hard after dry...love that about a wrap lotion:)
-Great price @ $9. I'll pay that for a good wrap lotion that holds. I've set my hair twice with Wrap &Roll and both times my curls lasted 4 days or more...Record time for someone who sweats bullets. ha!

Cons:
None! Want some more of this too!!

N.O.T.D. Essie Midnight Cami...

Monday, August 31, 2009

Happy Monday!!!

I've been sick all weekend with a cold/ H1N1 flu/Bronchitis/The Plague. I tried to self diagnose but can't pinpoint it. Oh well, I'll treat like a cold and nurse/pray/sweat/drink myself back to health. Even though I had a rough weekend, I'm happy!! Perhaps it was that Codeine cough medicine I just took...lol!!!

I decided to stop into Trade Secret on my way to get my kids Sunday. Bad decision. They had the Essie Fall 2009 Collection but it was all sold out except this lone Midnight Cami. Why? They were having a BOGO Free sale on all Essie.

I'm on the fence with Midnight Cami...I compared it to Zoya Indigo and O.P.I. Russian Navy. They both are more glittery but Midnight Cami is bit more subdued, no glitter and its super glossy almost jelly-like. It looks black from a distance....

Review:Tarte Lifted Natural Eye Primer with Firmitol...

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Hi Everyone!!

Thanks to the folks at Tarte...I got the opportunity to try Lifted Natural Eye Primer with Firmitol. It's literally my very first'real' eye primer. I've been using L'Oreal H.I.P. Paint in Commanding as my primer so trying out Lifted was greatly appreciated:) LOL!

Pros:
-even though it looks like its not my color of my lid it blended in well into my skin. Very universal.

-My eye shadow( cheap and expensive) held on for HOURS. I mean HOURS. I didn't crease and my look would still intact at night when it was time to wash my face. I'm now a believer in 'real' primers.

-A little goes a long way. I dabbed with the dough-foot applicator and then blended all of the eye with my finger.
I think this will last for a minute, long as I screw the top on good:).

Cons:
-it contains Firmitol...
'clinically-tested, patented, multi-ingredient “performance matrix” combines GABA, purslane extract, ginseng extract and centella asiatica extract for an instant wrinkle reducing effect.'

-I thought that it firmed my lid a little. I watched over the last week for the results and really didn't see a 'wrinkle reducing'. I do have a bit of creasing in the outer corners but that can't be wrinkles. I'm 31(!?!?!?!) But I watched for firming on the lid...not much changed.

Consensus:

If you don't invest in anything, and you are cheap and broke like me, invest in Tarte's Lifted!
