Review: L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara

Thursday, September 10, 2009

Hey Everyone!!

Here's a preview review of the new L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara, due to be available to the public November 2009!!

The brush LOOKS similar to the Givenchy Phenomen'Eyes Mascara. I've never seen Phenomen'Eyes up close and personal so I will not compare! lol!! But, it was the first mascara I was reminded of when I saw Telescopic Explosion...
Me...before. I just have on Tarte Lifted and a Sephora Duo No 5....
After, with Telescopic Explosion...two coats.

Pros:

-I love the little brush...grabs every lash!
-The formula doesn't dry hard. My lashes were still soft and pliable.

Cons:
-I thought the wand itself is a bit too long.I kept bumping my lashes on the wand while working the brush. It created a lumpy lash. Your dexterity must be on point to not knock your lashes into the wand! It could be about a 1/2 inch shorter...

Consensus:

I love it!! I needed something new and fresh in mascara and here it is!!! Despite my wand issues, my lashes were long and lush:).

N.O.T.D. Essie Island Hopping...

I grabbed Essie Island Hopping as part of BOGO Free Essie I got two weeks ago at Trade Secret. This pic does no justice... Its GORGEOUS!!!! It look like a muted purple/pink/mauve in the bottle but is really the perfect fall lavender....ahhhh!!!

GO GET IT!!! You'll love it!!

Homemade Glamour: Morning Buzz Body Scrub...

Tuesday, September 08, 2009

I always see these articles in beauty magazine about at home beauty treatments "Right out of your kitchen!"...So I thought I would try "Right out of your kitchen!!" Morning Buzz Body Scrub I found this recipe in Publix's Greenwise Magazine...

1/4 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons of honey
1 tablespoon grape seed oil( I used olive oil)
1 egg white
1/4 cup freshly ground coffee
2 tablespoons of wheat germ

mix it together, makes two treatments...

Consensus:

I made the scrub the night before. It was freezing cold but the scrubbing grains of coffee made a delightful treat. I loved it!! I making another batch tonight for in the morning. I didn't have the after smell of coffee on my skin like I thought I would either. I was able to put on what ever lotion I wanted. My skin felt amazing too. But the downfall is...a messy shower/tub. Get ready to clean like a housekeeper. It creates a mess.

Review: Revlon Runway Collection Nails...

Monday, September 07, 2009

Happy Labor Day!!!

Today, I'm reviewing Revlon Runway Collection Nails...... I wore a set for 5 days. Here's the scoop!
Pros:
-Great for going out or for a special occasion like a wedding....

Like if you are the boho bridesmaid in a high maintenance bride-zilla wedding. Bride-zilla demands all the bridemaids wear french mani tips and toes and you don't or can't spill another $50-$60 on her wild, over the top wedding. Grab a box of Runway Nails, apply and take them off later that night.

-They last at least 5 days. The box says 7-10 days and I believe them, but I wanted to take mine off so I could play with a nail design I had in mind. I washed my hair twice, washed dishes twice a day, and didn't lose one nail.

-Runway Nails look like high maintenance acrylics...Ive worn acrylics tip on and off since 1993. At my peak, I was in the nail spot once a week for a nail design or fill in or new set because I was young with no children and way too much money to spend. These will definitely satisfy that craving but only for 7-10 days....

-My real nails were in great condition when I took them off.

Cons:

-I forgot that nail glue makes me itch. Ugh....

-The sizing of the nails are weird. I suggest ignoring that "numbers" system and fit them according to your nail size you feel comfortable with.

-The box suggests to put glue on the back of the nail and on the nail...FAIL. Don't do it. It's too much glue. Choose one or the other.

-The removal process is rough!! I soaked, and soaked and soaked my nail in acetone remover. They DISSOLVE and not PEEL off like the old press ons. It took me an hour to get them off and I still have a bit left on my right index finger nail.

Overall...I will wear the other sets I have. I like them. It was a great change up!!! But, I love my own nails more.:)
