Rural Glamour: New Natural Nail Journey!

Thursday, November 18, 2010

On Wednesday night, I took off my two month old acyrlics. As if I need another "journey" to embark on.... I will now be natural nailed and striving toward strong, long nails...

Now, I don't knock acrylic or gel nail wearers...I've been wearing them on and off since I was 16. But the rude service at nail salon, the slack service at nail salons, the rip off that is nail art at the nail salons were getting too much each time. Plus, I always have problems with my acrylics being on the verge of coming off even after a fill in. Why? My nails grow crazy fast. $$$$$$

So, I will updating every two weeks for two months on my nail journey, then every month. Hey, if I can go natural hair, I can go natural nail'd:)

Adeea of The Trendy Socialite sent me this video of this regimen that I will follow and hopefully see some results!

My left hand after I took off the nails....My left hand's nails have more deeper grooves from the drills the nail techs used.....
My right hand's nails are in better shape but the acrylics came off too easy on this hand.....
And look what I  "Stash Shopped"!!! ALL OF THIS....was in my own collection. I didn't have to go out and buy any thing. Saving money already!!!

So after I removed the nails, buffed them and trimmed them....I applied a coat of Sally Hansen Diamond Shine, two coats of Sally Hansen Nail Prisms in Golden Cinnabar, a coat of Sally Hansen Diamond Shine again, a coat of Seche Vite and some Solar Oil on the cuticles....

I'm feeling good about it!! How about you? What's your nail regimen and what is working for you?

Gearing Up for Fall and Winter Beauty: Beecology....

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

My body product arsenal is ever changing especially with the cold weather approaching. I love discovering a new body wash that does the job: cleanse good and moisturize well at the same time.

Today, I'm giving you the scoop on Beecology, a natural products company that focuses on paraben free and SLS ( sodium lauryl sulfate) free goodies. They are also family owned and operated and make all the products themselves. Their beeswax and honey based products are from their own family farm where they tend to the bees themselves!

I was sent Beecology Lavender and Bergamot Body Wash, a travel size of The Original Honey Hand and Body Cream and shower scrubbie.

I'm going to give you the rundown on the Lavender and Bergamot Body Wash....

"Moisturizing Natural Lavender & Bergamot Body Wash. The perfect combination of lavender essential oil with just a hint of bergamot for that citrus after note."

Pros:
-a lather is BANANAS!!! Its smooth, abundant and creamy. And its natural? I had to reread the ingredients and it is!
-The scent of Lavender is true. You know I love that detail being a HUGE lavender fan.
- The packaging is sleek and neat. The label to didn't bulge or peel away.
- I would buy this off any shelf. Appealing to the eye!

Cons:
- After I rinsed the lather, I did feel a bit stripped. Their are no sulfates in it though.  I chalk it up to good ol' fashion soap agents.

Overall.... I need the other to scents in this Body Wash Grapefruit & Lemongrass and All Natural Peppermint( oh, I bet that's the BUSINESS!!)!!! I love this Body Wash. Worth the buy!!

Gearing Up for Fall and Winter Beauty: Eve Organics Sandalwood Pumpkin Masque....

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

The Face, Your Face, My Face!! lol! Its delicate skin is so varied around the board from dry to acne prone to sensitive. I have oily skin. I haven't broken out ( PRAISE THE LORD!!) in months due to my regimen. I've come to terms with my oily, greasy face and don't fight it anymore. I just blot when necessary...several times a day:)

So now I'm looking enhance and retain the clarity and youthfulness of my face with all my might. I actually use a eye cream now! Gasp!! I love treatment masques and scrubs for smoothness and pore reduction.

Today, I'm reviewing Eve Organics Sandalwood Pumpkin Masque.....

A bit of info on Eve Organics....

Our Philosophy....

At Eve Organics, we strive to provide our customers with the finest in organic skin care products and mineral makeup.

We do not use ingredients whose sole purpose is to improve the look or texture of the product.

We invest our money into what goes into the bottle or jar – not the fancy bottle or jar itself. So if our products don’t look like they were purchased in a jewelry store, it’s okay with us.  At Eve Organics, our products’ performance speaks for itself.

"This incredible masque is loaded with all of your skin needs to recoup from the environmental stressors these days.  Use Sandalwood Pumpkin Masque twice a week for a glowing complexion."

Pros:

-Small packaging, easy to store and use. I like masques in small jars.
-Tightened the skin and pores. My face was smoother and pores were smaller after use.
-Rinsed off easily.
-Hardly a scent, but it does smell like pumpkin.

Cons:

-It doesn't smell like sandalwood at all. The ingredient list on top of my jar doesn't even list it. ??????
-Burns when applied. I could take it, in the name of beauty. lol! But I know that lot of folks would not be able to handle the sensation.
-I thought maybe, I was just applying a can of pumpkin puree. I was really unimpressed with the consistency of the masque overall.

What do you think? Is it worth using again? Let me know!!

Gearing Up for Fall and Winter Beauty: Eco Store......

I don't have dry skin but once I start layering and putting on tights, trousers socks, and tanks, the fabric makes my skin itchy. So, its time for me to review and give you the scoop on some products that will get you skin in shape for the season.

EcoStore is a based out of New Zealand but now offers its products thru EcoStoreUSA . Their products are gentle on the budget and contain "No Nasty Chemicals".

I received to review their Baby Moisturizer and Manuka Honey & Kelp Soap..... Let's Go!!
 Baby Moisturizer

Pros:
-Light formulation that moisturizes really good!! Its a lotion but more like oil lotion where all the essential oils included such at Olive Oil, Jojoba Oil, Coconut Oil are the making the skin supple.
-Its has a very faint Lavender scent, but hardly noticeable. Almost unscented and can layered easily other
perfumes and fragrances
-Not just for babies!! Its wonderful on adults as well.
-A little goes along way.

Cons:
-None!! I love it!

Manuka Honey and Kelp

Pros:
- Amazing scent
-Suds well
-Doesn't melt fast like alot of "natural' soaps. I still have significant bar left and its almost been a month since I received it.

Cons:
-People who are not fans of textured soap might like it. Its has bits of, I guess, bran, by what the ingredients say. It might be irritating to some
-It loses its scent as it gets smaller. Right now, It hardly smells like the same soap.

Visit EcoStore USA on Facebook and Twitter!! Its also offered in some stores such as Meijer and Duane Reade....

Back to "Shopping My Stash".....

Sunday, November 14, 2010

Christmas is a coming upon and guess what? I'm broke as usual. However, I'm wiser. I will not be doing extravagant presents for no one. Not even the kids. Why not the kids? They have a Grandma, a Daddy and several other relatives that buy them whatever they want.  I will get them a couple things though, so that means its time really crack down on the spending, as if I'm doing alot spending. smh....The money conversation could go in circles for hours....

I'm back to "Stash Shopping" or "Shopping My Stash" to curve my appetite for new stuff for me. If you have been following my blog for a couple of years, I do it all the time. Its when I go and ramble through my own makeup, jewelry, clothes, etc to find something unused and make it usable. Especially when I have a makeup craving, I head to my makeup stash for a quick  "shopping trip".

Friday, I collected a basket of stuff I forgot I had. It was bananas.:(

Remember mark. by Avon Femme 4 quad? I "stash shopped" almost two years ago!

This is how I worked it back in 2008. LOL at that overrelaxed hair...

Reworked and Re-Shopped!! I did a base of NYX Black Bean and colors just popped!! Plus, my technique is better than it was two years ago ( with constant PRACTICE).

Stash Shopping is the budget saver....Stay tuned for more!
