Rural Glamour: 4 Step Sustainable CURLS.... Aware and Contest!!

Thursday, April 01, 2010

Rural Glamour Beauty is teaming up with Curls to bring you "4 Step Sustainable Curls Campaign"!!

CURLS™, a leader in the curly hair product industry knows that it is not enough to simply be organic. Today it is more important than ever to consider the larger picture and take a 360ยบ approach to living greener. On April 1st 2010 in honor of Earth Month, CURLS™ is proud to launch The 4 Step Sustainable CURLS™ Campaign in order to help consumers reduce their carbon footprint without sacrificing style! On average, curlies have at least 7 partially used bottles of product underneath their vanity/sinks and 9 different brands. This occurs from the “trial and error” process that accompanies curly hair. Nobody needs that much product to make their curls behave! The solution lies in educating yourself on what your individual curls need. The objective of the program is to promote “responsible” product usage and in doing so, reduce waste and encourage recycling. CURLS™ has long promoted their “4 Steps to Frizz Free Curls.” Similarly, this campaign also consists of 4 steps with the ultimate goal being a cleaner, greener environment.

THE FOUR STEPS

  1. Making customers and industry leaders Aware of the effect wasteful product usage has on the environment
  2. To Educate customers, stylists, and salon owners on what they can do to make a difference
  3. Maintain the program through getting customers involved in fun and interactive ways
  4. Share the ways in which CURLS™ is working to Sustain the program through making their business greener

This week Curls brings you.....

Awareness

Are you Aware? Open Your Eyes…look at the facts, decide to make the change.

Did You Know?
  • Over 30 tons of waste are produced for every one ton of product that reaches the consumer
  • 98% of those products that do reach the end consumer are thrown away within 6 months.
  • It takes around 450 years for a plastic bottle to degrade.
  • You absorb up to 60% of any substance applied to your skin, you could absorb up to 4.4 pounds of manmade chemicals through your body every year- that's not healthy.
  • For those curly girls still relaxing their hair...Sodium Hydroxide is the strongest type of principal chemical used in some chemical relaxers because it provides the most long lasting and dramatic effects. However, this same sodium hydroxide is found in drain cleaners, which well demonstrates the strength of this chemical.

So now that you are Aware....We are sponsoring a contest this week!!! You could win a full size Curlicious Curls Cleansing Cream.....

Just tell me in the comment box...How many pounds of manmade chemicals you can absorb through your body every year?

Then, I'll pick a winner on April 8, 2010 by random drawing...only correct answers will be entered!!

Dupe-d: Sephora by OPI Modern Flowers Collection....

Thursday, March 25, 2010

When I saw the new Spring 2010 Sephora by OPI Modern Flowers collection, I immediately thought to myself...."I have those colors!" Sure enough, I do:) Even though I have not seen the Modern Flowers Collection at a 'brick & mortar' Sephora just yet, I used my eagle eye and the picture above to dupe the colors right out of my collection!

As you can see, I lined my colors from collection just like Sephora so you can compare...Here they are listed in order:

( Sephora name in black--Jamie's name in green)

Iris I Was Thinner---- OPI Parlez-Vous OPI?

Go With The Flow-er ----- Maybelline Cutie Pink

It’s Bouquet With Me----Sinful Colors I Miss You

Cover Me In Petals-----Essie Clam Bake

Handpicked For Me----Sinful Colors Let Me Go

Leaf Him At The Altar-----Sinful Colors Show Me The Way

The only color I believe is no longer available out of my dupes is the Maybelline Cutie Pink for the Sephora by OPI Go With The Flow-er. Its described as a Bright tulip pink with hot pink shimmer.

Fresh Coat: Claire's Cosmetics Nail Polish...

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Last week, I picked up some Claire's nail polish for $1 a piece at Claire's ( My Claire's had one of those 10 for $10 sales)....

I've been dying to try one of those 'swirl' looking colors they have...this is Ocean Breeze. I don't like the streaky-ness and it dries semi-matte.
Evergreen-3 coats. For some reason, me no likey.:(
Chunky Silver- perfect glitter coat for on top of a color. 3 coats...
Chunky Silver, without flash....
Chunky Gold- 3 coats. Both glitters need bulletproof top coats to stay on or they'll flake....
Chunky Gold- without flash...

Overall- Glad I got them for a dollar. No way I would buy them at $5.00 a piece....

New at Bath & Body Works: Orange Sapphire...

Friday, March 19, 2010

I grabbed a 2 fl.oz. Orange Sapphire up for $1, now at Bath and Body Works. I love the B&BW is doing that, letting you test out new seasonal scents for a great price. Of course, I used Orange Sapphire, in the morning, and it is a amazing wake up call of a scent. The notes in Orange Sapphire are blood orange, mandarin, white jasmine, golden honey, citrus sangria. Its citrusy and bright, and a bit familiar. Either B&BW or Victoria’s Secret has done this scent before because I’ve owned it. But, in any account, I think I’ll be snatching Orange Sapphire Shower Gel up to put beside my over- abused Weleda Sea Buckthorn Body Wash! I received also a coupon for a Free Body Care Item with any purchase of $10 or More that starts March 29th. Go in get your bargain wake up call on! Lol!
