Last night, during the 2010 Oscars, Mo'Nique who won for Best Supporting Actress gave a beautiful tribute to Hattie McDaniel, the first African-American to win an Oscar and win Best Supporting Actress.
It wasn't the just the part in the speech where Mo' says....
“I want to thank Miss Hattie McDaniel for enduring all that she had to so that I would not have to.”
It just wasn't the color of her dress...a royal blue. ...the same color Ms. McDaniel wore when she won.
It was the gardenias in her hair....Ms. McDaniel wore gardenias in her hair and on her dress on her historic Oscar night....:)
