~Review~ tarte Call Of The Wild Amazonian Clay 8-Shadow Collector's Palette....

Thursday, September 13, 2012

The cool breezes of the upcoming fall are inspiring lots of Fall makeup tutorials on the blog-sphere and on YouTube. I am all in for smoky eyes, dark burgundy lips and touches of gold sparkle in the right places!

I'm digging tarte Call Of The Wild palette because it gives you an awesome selection of smoky, neutrals and combination of both!

There are eight shades: (starting from the left) meow, jungle, call, instinct, wild, lynx, primal, and roar. The names of the shades are on the plastic sanitary cover, so unless you don't care about that covering, don't throw it away!

Jungle, meow, instinct, call, wild are all shimmers. The pigmentation is medium as most tarte eye shadows are.
Lynx, primal, roar are mattes but the pigmentation on these are high. They pack a great color punch.

This look I used call, primal, roar, jungle and instinct. I loved this look!

I used the mattes: primal, roar, and linx and they created a really nice smoky blueish grey look.

The shadows are made of tarte's Amazonian Clay which has a great lasting power. Call of the Wild is priced at $36.

Anyone own this tarte palette? Let me know!

~Review~ Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour...

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

I've been so into lipsticks this year, that my poor lip glosses have been neglected. With Fall and Winter approaching #lipstickseason isn't going ANYWHERE for me!!

I got the chance to try out Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour. I received  Cocoa( left below) and Red Amour (right below) out of the 18 shades available.

( picture taken in natural light)
Cocoa and Red Amour swatches with flash....
Cocoa is a deep, milk chocolate brown creme color with a bit of sheen.
I can't wait to wear this on a  cold, dreary day! I have something similar to this that's super old( like 6 years) that I didn't want to  throw away because it was discontinued. Can you say "dupe"??? Thanks Ms. Mercier!!
Red Amour- is a blue toned red that's went on a bit glossy and sheer, but it's build-able.

Red Amour is perfect red shade. I wish it was a bit flatter and matte. I like my reds flat however its a great color.

OVERALL....

Cocoa and Red Amour are a great additions to my lipstick collection and will be worn consistently!! The formula goes on light ( likeRed Amour) but the lipstick itself is heavy with oils like Olive and Vitamin E and Jojoba Wax. I can tell that wax is in it by how it spreads which is slow. However, you are getting a serious amount of moisturization.

Retail: $26

Are you ready for #lipstickseason or has your lipstick season been going on since January like me? Let me know!

~Haul~ Ulta Goodies...

Monday, September 10, 2012

Hey Everyone!

Ulta has just opened a new store only 30 minutes away from me. Before, the closest store was about an hour away in a very heavy traffic area. I'm not the girl I used to be, a hour away to shop used to be nothing to me but I don't do that now, unless I'm in the car RIDING with someone.lol!

My first trip into the new store, I didn't want to leave. lol! This time I didn't want to leave again either!
I did pick up a couple of goodies, keeping all under $30 and feeling good.:)

Grabbed some cuticle remover for my weekly at home pedis and favorite reconstructing conditioner, Joico K-Pak. I've never seen the small size of this product.
I used to love Ulta store makeup line and I haven't had much of it in a long time. Seems like the price went up on it a bit. They had a sale on the some of the lip products...$4 a piece of these glosses.

I've had one Essence Cosmetics product and it was a polish and really like it, so I got three more polishes and lipstick and I'm going back soon to pick up some the glosses...and polish.

I'm still excited to have a store soooo close to me I could SCREAM!!! LOL! Now if we can get a Sephora between Charlotte and Atlanta in my area, my life will be complete.:)

~Review and Giveaway~ Dove Damage Therapy Daily Moisture Conditioner and Win A $1000 Spa Finder Gift Certificate!!....

Friday, September 07, 2012

I love conditioners and I love adding new ones to my stash. I got the chance to try out Dove Damage Therapy Daily Moisture Conditioner to see if it could fit in my rotation of products.

I used Conditioners, especially ones that sold "on the shelf" ( mass market, drugstore, beauty supply) for deep conditoning. I know that tons and tons of natural hair girls co-wash with basic, inexpensive conditioners. But I find that most conditoners, that were formulated to be used AFTER a shampoo wash and not for shampooing, irritated my scalp. I do use a shampoo that is almost a no-poo shampoo but its not a conditioner. Got it!?? lol!

Here are the Pros and Cons I found with the Dove Damage Therapy Daily Moisture Conditoner. I have Natural, No Chemical Process( except for color) African American 4C textured hair(for those who are unfamiliar with "natural hair").

Pros:
- smell great, similar to most Dove products
-softened my hair
-great for a deep conditioner
-good slipage for detangling

Cons:
- wasn't keen on the ingredients. Not a silicone or -cone lover when it comes to conditioners

Overall:
-I'm tucking this Dove conditioner away as a back up when I'm out of my favorite deep conditioner. I enjoyed it though!
