~Hair~ Review: Essentious Hair Care

Monday, March 12, 2012

Ahh....are you ready for some new hair product reviews? I got a couple coming up and we are going to start first with Essentious Hair Care. I was sent the Complete Package ($45) for review and I've use the products for about six weeks. Let's get started!

 Essentious Exonerate Gentle Shampoo-
"This gentle, moisturizing shampoo uses organically-based emulsifiers with a base of Aloe Vera gel, taking advantage of its renown for healing and moisturizing. It has a rich lather and a light, refreshing scent. Sulfate Free."

Pros:
- very gentle cleansing shampoo, something that you can used at least every two weeks for gentle cleansing if you co-wash.

-cleans the scalp well

- smells like vanilla

Cons:
-Not a clarifying shampoo. It didn't feel like I got a stripped cleansing which I like to do before a do a protein treatment.

Essentious Rejuvenate Strengthening Protein Treatment-
"This protein treatment rebuilds your hair structure and restores protein lost during chemical treatments and heat styling. Stops breakage, fortifies damaged hair, and strenghthens. "

Pros:
- It worked like a medium to strong protein treatment with Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein and Hydrolyzed Keratin, two proteins that can penetrate and rebuild the hair strand.

- has the same vanilla smell as the shampoo. All the products have the same consistent smell which I like, that little detail builds a great scent in the hair!

Cons:
-Needs a good clarifying shampoo before to see results. I used the Exonerate Shampoo before this treatment didn't work well on my hair. But when I used a regular sulfate shampoo and then the Rejuvenate Treatment, it worked perfectly. I had no breakage problems for about two weeks like a normal protein treatment should work.

Essentious Hydrate Conditioning Treatment
"This moisture treatment restores moisture lost during chemical treatments and heat styling. Penetrates the hair to provide moisture within the hair shaft. "

Pros:
-a great moisturizing deep conditioner...15 minutes really made a huge difference in the softness of my hair.
-it has Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein which could be used for a light protein treatment as well.

Cons:
-Its got a bit of a thick, whipped consistency that was a little difficult to get out of a bottle. Maybe a jar would work better.
-It has good slip, but only after it has sat on my hair for about 15 minutes. Before that, I couldn't detangle with it freshly on but after sitting for awhile, my comb slipped right through.

Essentious Shine Daily Moisturizer
"Moisturizes hair with penetrating coconut oil. "

Pros:
-I like the pump action of the oil. It gives you  just enough for the coverage you need.

-the coconut oil penetrates the hair for strengthening.

-I used this on a blow out because it does have grapeseed oil which is awesome for heat styling and I loved the results! Great for heat styling!

Cons:
-I wouldn't use this as a moisturizer, mainly because my hair demands a water based moisturizer. It could be a good sealant,if your hair like light sealants but my hair likes heavier more shea butter and wax sealants.

-I didn't see a big shine difference but I don't have dull hair, my hair has a good natural sheen to it.

-If you are a good "mixologist"...You could mix the coconut oil, grapeseed and fragrance But, I'm not. lol! I would have to buy this product.

Overall.....

For $45, you can get the whole kit, try for yourself, which isn't a bad price for four products. If you want to buy them separately, I suggest to buy the Exonerate shampoo, Hydrate treatment and the Shine oil. I really liked the Essentious products with a tweek here and there, they fit right into my hair regimen:)

So what do you think? Have you tried Essentious products? Let me know!

I received a free product (or products) for review purposes. I did not receive any form of compensation from the company. All opinions are my own and not influenced in anyway. My reviews are my personal and honest opinions
